I was just thinking about this song my mom used to sing to me when I was a kid. I'm honestly surprised that I could remember the tune after so many years, but I do. The song's called "Daisy Bell," and the lyrics, at least the ones she sang to me, are:

"Daisy, Daisy, give me your answer do
I'm half crazy all for the love of you
It won't be a stylish marriage
I can't afford a carriage
But you'll look sweet
Upon the seat of a bicycle built for two."

And I was wondering: What songs do you remember from your childhood? Maybe I'll know them as well.

The one song that I absolutely had to hear before I fell asleep was "People Are Strange" by The Doors.

It's actually "Frere Jacque, Frere Jacque, dor'me voux, dor'me voux?". I remember that one. If I remember correctly, the English translation was, "Are you sleeping, are you sleeping, Brother John, Brother John?" I used to love that song.

Yup yup. I also remember singing "Yellow Submarine" as a kid and my friends and I would change the words around so it was "Purple Jellybean". Just to be kooky.

@OP: I know that song from the movie Robots. God its been years since I watched that. My mom used to sing me a song that went "In the pines, in the pines where the sun never shines, and you whistle when the cold winds blow.." I forget the rest. But other than that, I listened to Blink182 xD

I couldn't go to sleep at night unless my mom sung "You Are My Sunshine" to me. I know the tune very well (she actually bought my a CareBear music box that plays it; I still have it after all these years), but I only remember a handful of lyrics.

"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You make me happy when skies are gray
You'll never know dear, how much I love you
Please don't take my sunshine away"

Everything else is a blur. But I do know that I loved hearing bedtime stories too. : D

When I was a little kid I used to listen to the Spice Girls obsessively, so pretty much any of their songs represents my childhood.

My mom used to sing me this song when I'd go to bed. It only took me 15 years to discover it was called All my loving. How did a Beatles song sneak by that me for so long!?

Let's learn our colours, just me and you.
Let's learn our colours, like red, green, and blue.
Let's learn our colours, so we can say
All the little things we learned in school today.

Now there's red and green, orange and blue,
Yellow and purple say I love you.
Colours, colours, colours, colours all around,
Up in the sky and down on the ground.

I learned that one in year one of grammar school. Amazing what the mind retains.
