So you’ve just joined Rosentale, and you’re sitting down to build a new character for the story and setting. Awesome! But lot of people either struggle to come up with something that works, or have difficulty creating characters that make sense, and are interesting, much less have dept and balance. Their characters are frequently either Mary Sues, or they do not form a cohesive person because the skills and stats don’t make sense together. Sometimes they will devote two or three paragraphs to their skills, but only one sentence to their flaws. Or the character just doesn't fit the setting at all.

Hopefully this little write up will help you be able to put together interesting characters with relative ease. Before we get started, I will encourage you to read the Mary Sue 101 thread. It covers some basic issues with characters, that crop up over and over. This thread will be much, much more in depth. But that thread is nice for an overview.
