He figured he should probably look it up at some point, it was just a matter of getting around to it.

With nothing else to do, and the beer in the ‘fridge almost gone, Michael leaned back against the couch, laptop on the upholstered arm beside him. There wasn’t enough booze left for him to get tipsy, and it was probably a good thing, too. Showing up to teach class hung over wouldn’t really do well for his impression on the rest of staff. The kids, on the other hand, probably didn’t care and would take advantage of his sluggishness that day.

Unfortunately for them, Valentine’s Day would be just another day in his classroom.

Sessrumnir was slowly typed out into the Google search box, his index finger poking at each key. There had been a couple other knights he’d met with names he’d recognized, Camelot for instance. But Sessrumnir… he’d never heard of the word before, much less realized it was an actual name.

At first he wondered if he’d perhaps misspelled it, but was surprised when Wikipedia had an entry at the very top.

But unlike the entry for Camelot (or what he assumed would be the entry since he didn’t actually search it), there was barely anything there.

It was Norse, huh? But being called “seat-room” did nothing for him. Being a hall of the goddess Freyja, though… that was a little more interesting.

“Half of those who die in battle…” Michael mumbled out loud, as if to test it out for himself. Brows furrowed slightly, wondering if the information was even correct. Not that he knew much about Norse mythology, but he thought people who died in battle went to Valhalla. Was Sessrumnir another place the Norse had strived to reach?

The beer bottle was brought to his lips as he x-ed out and brought up a new search.

Jupiter.

Nothing surprising from Wikipedia there. Fifth planet from the Sun, largest in the Solar System, gas giant along with Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.

But then a word appeared that had him pausing.

‘Together, these four planets are sometimes referred to as the Jovian or outer planets.’

Jovian was brought up in a new tab, but when there was even less information than Sessrumnir had brought up, it was x-ed out as well. He should have known better than to expect answers to be given to him so freely and easily.

About to give up and see what was on the television that night, another name caught his eye. Actually, it was two names, and conveniently they were names of those he’d already met. Ganymede, the largest moon in the Solar System, larger than even the planet Mercury, and Europa, with its possible ice-covered liquid ocean.

The senshi that he’d met… those who claimed to be Jovian… They were all named for Jupiter’s moons? There were at least sixty-four, according to the information entered into the page.

The cursor hovered over Great Red Spot when he heard the front door open. Michael looked up, even though he wouldn’t be able to see his housemate coming in from his place in the living room.

“Gilbert, dearest,” he called, with a mocking quality to his voice, “There’s pizza on the counter if you want any.”

And the laptop was shut, Michael’s interest, however vague, was put on hold as he got up to see if he could convince Gilbert to go back out and get more booze for him.
