Arian was running late – about 10 minutes late and counting. The dark-haired teen had been so caught up in adding a few extra finishing touches to his craft project submission that it was only the shrill ringing of the final final bell that had made him realise that maybe just maybe he might want to get a move on – especially since he’d promised a fellow classmate that he would meet them at the library after classes since his usual Friday track practice had been cancelled.
It was for that reason that the dark-haired teen was doing something he didn’t usually do, dashing down the corridor at a quick trot his long braided hair swinging as he ran. The corridors had been mostly empty – not many students liked hanging around, especially not on Fridays and Arian had taken the opportunity to increase his pace slightly – only to find himself bumping into someone a few moments later. “I’m really sorry Miss” Arian’s tone was genuinely apologetic as he spoke to the girl he had bumped into. “I should have been paying more attention. Are you okay?”

Anming, unfortunately, was one of those students that tended to linger ever so slightly after class, but that was usually for one reason or another that didn't exactly have to do with her wanting to stay... though, really, it wasn't as if she didn't want to attend classes, either. As is, she had had to double back to her locker to get some homework she had accidentally stuck in there, having been a little absent minded, so it was by an unfortunate stroke of misfortune that she happened to be in the hallway at the time.
Somehow managing to avoid tumbling over, Anming's books weren't as lucky, as she ended up dropping them. Stooping down to pick them up, she looked over her shoulder to see who had bumped into her.
"No, it's alright, I'm okay," she assured him, "I should have been paying attention, too."

“I’m glad you’re okay” there was a note of relief to Arian’s quiet voice. Looking at the books on the ground the dark-haired teen set his bag down and bent down in order to help the girl pick up the books. “Please let me help you with that. It’s the least I can do.” As far as Arian was concerned it was the least he could do – it was after all his fault that his fellow Meadowview student had ended up dropping her books.

"You don't have to, really..." Anming assured him, though she didn't make any moves to stop him, as she continued to pick up the rest of the things she had been carrying. She really didn't want to trouble Arian, but she was grateful for the help all the same. When they were finished, Anming got to her feet, getting a better look at the person who had helped her.
"Xièxie- Thank you," she thanked him, wanting to be polite.

“It’s okay” Arian said, adding as an admission as he held out the books to the girl. “It was only fair I give you a hand considering it was my fault you dropped them in the first place.” As he waited for the other to take the books, the dark-haired teen got his first good look at the girl he’d bumped into.
She was short – shorter than him and at 5’3” the dark-haired teen wasn’t exactly the tallest of people himself – in fact he fell pretty solidly in the short range. If Arian was asked to guess he would say the girl was a good four to six inches shorter than him.
“I’m Arian by the way. Arian Laith.” If he wasn’t holding out the books, Arian would have held a hand out for the girl to shake. Instead the polite introduction would have to do.

Anming's height was always something she somewhat lamented. Combined with her looks and her tendency to dress simplistically, and people still mistook her for being a lot younger than she was. Call it genetics, tell her she'd be thankful for looking younger one day... right now, it was a pain to have to grab a stool every time she needed something from the cabinet, when cooking at home.
"Anming... Anming Lin," she told him in return, taking back her books, "It's nice to meet you. And... thank you again."

“It’s nice to meet you too Anming” Arian’s voice was sincere as he spoke the words, bending down to pick his bag back up and sling the strap so that the rucksack hung from a shoulder. “There’s really no need to thank me though – not with me being the one responsible for causing you to drop your books.” It felt a little strange being thanked for trying to make amends for an incident that he had helped cause. "I guess that's why I shouldn't run in the school halls."
The school corridors had fallen quiet in the time it had taken to gather up the books, with even the few lingerers that had been hanging around seemingly having headed home for the day. Arian was most definitely running late for that meeting at the library, but the dark-haired teen couldn’t have not stopped and help, it wouldn’t have been right.

"Ah, well, still, it's only polite to do so, I guess..." Anming awkwardly replied, even though he (admittedly) had a point. ... Oh well, it was too late to correct herself now.
At the mention of running in the halls, she couldn't help but be a little curious- was he late for something, in that case? "It's alright," she assured him, "You're probably late for something, aren't you...?
Or she was assuming, anyway. It would be a little embarrassing if she was incorrect in her assumptions, especially when she normally didn't voice them too often.

“I was working on my project for craft and kind of lost track of time...” Arian’s voice trailed off, Anming’s question having reminded him of the reason why he’d taken a chance of running in the hall in the first place. “And I’m supposed to be meeting a friend at the library since track practice was cancelled” he finished, voice rueful. He looked at the brown-haired girl “If you’re sure you’re okay, I should probably get going to that.” He had promised he’d be there after all – as it was the dark-haired teen was late enough that he was going to have to text his friend and apologise. Suiting actions to thoughts Arian rummaged through his rucksack for his phone before tapping a quick text off to his friend. -- Sorry, running late – got caught up in something at school, but should be there. -- Text sent he looked back at Anming, "It's been nice chatting to you Anming. Maybe we can do so again at some point." Dropping the phone back in the rucksack and then picking up the bag, Arian headed towards the school doors at a brisk walk – maybe he could make some of the time back if he ran the distance between school and the Destiny City library. ooc note: Posted a closing post to this rp as it's been a while since Meru's been on
