It was late evening when Fritz found himself at the local movie rental place, standing in the aisle labeled "Romantic Comedies," a few DVD's under his arm. He was, at least, comfortable enough with himself to not care that the two girls on his left were giggling and pointing and probably thought he swung the other direction, but Fritz liked romantic comedies as much as the next person and there was, in his mind, nothing wrong with that.
He picked out a few more, then went on a hunt for snacks - since one couldn't really have a movie night without snacks.
He hoped they Twizzlers...

Cordelia had spent a bit of time after her cousin had left his apartment gaping at the door that he'd just left through and then she had pulled out her phone to call what few connections she had about the city after her self-imposed solitary. Everyone, it seemed, had plans for the evening. Everyone that she knew.... Everyone but her, it seemed. Sulking, Cordelia had returned to the manor to change into something a bit more suiting and considerably more comfortable. She'd applied her makeup, drawing out her eyes and lining her lips before grabbing her favorite scarf and heading out to the one place that wouldn't judge her for being alone on Valentine's Day. It took a considerable amount of browsing up and down the aisles herself before she had selected a few of her own 'must haves' that she hadn't gotten around to owning yet and she was just about to reach for the last jumbo pack of Twizzlers (to go along with the microwave popcorn and the chocolate covered raisins) when she spotted someone else headed for them as well.

He supposed he should have let Tolliver know what he was up to, but his twin brother wasn't even at home. Ollie had met a girl at a local bar he went to, and the two of them were off on some romantic excursion that involved some sort of fancy dinner and dancing afterwards. Fritz did not envy him, but it certainly felt a bit weird to know that Tolliver was doing something fun and he was...standing here in the aisle of a movie store checking out chick flicks and looking for Twizzlers.
Which he found quite easily, but unfortunately for Fritz, he was not the only one who had their eye on the candy. As his hand stretched out towards the package, it collided with another hand.
He stopped and pulled back, lifting a brow in mild amusement. The young woman next to him had dark curly hair that fell over her shoulders in glossy, blue-black waves, a scarf tossed stylishly around her neck. She was carrying a box of popcorn and a package of what looked like raisins, as well as a stack of movies of her own, not unlike the stack Fritz was carrying.
There was a moment of silence while he stood there, looking at her, and then, offering her a crooked smile, Fritz said lightly, teasingly "So, rock, paper, scissors, then?"

Quite uncharacteristically for Cordelia Carden, but completely classic in a bad Valentines movie sort of way, she blushed the moment their fingers touched, drawing back almost as if she had been shocked only to stare at him as though he had just suggested they drop everything and tango at the mention of 'rock, paper, scissors'. The young woman was quick to recover, though, and soon turned sputtering goldfish puckering lips into a soft smirk as she eyed the package of candy before glancing up to him. "A real gentleman would let a lady have them without the competition... But if you must insist, I at least feel the need to warn you that I am a pro at rock, paper, scissors..." And a horrible bluffer.

She was really very cute - the blush that spread across her cheeks was quite endearing, and Fritz smiled brightly at the blank look on her face. He gave a small laugh, shaking his head a bit, and shifted the goodies in his arms so that he could have a free hand.
"I'm sure you are," he said, eyes twinkling as he added, with false modesty, "But, well, you know, I happen to be very good at it myself, you see, and seeing as we can't both have the Twizzlers, a nice little game is what we can do instead."
There was a slight pause.
"And a real gentleman knows to let a lady fight for her rights," he added, grinning mischievously as he held out his hand.
"One, two, three - "

"I thought today was the day where boys were supposed to be buying candy for pretty girls... Not fighting them over it." Her lips pursed into a light pout for a moment as she set her own movies down carefully on the counter along with the box of popcorn and her other snacks, letting out a soft sigh before straightening out. "Very well, but just so you know, I won't be holding back because just because you're a boy so I don't expect you to just let me win because I'm a girl either." There was the slightest trace of a smirk on her lips at that, pale blue eyes gleaming with a hint of amusement and mischief. "Shoot." At that word her own hand came down in the form of 'scissors'.

Fritz's grin was a mischievous one.
"Whatever happened to women's rights and all that?" he asked innocently, rocking back and forth on his heels. "And I would never presume to do something as silly as let you win just because you're a girl."
His hand came out - a pair of scissors as well. Fritz lifted a brow as he looked at their identical sign.
"Well, this certainly is a conundrum," he said, glancing up at her. "What should we do about this, hm?"
