okay so there are a few reasons for me coming up with this thread:

1. just want to announce that everyone who has used the previous name change will have another one. unfortunately, as cheap as Blizzard/Activision is, if you have not used your previous name change, this free name change will not stack.

2. there's no source link or anything, but it has been verified by other people that they do in fact, have one free name change.

3. i'm changing my name from SausageLinks to Primity. this will be updated in the player database sticky we have, so don't be confused if you see this name and wonder who it is. also, if you do decide to change your name, please let us know in either this thread or the aforementioned sticky so we can keep our player list updated.

That's the first thing I was hoping for when I saw this. D:
I don't think I'll ever change my username though.

Call them cheap if you want, but how many other companies give free name changes?

This is why I love Blizzard, truly the greatest game company. Sure they've only made a RTS, a RPG, and a MMO, but they have by far the greatest fan support, and what games are talked about more then WOW/SC/Diablo? (besides the obvious CoD)

Ehh, not many companies lock you into one name so that's kind of a moot point.

bnet 2.0 vs the old one from war3 is something I'm very disappointed in from blizzard. They are still a pretty good company, but they're not as awesome as they used to be.

I'm not sure I'll ever use the one I already have, unless I need to change my name for a clan.

yeah I'd call 'em cheap. having to pay $60 dollars each for three games when I could just get the original SC:BW Battle Chest for $20 and play on Fish server is a bad deal in comparison. Blizzard was fine until Activision came along, when the original Battle.net actually had a good interface, with unlimited name changes. it's been 1.5 years since SC2's release and Bnet2.0 is still terrible.

ahh, i see. I never played BW, so i don;t know exactly how Blizzard changed over the course of 11 of so years. If what you say is true, then it's Acivision being greedy, not Blizzard.

But that's not going to stop us from supporting them, is it? I know it's not going to stop me. My dream is to join Team Liquid one day, being a full time gamer would be great! (yes i know the repercussions)

No one that I know of. I just know they'll ruin Blizzard at some point.

agreed

bnet 2.0 sucks, activision sucks, the xbox live guy they hired to develop bnet2 sucks, etc.

the fact that they still don't have paid name changes or allow it to stack for the people who were safe with their name changes is a slap in the face and ******** gay

that's a bad argument imo... it's not like we're buying incomplete games. WoL was 60$, had a long enough campaign although I thought story-wise it sucked, and offered a brand new engine/game/great support in terms of patching BALANCE

it's been about 1.5 years and HotS still isn't out, i'd say I've easssssssily gotten 60$ worth, especially when you consider that 60 is the standard price for any average shitty game, PC or console.

when hots come out it'll be another several hundred, if not thousands, of hours of enjoyment i'll get. again, easily worth it.

brood war back in the day was like 40$, hots will prob be similarly priced.

I agree. I'm not really upset with the pricing model they have. With the multiple expansions and whatnot. Because those seem like really great campaigns. I mean, literally, there are something like 20-30 missions in the campaign? The entire of SC or BW only had about that many with all 3 races combined. I'd rather have the long campaign for each race, than 3 short ones.

My main gripe is just how much bnet 2.0 really sucks. Just everything about it pretty much sucks in comparison to the original from sc/war3.

My main problems with it is the inability to play on multiple servers without having to buy a copy for each one, the lack of a real chat system, and the way custom games are handled.
