An ORP for all[mostly girls] to enjoy.

Where- School Kitchen
When- The day before Valentines. Clowrey was talking about Tasean Valentine traditions, aka, make chocolates and get gifts on White Day, and she has found herself hosting a little 'class'. Everyone is welcomed, though guys are discouraged from attending, if they can help it... ;D
The giving of chocolates will happen on Valentines Day.
PostPosted: Sun Feb 12, 2012 3:46 pm

Theo had not been apart of the initial discussion that prompted the mini lesson in being a chocolatier that Clowrey was hosting, but he had heard snippets of when it was and knew the only place it could possibly be held: the Adacemy's kitchen.

Already being familiar with the facilities, Theo peaked his head in through one set of the kitchen's doors quietly, wondering if anyone had shown up yet. As far as he knew this was a girl's only event, but that wasn't going to stop him from acting like a peeping tom and spying on them like a curios boy in the girl's locker room.

He was hoping he'd be able to pick up enough so he could make his own chocolates, and send some to his mother for Valentine's Day, or even for Mother's Day. Maybe make some for Ane as a gift, for Basia, Avalbane, heck, even maybe some for Clowrey as well, regardless of whether or not she could taste them.

Clow was already in the kitchen at this point, having gotten permission to reserve the kitchen for this 'class'. A few people were already here, to her surprise--Some people really wanted to make chocolates, either for their crush or just to have chocolates later on...Whatever it was, she was teaching this class and all that. 'Lets see...there's quite a lot of ingredients for this,' she thought to herself, 'Guess the staff doesn't mind if we have just one day to ravage sweets...Then again, there's Halloween and Easter too. Anyway...' After going over the ingredients, Clowrey finally looked up and surveyed the class; looks like there would still be a few stragglers left.

Avalbane McCarthy

xxxxxxxxxxxAvalbane • had already been in the kitchen. She had actually entered soon after Clowrey had gotten there. Though she could not really bake or cook that well, Ava wanted to try. Especially since the information had been said that it would be girls only. That was something that would be nice. Hopefully Ava could make some friends while here. Though it might be hard for her to do, especially since she was really shy to talk to the other students.

She had actually met Clowrey for a few minutes at the Winter Ball but knew nothing about the girl.

As Ava stood there, she stared down at the ground and kept close to the back and slightly behind something. She didn't want to be the spotlight or seem to eager to get along with the other students. As she looked across the ground, she was noticing other's shoes. Some were really cute. But as she stared at the clothing, something else came to mind. This experience would probably be very messy and she had not dressed in older clothing. Would they receive aprons? Avalbane's mother always wore an apron when she cooked. That protected her beautiful clothing from getting messy.

Thinking on cooking also brought up another question in Ava's mind. What exactly was chocolate? She had not actually ever heard or it or tasted it. Was it made of chalk? She knew what chalk was. Would it stain her clothing? These were all important questions she wanted to ask but couldn't work up the courage to do. Avalbane would just wait, maybe someone else would ask the questions.

Too young to be involved romantically with anybody, Tabby could still have crushes, right? She was still too young to understand what romance was exactly, but if it was anything like what the other kids at school told her, it was good, right??

Although her rowdy and immature appearance told otherwise, Tabby did have a secret admiration of the Valentine's day rituals... But she never thought she'd have a secret admirer, either.

Due to the new-found, maybe even the first, possibility of a romantic attachment, joy collected in her little, fast-beating heart. She threw her hands over her chest and gripped her shirt in an attempt to ease her pounding heart... and entered the kitchen with fresh smile. Making chocolates, wrapping them up, and giving them to someone special... It was... thrilling.

She looked around and the only familiar face she saw was... the injured girl's. Well, not her face. More like her distinctive hairstyle and fashion statement. Tabby's smile dropped; it was if she was metaphorically frozen in place. It was only for a few moments as Tabby recalled their last meeting... She really liked someone, but he turned out to be a jerk. And instead of helping, Tabby ended up kicking him in the shin....

Her insides began to twist up. Was it wrong to kick him?

She shook her head. No! He's.... awful! Underneath that thick, permanent smile... is the contorted face of a DEMON.

This made sense to Tabby. She nodded to herself as she thought, And thus, it is my sworn duty to protect damsels in distress from their destructive love interests, even if they don't want me to... Tabby swallowed... Still... I don't want her to be sad...

She took another deep breath and approached the injured girl.
"Oh, hey!" she said and laughed sheepishly. "You never told me your name. What should I call you?"

It occurred again to Tabby where they were: in the school kitchen before Valentine's Day.

"You're making chocolates for that guy you like, right?" She looked to the side and rubbed her arm shamefully.. "A-about last time; I'm sorry for not being able to keep my word... I kind of... kicked him in the shin..."

Like a thief creeping in the middle of the night, a certain someone clad in black crab-walked his way along the halls in the direction of the school kitchen. Hack had heard about this chocolate making session while eavesdropping on a conversation between a couple of girls the other day and he couldn't resist coming to take a look.

Or, you know, maybe take more than just a look...

Upon reaching his destination, he straightened up, right next to the door. From where he stood, he could hear sounds of excited chattering and pots clanging. He took a deep sniff and the heavenly smell of melting chocolate wafted into his nose... Gosh that smelled so good.

He was about to march in and announce his presence when he noticed everyone inside was... female. Oh right, the girls had said something about it being boys-off-limits. Maybe... it was safer to observe first, and infiltrate later.

Hack hunkered down next to the door, half formed plans to sneak in already reeling through his mind, when he suddenly noticed a dark haired boy peeking into the room as well. Woah, how long had he been there? The man tried to catch his eye, grinned a bit and pointed towards the door.

"You here for the chocolate too, kiddo?"

Once the kitchen was filled up, with familiar and unfamiliar faces and then some, Clowrey called out to everyone's attention. "Okay, it looks like everyone that wants to be here is here, so we're going to get started," she said, "It's two or three per station, remember that. There's plenty of ingredients at each one for all of us, so...yeah. We should be good on that." She tapped her chin thoughtfully, wondering where to go from here...It was a little odd that Clowrey was teaching a class, she thought to herself. It was just making chocolates but there were a lot of people here...'Wonder who they're making these sweets for?' Disregarding any nervousness in her stomach, the Tasean continued on.

"Check to make sure you got all these ingredients and materials, okay:
    Chocolates squares
    Molds
    Two bowls per person
    Frosting
    Red and pink food coloring
And there should be some things for fillings, like caramel and stuff, if anyone wanted to do that.

First off, we're not going to use any ovens. I saw some of you turning them on already and getting pans out, but...We're just going to use hot water. Take one of the bowls and go fill them with as hot of water as you can. Put all your chocolate squares in the other bowl and stick that one on top of the other. It's important that you don't get any water or milk or anything in the chocolate, or else it'll get chunky."
She continued to instruct everyone, while filling up her own bowls and such to make sure everyone visually understood. "While the top bowl is getting heat up by the hot water...take this time to think about how many chocolates you're going to make. In Tasea, we have Honmei Choco for people we crush on...and also Tomo Choco for our friends. So think about who you're going to give chocolates to and ready your molds." There were star molds and heart molds, all in different sizes...For Clowrey who had planned to give out all Tomo Choco, she was readying palm-sized molds of both type...

'Lets see...Ane, Theo, Isaac, Danica, Juno, BB...Am I forgetting anyone?' she thought to herself, going over everyone she knew in her head. Noting a minute or so had pass, Clowrey then called everyone to get their spoons and stir the bowl of chocolates. Warmed up, the squares easily melted into each other against the mixing spoons. After getting each bowl personally inspected by herself, it was then time to fill up the molds. For filled chocolates, she told people to only fill the mold part way and slowly drip a medium amount of whatever filling they wanted and then finish pouring in the chocolates over that.

After that, all respective molds were placed onto a tray and stuck into the cooler to harden. It wouldn't take too long, so it was time for a short break.

Avalbane McCarthy

xxxxxxxxxxxAvalbane • was jarred from her thoughts and floor staring by a voice close to her. Turning her head to the side slightly, a bit nervous of who it was, she noticed the small girl from the Winter Ball. Oh no! The last time they talked Ava was running away to try and hide from what was about to happen. Which did bring up a curious question, what did happen? Sharp Shooter had never really came toward her or anything during the ball. Maybe he was told and was freaked out. That is probably what happened. He did not want a illiterate alien to be in love with him. That was fine. She would probably do her best to stay away from him if that is what he wanted.

"O-oh. um, hello again. M-My name is A-Avalbane." She couldn't remember if the girl had told her her name or not. Oh gosh! Had she? Would asking again be a bad thing? She did not want to offend the blonde girl. Maybe she could play it off. Or maybe she would say her name as well. Some how this would have to work out. "Yer can c-call me Ava..umm.. if so'tiz easier or s-somethin'." She didn't want to make things too hard on people. Her name was rather long.

Of course the blonde girl had to be here for a reason also, so it made sense for her to ask Avalbane. Although this bring up a realization. Avalbane wasn't really here for any reason other then to learn what Chocolate was and try it. It had to be good if everyone did this for a tradition. Her eyes kind of widened when the blonde girl said something about making the chocolates for Sharp Shooter. She had never thought about that. At all. But of course now she probably shouldn't even if she wanted to. He probably wouldn't want them. Avalbane turned her gaze to the floor. At least until she heart that he had been kicked. Quickly jerking her head around, she faced the young girl and cupped her hands over her mouth. "Oh me! She was surprised at first, but then a small giggle started to escape. It was rather funny. He was at least twice her size and yet she kicked him. Avalbane couldn't help herself but laugh. "Dat is ok. Oi don't tink he likes me anyway. Oi actually don't nu waaat oi'm doin'. oi jist wanted ter join in on sum things." Ava wasn't stuttering as much since she had laughed. Usually that made her feel more comfortable.

At that moment Clowrey had started talking. This was something important and Ava had to pay attention. She moved towards a station and turned back to the instructor. As she was checking, she realized she did not know what chocolate squares looked like and what was frosting? Oh no, and this caramel stuff! Oi best jist count de things. dat shud tell me if oi'm missin' somethin'. So she did. And it seemed as if everything was there, but she wasn't completely sure. Those filling things sounded weird. Hopefully the person who moved in next to her could help her out.

"First off, we're not going to use any ovens." That was a relief. Ovens and Avalbane did not mix. There would have been a big throw down and she would have tried to freeze the damn thing. Speaking of freezing, hopefully she wouldn't get the chocolate hard again when she tried to put it int he molds. Her cold body temperature would test her ability to make chocolate.

But first and foremost, she needed to figure out which one of these things was chocolate before she could go put water in her bowl.

Theo hadn't noticed Hack. No, he had been far too distracted by intently trying to listen in on what Clowrey was saying and spotting every girl he knew in the kitchen at the moment. So when Hack spoke to him, he was suddenly made aware of the older male's presence and jumped, giving off an audible yelp.

"I-i-i-i," Theo began, trying to find words that would successfully travel out his mouth hole and not make him sound like an idiot, "I wasn't spying on them, uhm, honest! I just want to know how to make chocolates for my mom!"

Ok, so he got the successfully saying words thing down, but he still managed to make himself look like an idiot.

Panic stricken, he looked into the cafeteria to Clowrey, who at this point had made eye contact with him once, meaning she knew he was creepering there the whole entire time. Maybe she didn't mind because it was him, and she knew he liked to cook things. After all, they met while he was making cookies.

He starred at the smoke summoning teen for a few brief moments, the horror on his face translating into some sort of pitiful plea for him to be accepted into the room so he wouldn't feel like a jerk. Then he looked back up at Hack, he grinned in a lopsided manner and chuckled nervously.

...Theo you are so smooth with everyone.

"Huh?" Clowrey looked up when she heard a familiar voice crying out. Through the crack between the doors, she could see Theo peeking in...'What the--Was he here the whole time then?' she thought to herself, 'Ohhhh right, he likes to bake. Uhm, what do I do...' She chuckled nervously as Theo made a face towards her; 'Guess I'll have to give in, hmm?' The Tasean girl sighed and motioned him inside. A few of the girls would begin to whisper or utter complaints, but Clowrey silenced them, "Theo will be the exception this time. He enjoys baking too so I hereby appoint him my helper. You don't have any problem with that, right Theo?" She smirked at him, hinting he probably didn't have any other favorable choice but to accept.

"By the way, who were you shouting at...?" She'd yet to realize Hack was on the other side...

The name Avalbane made Tabby think of an space battle alien cyborg. She rested her chin on her hand. "Avalbane... I think that's a spectacular name! It really fits you," she chirped, with a newfound impression of Avalbane being able to transform her mechanical leg into some kind of an ice cannon, and she actually gained her numerous scars from fighting in a lot of wars and ferocious battles... She must have started fighting at around my age, Tabby rationalized in her mind. So she really wasn't a damsel in distress, but she was actually a ... hardcore war veteran! Looking at her again, Tabby still got the vibe of a shy, beaten down on girl who needed to be protected... "Yer can c-call me Ava..umm.. if so'tiz easier or s-somethin'."
"It okay; I like your full name better, Avalbane," Tabby said with inspired eyes. She seemed quite fond of Avalbane, but whether it was because she was so delicate or because she was a battle-savvy war veteran didn't seem to matter...

It did take a lot of mental strength to confess, so Avalbane's laughter made her look up, blushing. She felt embarrassed by how much of a big deal she herself took it; she expected Avalbane getting upset over it, but instead, it would be the first time she'd hear Avalbane laugh. Which made Tabby let out her own laugh too, sheepishly.

"Dat is ok. Oi don't tink he likes me anyway." Avalbane seemed oddly calm and cheerful about it, which made Tabby frown.

User Image

Avalbane giving up on him was supposed to be good, so why did Tabby feel bad??

"Oi actually don't nu waaat oi'm doin'. oi jist wanted ter join in on sum things." Then just at that moment, she moved to a station as the instructor began speaking. "Two or three per station, right?" Tabby went up to Ava's side. "I'll join with you!"

Tabby followed the instructor's directions just as she was saying them. She swiped a bowl, went to the nearest sink and came back with steaming water inside it. She slammed it onto the station, making no effort to lessen the impact of it hitting the counter, and she slapped the second bowl onto it. Tabby could be quite good at cooking/baking, but she always prepared it with brute force, whereas Anemone would carefully and gingerly take care not to put a single scratch on any of the utensils. Tabby's cooking did come out delicious, just not presentable. Food was meant to taste, right??

Counting and assessing always confused Tabby, so she decided to make a lot of both of everything. She dropped chocolate squares into the bowl until it was almost full and pummeled them with her spoon until they were fully melted. Then she quickly poured chocolate into as many molds as she could until the entire bowl was empty. More than half were overfilled, but she could always break them out of the mold later. The next step would be to stick them in the cooler, which reminded Tabby of the cool breeze coming out of Avalbane and the frozen footsteps that she left behind.

Tabby smiled and asked with shining eyes, "Hey Avalbane, what's your power? Could you freeze my chocolate molds for me?! That'd be really cool!"

Hack was pretty startled himself when the poor dark haired boy literally jumped with a yelp. He hadn't been expecting such a... well, such a vocal reaction.

His surprise turned into a slight pang when he heard the boy's reason for spying on the girls.

"Oh, heh, make chocolates for your mom huh, that's really nice of you kid..." he commented wistfully, thoughts drifting towards his own deceased mother. If she were still alive, would she have made chocolates for him too? She did so once, just that one time when they had the time to afford. It was really tasty...

Hack snapped back to attention when he noticed the boy looking decidedly uncomfortable. He was looking back and forth rather nervously between the man and someone beyond the door. Was it something he said...? There was nothing wrong with spying on girls making chocolate dude, and he was about to say so too until some girl from behind the door spoke up. Something about a helper... Oh.

"Your name's Theo?" he said brightly.

"By the way, who were you shouting at...?"

And then completely forgetting he was supposed to remain incognito, Hack quite instinctively stuck his head in the doorway, a huge smile on his face.

"Sup! He was, uh, shouting at me," he piped up cheerfully.

Several girls stared back at him. One in particular made him do a double take. Purple hairband, glasses, brown hair... Feisty girl???

Avalbane McCarthy

xxxxxxxxxxxAvalbane • had blushed from the compliment Tabby had given her. She was also rather relieved to see Tabby become her 'partner' in a sense. At least she knew the girl and felt more comfortable around her. This would be fun after all!

Peaking over at what Tabby was doing, Ava made sure to figure out which was chocolate and which was not. The only problem was the hot water, hopefully her hands and body wouldn't emit too much cool air to prevent the water from staying hot. It was almost like a race against time for her. As she placed the second bowl into the hot water, she was careful when putting the chocolate in. Clowrey had said not to let water get into it and she was doing her best not to.

Out of the corner of her eye, Avalbane would watch what Tabby did and relate those actions with what Clowrey was telling them to do. Most of it made sense. The chocolate had set in the bowl for a bit before Avalbane carefully started to stir them around to get them to melt. It was actually a bit of a challenge for her, she didn't want to be too forceful and create a mess by accident. She was prone to accidents. As soon as the brown liquid seemed clump-less, she carefully started to try and fill some molds. Different ones of each of course. Who knew who she would meet and could give the heart ones to. Of course as she tried to pour some chocolate into the molds, she missed half of what she was doing. The melted chocolate landed and puddled up on the counter tops. Hopefully this wouldn't be a problem. She didn't mean to make a mess. Rectifying her earlier accident, she aimed better at the next few molds and was able to fill them up about halfway. There! She thought, rather happy with what she had done.

Tabby's voice caught her attention and she turned to look at her, Avalbane's glowing pink eyes staring down at the younger girl. My power? This would have been the first time someone had actually mentioned her power. Maybe they had not realized that the frozen footsteps, cold skin, and built in air conditioning was part of her power. However, Tabby seemed to. "Me power? well, umm, oi lower temperatures." That was the best way to explain it at least. She wasn't sure of her full potential or what her powers completely entailed, but she did know some of what she could do. Tabby's voice sounded so excited about the idea that Avalbane might be able to freeze her molds that Ava couldn't say no. Well she could, but the truth is she could freeze her molds. "A-Alright. let me try."

Stepping closer to Tabby, Ava put her hands on the mold and narrowed her brow. It was time to use her powers. This would be the first time she had ever used her powers at the Academy. Hopefully it would be the first time of many, she rather liked the idea of being needed. Avalbane concentrated on the molds and kept her hands pressed firmly against them. She could feel the warmer molds slowly loosing that warmth. She could also feel the pulse of a cool stream running through her arms and out her hands. It was a rather odd sensation, but one that was hard to explain. After a bit of holding them and allowing her powers to run wild on the molds, the chocolate seemed to be stiff as it was before melting.

Letting go of the molds, Ava stepped back over to her side of the station and smiled. "Dare." She was rather proud of herself, slightly beaming with happiness. Hopefully that is what Tabby wanted. She decided to do the same thing with her own molds, now aware that she could.

This whole time she had not paid any attention to the two males who had showed up to the chocolate making or any of that conversation that was going on. Seemed she was too enthralled with making chocolate and finally having a good use to her powers.

Maybe she should become a Chocolatier.

When Hack poked his head inside, her mind immediately erupted with a flurry of thoughts and memories; namely, the food massacre back at the Winter Ball..."Oh no, no no no no!" Clowrey called out adamantly, coming out from behind her station. "YOU are not coming in here!" she continued. She made her way to the door in a few long strides and promptly pushed him back out. "You'll just end up eating all the food or making a mess of things! But more likely--you'll end up doing both," Clowrey stated, ">>Stay out< With that said, she shut the door on Hack...

Glancing at the clock, she figured the chocolates should have cooled by now. So it was time for the next part...
"Okay, now we're gonna decorate the chocolates. If you guys want to make things a little more fancy, you can use a few drops of the food coloring and mix it with the frosting--But just a few drops, remember that!

Uhm, this part is really more of a do-what-feels-right thing, but if anyone needs help or has questions just come on up! So now we..."

Time passed and eventually the chocolates were finished, decorated and all, and put into plastic bags tied with a small red ribbon...There were still a few people who were doing some last minute touches, Clowrey including. But now all there was to do was wait for tomorrow, Valentine's Day, to hand out their treats.

Clowrey inspected her "Friend Chocolates", one for each of her pals. Granted, she didn't have her father or brother's knack for this sort of thing, but she felt pretty satisfied with how hers came out. No air bubbles, clean and smooth, and the frosted decorations looked just fine--She couldn't wait for tomorrow...
