SHADOW RUN
The Shadow Run is both the simplest and most dangerous training course that can be run without a golem. A flurry of continuous attacks is what the Sun Division holds in highest respect, and the course reflects that. The course itself is a simple tunnel, reached via portal. Within the tunnel await hundreds of weak, hungry shadowlings. Nothing to worry about on their own, but capable of overwhelming a Hunter through sheer numbers at the first moment of weakness. At the other end of the tunnel is another portal, leading back to the course observation booth.
If you fail: your character is KO'd, but there's always a senior hunter in the observation booth with enhanced bandages at the ready. They should reach you in time. Really. Trained and trusty professionals on-hand 24/7.
If you win: peen points and bragging rights to those who take out the greatest number of shadowlings and go the most turns without needing to attempt a recovery maneuver.
Mechanics
You must get through 5 waves of attacks to make it through the tunnel.
Simply roll for attack as you would in battle.
If you miss, your character falters in their attacking and is overwhelmed by shadowlings.
After 3 successful hits, you may use your weapon's charge attack.
Bonus Mechanics
This bonus is consumable.
The bonus in this course is in the form of "recoveries" ~ these are would-be missed attacks that are quickly recovered and turned into a successful hit. Basically, they can miss once and roll again for an extra try. If you keep consecutively missing, though, and run out of recoveries, it's lights out. These do not equal an automatic pass for a round, you still have to land a successful hit to proceed.
Trainees: 0 recovery
Sun Trainees: 1 recovery
Hunters: 1 recovery
Sun Hunters: 2 recoveries

Jordan waited for Marcus by the portal, Ferros already summoned and slung across his shoulder; he was more than ready to take on the Shadow Run. The new guy's rampant sexism and homophobia irritated him more than he liked to admit. At least the series of beatings awaiting the guy might knock some iota of sense into him. Hopefully, anyway.
Ferros was thrumming with pleased anticipation. While he disapproved of idiocy just as much as his human did, the stupidity on Twitter had sent them off to a training course again, and Ferros liked that outcome.

He'd had to shut it off and leave it in his room. It took a lot to make him snap and the new guy? Record time. The guy was not only being sexist as ********, he was just- infuriating. The worst part of it all was the guy didn't seem to show any remorse. That is what sickened him. Hopefully, Clarice and Candace and Clerise and god just- when he had his a** to him maybe then he'd get the ******** picture.
Jordan was waiting by the portal, weapon already summoned. Following suite, Marcus joined him. "Thanks for coming out here. I've just hit to max level of s**t I can stomach for a day you know?" Dis was making a snide remark how he'd not been very mature, but Marcus was using his 'I am 18 ******** you and he's a p***k' rebuttal against the weapon.

"Yeah, I get you," Jordan answered. "Did the Mist tower the other day for similar reasons." He shook his head. "That guy had better shape up, or he's going to get himself killed being stupid on a mission. Not any of us," he clarified. "Just by thinking he's all that and trying to take something deadly on."
He swung Ferros down off his shoulder with a thin smile. "Ready to go hit things?"

A nod. "More than ready. And yeah, either he's going to be getting himself killed in a mission, or screwing everyone over if he keeps it up. We're supposed to be able to work and trust each other and all that to some extent but god." Marcus wanted to just punch the guy's face in still. "How can we expect him to not be blinded by that bigotry when it could mean the difference between success and failure?" Going trough the portal, there were already some shadowlings present. Damn it. Well Dis purred as he began to hack his way through them, imaging them as one red haired individual. "They're already on this side, better be ready!" He came through the portal at a run, more than ready to squash some shadowlings. Ferros rumbled with satisfaction in his mind as he swept a wide path through a cluster of the creatures. Marcus huffed as the first wave ended, Jordan taking out the last of them. "Even if we beat him up I doubt he'll change overnight. It'll show him to keep his mouth shut and his s**t to himself but-" Dis noted that he was still hungry, and the next wave was on it's way, "Bigotry like that doesn't end overnight. From his words alone, he seems the type to not give a ******** about himself. Probably the type to say he was going easy on everyone." What Marcus hated most was the guy reminded him of his stupid younger brother. The brat that had set himself on a path to ruin. "Who knows, maybe the Sun lead is a woman. A swarm of shadowlings rushed at him from both sides; unable to hit both sides of the pincer move quickly enough, he dived out of the way. "Stupid things," he grumbled. They better hope hard because Marcus didn't think much of the guys at that moment. At best, his hate was just under boiling. Later he'd not hate but right now just- boiling. Wait though- "Someone's gay?" He blinked. "I've..never noticed. Then again, bandages and cookies and..yeah. I don't see why it matters. All I care about is if stuff will get in the way of missions you know? And that guy? He's got issues." Serious ones at that. Jordan glanced sideways at Marcus. "Hopefully more than one someone or I'm SOL on dating," he answered dryly, then focused on taking out another clump of shadowlings. "But yeah, doesn't matter much, unless someone's spewing bigotry. I'd rather rely on someone who doesn't care about that kind of thing." "Heh. Don't worry about it," Jordan said. "Is it weird that weird's become normal around here? I've sort of come to expect bizarre states of mind induced by random things now and then." He swept Ferros down at a clump of shadowlings; the things scattered, squealing, and he only squashed a couple. A minor irritation, but Ferros was growling gleefully and radiating heat. This is why he liked Jordan. He took things and let the run off his back like water. "If you think about it, we've always been weird, here, we just don't have to hide it." Or run from it for that matter. It was sort of nice despite all the s**t they got. The final wave was approaching and Marcus readied his weapon, Dis giving a flash of blue, begging to be let loose. "He's ready huh? Dis is saying about the same, but he's prone to miss." The weapon hissed, saying it was all because Marcus just couldn't handle him. Smirking, he let the shadowlings come to him, letting the blade go in an arch, cutting more than a few of them down. "God that felt good." "A very valid point," Jordan agreed. It was a good feeling, if he thought about it. Being surrounded his whole life by people who thought he was crazy or imagining things, keeping himself apart because of that basic distrust, and then coming here ... he didn't have to pretend he was normal, and that just felt better. "Nice one," he said as Dis flashed bright and sliced through the wave of shadowlings, then, "Our turn." Ferros roared as he burst into flame, illuminating the tunnel in a blazing flash; he caught and crisped a writhing mass of shadowlings, and the ones nearby scattered away from the light and heat, clearing the path to the other end of the run. Whisting, Marcus couldn't help but admire the power. "There is a reason they stick us where they do. No wonder you're in sun!" He laughed, "I keep wondering why I'm in moon is Dis doesn't heal, but hey, better than death in some ways you know?" Popping his neck, Marcus motioned to the portal. Feeling a bit better now that we've killed some things? I think I still might take a run down at beach. Just get some fresh air in me and keep me from well-" Dis was desummoned. "Yeah."
