This little'n is looking for an owner. The kiddo is the child of my Gyarados herla Cordelia and a rogue and has one sibling here.
Details This RP contest will end on the 20th(after the rolling of the current ongoing raffle). If you've won a herla this month, then I ask you not to enter <3 (Entries for Mel's raffle or Marge's RP contest are okay, I'll just count your entry out if you win either of those) No word count c: But I prefer quality over quantity, always. You can play out the prompt as if the thicket becomes either a male or a female, and you can change the gender/name upon the emerging of the fawn if you win.
Prompt 1. Your momma, to put it bluntly, is a sea monster. As a little one, you may not know this too well. She's awful nice to you and your sibling, and to everyone else around. One day you are confronted by another herla who points out how scary your momma is. How do you react? 2. Your sibling(in this case a brother, Anteros), has always been rather mean to everyone, and to you in particular. What do you do about it? 3. For this prompt, just give me an overall character description for the thicket. Personality, possibly plots, possible character development... The more you interest me, the better off you are!
Username: Thicket Name: Temperment: (You can leave this blank if you don't have any ideas, but the more developed character you have for the thicket, the better)

Username: Fea Line Thicket Name: Nerites - demi god of the sea, was turned into a shell fish Temperment:
Prompt: # 1
Nerites loved his mother. Being a young fawn, he never knew that her looks weren't normal. That she was something others might fear. To him she was simply his mother. Just as his brother was his brother. His family, his loved ones, his idols.
One day while Nerites was out on his own little type of adventure, he met another fawn who happened to be playing down by the lake. Lured in by the sounds of her giggling, Nerites trotted over, eager to make a new friend. "Hai!" he said in greeting to announce himself, a friendly smile across his face.
The fawn giggled and batted her eyes at him, returning his greeting with a soft one of her own. "Hi there! Want to play?" she asked, leaping forward to butt him in the shoulder with her head. "Your it!" she giggled and skipped, hopped and bounded away form him, over to hide behind the legs of a very tall hart.
Nerites laughed as he chased after her in hot pursuit. He had just made it up to the other hart when a large hoof slammed down in front of him, causing him to skid to a halt. In confusion, shock and fear, he glanced up into the stern eyes of a very angry older male. His heart sank and his ears drooped. "H-h-hi..." he stumbled a bit over his words. "We were just playing.... w-w-would you like to play too?" he asked and mustered up the courage to offer his best, most charming smile.
The hart stared at him curiously for a few moments. "Where are your parents?" he questioned in a stern voice to match the look in his eyes.
"My mom is over there!" Nerites beamed happily as he pointed with his nose towards the large Gyarados that was his mother.
The older hart took one look at Cordelia before he glared down at the fawn, a loud snort puffing from his nostrils. "Lilah, run back to your mother." he said in a gentle tone to his daughter. After she had flee'ed some distance away, he turned his attention back to Nerites. Lowering his long black neck down to the fawn's level, he spoke in a soft but deep powerful voice. "Now you listen here runt. I wont have the spawn of some monster scaring my fawn half to death. You got that?!" he snapped, bringing his face closer to Nerites's. "Now why don't you lot run back into the water where your kind belongs." he spat.
"My......kind?" Nerites said in confusion, his head tilted to the side. A terrible ache began to throb in his chest. He didn't understand what this hart was talking about.
"Yes your kind. A sea monster. A vile creature. Your kind are all the same. Nothing but trouble! Now leave my family alone!" the hart snorted before trotting off to join his family.
Nerites watched as the fawn gave a happy squeal of delight at her father's return and wove her way between his massive legs. He watched as the hind leaned close to nuzzle her mate as he mentioned something about them being safe. "Monster?" he repeated to himself after their figures had vanished and he retreated back to the water to gaze upon his reflection. "Is that what others think we are? Scary?" he said with a sigh as he turned his head this way and that way, looking over every bit of his features. He then thought of his mother, her voice echoing in his head. She wasn't scary... she was sweet, kind. She was loving and warm. She kept him and Anteros safe. She gave them food and shelter. Why was she a monster? Was it only because of her looks? Her fins? Was it her sharp teeth or her scales? His tiny brows furrowed as he stared hard into the water. Lifting a foot, he slammed it into the water, the ripples destroying his reflection. "Well if she's a so called 'monster' then that makes me a monster too!" he grunted, doing his best to impersonate a powerful roar. "If other people want to treat me like a monster, then I will show them a monster." he snorted in defiance before trotting off back to the family he loved more than anything. Sea monsters or not.
------------------
Plot/Personality ideas - As a thicket/fawn, he's very loving and very friendly towards others. He's outgoing, always wanting to make friends and play games. The prompt is sort of a foreshadowing of when and how he might learn that other herla view his mother as something to be feared as he grows older. He'll slowly start to realize that he is the child of a "Sea Monster" (as you put it) and that others are afraid of his mother and quite possibly even afraid of him. Because of this, he grows a touch cold to those who treat him like a monster and is not at all kind to them. But to those that love him and accept him for who he is, he would find ways to spoil them, protect them, anything to keep them close to him at all times - they would be his comforting salvation in a sense.

Username: Purplerosesbeauty Thicket Name: Adrestia (sister of Anteros, goddess of revenge) Temperment: Vengeful
Prompt: (I'mma do a mix of all three! Apologies for any OOC things for your herla and whatnot~)
Adrestia sat at the edge of the lake, gazing at her own reflection. She liked this quiet, this peaceful balance. Twilight and dawn were her favorite times of day, when the sun was barely peeking, but it was bright enough to still see. She liked to think she was like her mother Cordelia, kind and strong! The thought made her smile. Footsteps fell behind her and she turned around, looking into the face of her brother, Anteros. "I heard momma's a monster!" His mouth turned up in a cruel grin. "That she's super scary and eats fawns and only had us to eat someday." "Momma wouldn't do that, Anteros. She loves us." Adestria frowned, stepping into the shallow waters of the lake. "Of course she would, dummy. She's a sea monster. Haven't you ever looked at her? It's obvious momma's a fawn-eater. She'll probably eat you first because you're so weird looking. Like her." "Why are you being so...mean?!" Adestria screeched. "She's your momma too! And the only momma you got!" "I'm not being mean, I'm just telling the truth," Anteros said, leaving with a low laugh.
* * * * * * Adestria sat beneath the lake waters, thinking. Planning. She needed to enact a revenge against her brother, for saying such awful things about momma. She plotted for days, letting her hatred fester inside of her like a wound. She seethed to anyone that disturbed her, allowing only momma to talk to her and disrupt her planning. She followed her brother into the woods one day, carrying one of the strange arrows from her thicket in her mouth. She was quiet, and she would be justice. She jumped Anteros, impaling the arrow shallowly in his upper leg, screeching. "Don't ever talk bad about momma again!" Adestria hissed, hoping her brother understood her and wouldn't say such things about their mother again. She pulled the arrow back out, and went back to her lake, leaving her brother staring shocked at his wound.
------------
Adestria is outwardly kind and quiet, but when faced with injustice is driven to violent outbursts of revenge. A plot/development I have in mind is that if she gets heartbroken or her momma gets heartbroken, she would become an avenger for scorned lovers or something that fits in with her neat broken heart-arrows c:

Username: Alanna the Pirate Queen Thicket Name: Callisto (can be male or female name, relating to the oceanic titans) Temperment: Enchanting
Prompt: 1 and 3 (I will be writing "she" but it may end up being a "he"... but this personality will apply to both)
Callisto will start off as your average fawn, small, bumbling, likes to have fun. She will be completely oblivious to her mother's looks, in fact, she will feel very comforted when around other "monster" herla. As a youngling, she will wonder why "normal" herla are so weird. So, as you can see, even if someone were to tease her, she'd be perplexed because in her mind her family are the normal ones and everyone else is weird.
As she grows older, she will become rather flirtatious, though this may be off-putting depending on what she looks like. She will go forth from her mother's lake and find a lake or river of her own. She will be sweet and harmless, inviting herla to come play in the waters she calls home... but, one wrong step and... Oops! Bye bye herla... I guess you can call her a siren of sorts, though she definitely can't sing. No, it's just her loving and warm personality that drags you in slowly until... it's too late.
~~~~~~~~~
"Dude... you're mother's so scary looking... how can you even bare to live with a monster like that?!" the young buck asked with disbelief. Callisto had just proudly introduced him to her mother, proud at how beautiful and strong she was... until that little fawn opened his mouth.
"My mother is certainly no monster! That is an awful thing to say..." Callisto whimpered and looked away forlornly, though her mind was in a whirl of anger and rage. How DARE he insult my mother like that... you don't see me going around insulting herla like that! I'll show him!
The little buck shook his head, feeling guilty for making her look so sad, and replied, "No no... I didn't mean it like that! I mean, YOU are really nice... you should come live with me and my mother! You'll be much better off..." He continued pressing forward, not realizing the rage building up in little Callisto's heart.
But the young hind looked at him with rueful smile, "Oh really? You really mean it? That would be just wonderful... but..." she paused and giggled, leaning forward to lick the young buck on the cheek, "I have a special place I'd like to show you first... why don't you come with me?"
The buck blushed and nodded, he would have agreed to anything at this point... this hind was so nice and sweet, even though she did look weird... even though her mother looked ever weirder. The two of them trotted off through the trees until they came upon a calm, clear pond with a creek feeding it's hungry boarders. Callisto paused and smiled up to him, "The water here is so nice..."
Then, turning to him, she pressed her nose against his cheek and whispered, "Tag! You're it!" and ran off into the water. The young buck laughed and followed after her with glee, "I'm going to get you!"
As the game progressed, the two moved further and further out, until their heads were barely above the water. Callisto slowed down just enough to let the young buck catch up to her and he smiled triumphantly, "Haha! I got you!"
Callisto stopped and suddenly the smile on her face was replaced with an evil grin and she snarled, "No... I've got YOU, you insulting little b*****d... think I'd let you get away with that comment on my mom, did you?" And she knocked the bucks hooves out from under him, then dived down, dragging him under... and under... and under...
A little while later, Callisto walked out of the now-still waters with a happy smile on her face and just a little bloody sinew on her hooves. No one would notice that such a terrible little boy was gone... would they?
Username: musicaloner7 Thicket Name: Cassandra Temperment: Confident
Prompt: {Choosing 1}
Cassandra adored her mother. It was as simple as that. Ever since the small fawn had been born, she had followed around and looked up to the large sea-dragonesque hind with an immense amount of love. She was such an affectionate mother, and tended to Cassandra and her brother like a parent should! Even if Anteros was a bit grumpy, Cordelia remained the picture-perfect guardian. Cassandra could see no wrong in her big mama. Nothing at all! She looked forward to the day that she could swim in the larger ponds of water with her, and see the wondrous world that only stories could explain to her! To watch fish swim about, and the mystical plants that lived below the water, swaying so effortlessly as if wind were caressing them! It all sounded so magical, and just... too good to be true! The little hind aspired to be like her mama, so kind, and caring.. clearly Cordelia was a great role model. You could just see it when she'd interact with others! of course... sometimes things didn't go as they should, and... sometimes other herla would flee, for reasons that could not be understood by the little doe! It was confusing, and left the hind distressed at times, but... her mother's assurance would always aid in soothing such worries. She would always tell little Cassandra not to fret over such things. But... the doe couldn't understand..! Why would someone not like her amazing mama?
Any matter, the days went on, and the birds kept singing, and Cassandra kept smiling. Even with the unreasonable annoyance her brother would aim towards her, the hind wouldn't let it stick to her that much. It must just be his way of playing! After all, everyone expressed themselves differently. That's what mama said! And what mama say's must be right! But it was one day of their family outing to one of the local pools that such words were put to the test. Her mother had let the two fawns to one of the nice shallower ponds for a little dip. It was one of Cassandra's favorite things to do with her family! Unable to contain her excitement, she charged on ahead to splash into the delightful water, giggling happily until she saw that they weren't the only one's enjoying the refreshing liquid. A little ways down was another family... one that looked quite unhappy to see the large hind and her two strange looking fawns. That, or they were just the very solemn type. Either way, it was pretty clear that the new arrivals were not something they were happy about. But Cassandra beamed at them anyway, and shouted out a greeting. One of the parents wrinkled their nose, and turned to go further out of the way, while the other went to graze on some of the doused nearby greens. Pouting a bit, the soft blue hind shrugged, and went on to rooting about the water, dipping her snout under to see if she could find anything herself!
The fawn that was with the other family was doing something similar, but in a much more dainty manner... Cassandra, being the social little thing she was, pranced on up to him, water splashing about with her carelessly placed hooves, "Hello there!" she chirped with high spirits, earning her a frown in return. The hart lifted his nose, and turned his attention elsewhere... making Cassy blink her eyes curiously. She was persistent though, and moved to get in front of him again.
"Hey, what's wrong?" Suddenly one of the fawns parents snapped at him, causing his head to lift swiftly, and for him to stat moving back towards land. Confused, Cassandra followed after him,
"Hey wait! Why are you leaving?" The parents were already heading into the woods to remove themselves from the mismatched.. and unaesthetically pleasing family, the hart faltering as little Cassy called out. He turned to look over his shoulder, and pinned back his ears as his eyes darted over to Cordelia,
"Your mama's scary. And I don't want her to eat me." he retorted rudely. A gasp caught in the does throat at such a response, eyes widening in shock, mouth slack as well. Scary? Her mama? No! He must be looking at someone else's! Glancing back to the gyrados, and back at the buck, she frowned some,
"No she's not. You don't even know her!" she replied. But the buck only smirked and flicked his tail up,
"I don't need to. Just looking at her tells me enough." he replied snidely.
That was enough to make little Cassandra quite angry... Brows furrowed, she stomped a hoof, "No. She. Is. NOT! My mama is the nicest, sweetest, prettiest, most loving herla ever! Something's wrong with you if you can't see that!" She would NOT tolerate someone speaking ill of her mother!
The buck merely rolled his eyes and strolled off, finding no point in sticking around. But Cassandra was still shaken up. How could he say such a thing?! It baffled her! He knew nothing of her mama yet called her scary?! The idea was unfathomable! Watching him leave, she pulled herself away to dash back to her mama, giving her dozens and dozens of nuzzles of her affection. Well who cared what he thought! He was wrong! Cassandra knew how wonderful her mother was, and that's all that mattered~<3
Username: Lita Maxwell Thicket Name: Anemone Temperment: Assured
Prompt: #2
“Come on, let’s go do something. I’m bored.” The grouchy voice of her brother woke the small fawn up. By now Anemone knew better to just go along with what he wanted and not appose but right now she was so very tired and all she wanted to do was nap. She peered sleepily at him through the ticket’s branches as he glared back at her. “Well? Get up and come on!” He pressured.
With a humph she tucked her head back down against her body and mumbled. “I don’t want to. Go by yourself.” It was the first time she had objected to Anteros’ demands in quite some time and it felt rather good. As the silence extended she smiled at her small victory and relaxed back to sleep
Then there was a loud crack and a snap, Anemone felt it echo deep in her body. Without realizing it she was already standing, pushing her way through the thicket branches to find her bother on the other side. He stood grinning evilly at her, his little hoof still on top of the broken arrow. Again she felt the ache inside her chest as a sob tried to bubble up but she pushed it down. She wasn’t going to give her brother the pleasure of watching her cry again. “Ooh, I’m sorry. Was this important to you?” His voice dripped with sarcasm and amusement.
As much as she loved her mother, Anemone spent much time thinking about the hart who had left here the pretty gilded arrows. Her father would have been proud and strong just like her mother, making the arrows a precious gift and all she had of him. As her eyes moved from the broken arrow to the smug look on her brother’s face she felt something snap inside her. “You’re a horrible creature! You’re nothing like our mama or papa!” She ran at him, head butting him hard and throwing her surprised brother to the ground. “Now apologize!” Her hooves were little but they still did the trick, stomping hard and kicking at the still in shock Anteros. Anemone didn’t let her rage get the better of her, stopping her beating when he all but had curled up. “Well!?” She demanded, sticking her face in front of his. She’d take her brother’s harassment any day but from now on she wouldn’t bend to his will. She was going to be as strong and great as her parents.
“F-fine! I’m sorry!” He glared up at her, obviously not used to being on the other side of a beating. Of course he didn’t mean it but Anemone was sure the memory of it would be enough to humble him some. With a snort of finality she turned and picked up the broken pieces of the arrow, laying them next to the others. She cast a glance back at her brother as he got to his hooves, giving her a nasty look before running off. ‘Let him be angry, he’s at least learned his lesson’ she thought as she pushed her way back into her thicket and settled back down. Sleep came over her quickly and as her eyes grew heavy she looked up at the shiny, golden heart dangling above. Anemone gave a happy sigh and closed her eyes, drifting off to dream of her father.
