It was a hot summer day. The hottest one KitsuneKoi could remember. The air conditioner wasn’t working so her house was like an oven. “Ugh…”She rolled off the couch and headed to her pool. She plunged in headfirst and, to her disgust, the water was warm. Kitsune climbed out and shook herself off. “There’s gotta be someplace that has cool water.”She left her house and started wandering the town pool hopping. It’s like bar hopping, but instead of looking for hot guys, she was looking for cold water. Sadly, every pool was either more like a hot tub, or was crowded with other people trying to stay cool. After wandering around in the hot sun she became dehydrated. Her vision started going fuzzy and she found herself doing things she wouldn’t normally do in her right mind.
For some reason she tried to climb up on top a small shop. While she was up there she spotted a small pond hidden by bushes in the shade of some tall trees. “That would cool me off,” Suneki started to climb down when the store owner came out and started yelling at her. “Sorry, sorry, sorry,” She bowed her head and slipped away. Forgetting about the pond, she headed to the bus stop so she could go home. Her scales were dry and itchy and she wished she had something, anything, to drink. It was noon now and the sun beat hot overhead. She glanced around waiting for the bus when she spotted what she thought was a giant glass of orange juice. She stumbled towards it, dizzy and unstable. It suddenly stood up and started to move away, "Wait,” she collapsed a few feet away breathing heavily, “Don’t leave, I love you.”

 It was indeed a hot day, but the heat didn't bother Arianna. She was happily splashing in the little pond that she usually shared with Momo, another aquatic that made his home with her. Lucky for her the male had gone off to hunt for a bigger place and for now had left her alone. After a few more moments under the water she surfaced and caught sight of the other aquatic who was flopped on the ground. She blinked and slowly pulled herself from the pond, flicking water from her ears as she moved closer to her.
"Well that's nice but I don't know you...." She stated with a frown and a flick of her tail as she sat. "I'm pretty sure you should tell people you know that you love them, not random noodles." She added before crouching down so that she was eye level with the other female. "Are you gonna be okay?"

A few droplets hit Kitsune and she rose and shook herself. "Oh, yeah. Um...sorry about that. I’ve just, wandering around in this heat..." She shifted uncomfortably and waved her paw in the air gesturing to the sun while avoiding eye contact, embarrassed about her behavior. “I was at home, but my air conditioner is broken so I was looking for someplace to cool off, but everywhere is full so I was just gonna head home and…do something.” Kitsune rambled for a moment then stopped. She glanced at the other Noodle who was staring at her curiously. “Uh, I’m KitsuneKoi by the way.” She extended her paw, “Please say something…”

Arianna listened to the other aquatic speak but some of what she was saying honestly didn't make any sense to her. "What is an air conditioner?" She asked dark magenta eyes still trained on her, showing just how curious she was. This particular noodle didn't live in a house so those types of things were foreign to her. "If you need a place to cool down, you can come swim in my pond with me." She offered after a moment of silence went by, she hadn't really met other noodles aside from Momo when she had invaded his pond so she wasn't aware of most customs that they held up. "KitsuneKoi? That's an interesting name. I've got a plain name, just plain old Arianna."
The orange female twitched her ears again before getting to her paws and turning toward the pond. "Well come on if you want to cool down, standing over there where the sun can get you won't help you know."

“Right,” Kitsune jumped up and followed her, nervously jabbering on along the way. “An air conditioner is a big metal thing that keeps the house cool. Kitsune means ‘fox’ in Japanese and Koi is a type of fish so,” She flicked her finned tail as if that explained everything. “My names kind of a mouthful so you can call me Kitsune or Koi, at least that’s what my friend Lebbaeus calls me. Arianna is a pretty na-” More following than paying attention to where she was going, Kitsune walked head first into the pond. Her head broke the surface and she sighed in relief, “Goddess, that feels good.”

Arianna had stopped by the edge of the pond, listening to Kitsune as she explained what exactly an air conditioner was and the meaning behind her name. She could have warned the other aquatic that she was close to the edge but it was much more entertaining to watch her walk right into the water without realizing it. When her head broke the surface the orange female couldn't help but laugh. "You must have been really hot." The words came out from between laughs, her ears flicking forward as the laughter finally died down. "I'm glad you enjoy the water." She added as her tail dipped in so she could use it to splash water at the other aquatic.

Kitsune couldn’t help but laugh along with the other Noodle. She felt so much better now that she could think clearly. “Hey!” She protested when a cascade of water landed on her, then used her paws to playfully splash back. After that it turned into a bit of a war. They took turns ducking to avoid getting splashed by the other. It was nice. KitsuneKoi had never had any friends that were girls before. She liked it. When they’d both stopped throwing water at each other and giggling, Kitsune ventured for a little more information on the kind, orange Noodle. “So, how did you find this cute little pond? Also, why don’t you live in a house?” She at least assumed she didn’t since Arianna had never heard of an air conditioner.

Playing in the water was quite fun indeed, the only others she knew like her was Momo, and he was a big meanie. "I've never lived in a house, since I was small I've lived in ponds and stuff. I found this one on accident and upset the other guy that lives here, he went off for a bit today so I've got it all to myself." She explained with a shrug of her shoulders as if it was the most common answer in the world.

Kitsune looked around, hoping this 'guy' wouldn't come back suddenly and chase her off. "He doesn't sound very nice..." Her ears twitched, "So if you don't have a house or anything, what do you do all day?" KitsuneKoi performed a few barrel rolls and then contended herself by floating on the surface. It was then that she noticed that Arianna was still sitting outside the pond."Why don't you come in?" She flicked her tail sending Suneki spinning towards Arianna. "I didn't mean to steal your pond from you." Kitsune addressed it as Arianna's pond because she didn't like the thought of some jerk owning this nice little spot.
