Smoldering Reverie pulled herself free of the bush she had folded into the night before when the stars were blinking down at her and the moon seared down into her eyes. She had felt enraptured, as if she were to go moon-blind or be consumed by moon-madness. The silvery white light wound its way through her dream that night, casting the scene in a chilly white glow even though Ember felt warm while watching it play out before her. The doe shivered gently in the shadows cast by trees all around her in the early dawn sun and she picked her way over the overlapping roots with an absent minded grace. Her mind was still caught in the odd dichotomy of her dream, half way to the warmth of the purest love and half way to the coldest touch of the moon.
Ember was instinctively drawn towards the warmth of the sun, her desire for warmth not quite filled by the dappled light coming down between the leaves and trees. Leaping nimbly over a large root, Ember's mind meandered back to the dream where a doe of the purest white sat surrounded by five sacks. Ember knew without knowing that those sacks were the does' and all of a sudden, coming over a crest was a buck with a pelt that spoke of tragedy and horns that spiraled up to the sky. The sun was to his back, casting him the deepest shadow and turning him into a fearsome silhouette. Then he came down to stand amongst the sacks and stared down at the doe. At that moment Ember saw with a painful clarity the love that he felt for the fragile white doe that was so much his opposite. She could feel their affection spreading into her bones and it infused her with an incomprehensible warmth that fought off the moon-cold.
When Smoldering Reverie broke through the line of trees into an open she was greeted by the gentle warmth of the early sun, pressing its gentle rays against her. She settled with a quiet sigh in the center of the clearing, tilting her head up with her eyes closed to face the sun.
