Antique stores weren’t exactly a hot spot for activity—with certainly came with pros and cons. Jett appreciated having little work to do and requiring minimal interaction with old people who occasionally came in just to waste time. He did not, however, enjoy sitting in a dusty old room staring at the wall when business was this slow.
He had books to keep him company—for a while. A visit to the book store earlier had left him to meet a lovely young woman, Penelope, who had given him the most fantastic suggestions for novels. He’d finished them far quicker than he’d hoped, and now had the option of rereading them (boring) or staring at the wall (equally boring).
He considered taking a nap, though that would have been unprofessional. It was just so damn tempting.
Rising from his chair, he stood, stretched, scratched the back of his neck, and decided that actually working was far more alluring than just daydreaming. He went to the back and fetched a broom—despite the fact that he’d already swept twice, today—and started up again, thinking perhaps that this time there might be some vicious dust bunny ready to jump out and attack him.
What a surprise that there wasn’t.
