It would be soon, the fox thought to itself as she stepped through the early morning woods. Soon I will choose Cerberus again to father more progeny. It's time.

The kitsune put her nose to the ground and began to pick up on the scent of a nearby rabbit. With a lick of her chops she crouched low to the forest floor and began to stalk: her ears pricked high and forward. Her plethora of tails waved and twined behind her like a bed of snake as she hunted. She felt wholly more comfortable in this form - it was small, graceful, quick, and deadly. Though she knew if she was to be getting pregnant soon she wouldn't be able to change. Might as well fatten up and get it out of her system while she could.

But just as Kumiho was deliberating on her method of attack, the heard a rush of mass and the unmistakable scream of a rabbit's dying breath.

Stalking prey when you're the size of a horse isn't east, but Sarvara has a few advantages. If she concentrated - really concentrated very hard - she could see out of the yellow orbs that grew over her body. Not very well - the vision of hazy and fish-eyed at best - but she could catch movement and contrast just fine. She found that if she lay very still and meditated, she could just wait until some unsuspecting animal to just wander by...

Nice catch, Migi whispered to her as it rose up and hissed his words close to her ear. A clean kill.

Hidari also seemed to spring to life, gnashing its jaws. Too clean. You should have made it suffer more. You don't kill often enough, so when you do you could ennjjoooyyy it.

The mare snorted in derision, tossing her mane as she settled in to enjoy her kill. She didn't bother taking it away to hide: Sarvara was fearsome enough most Soquili cleanly avoided her altogether. She set into her meal, holding it down with her paws and she ate.

((note, Migi and Hidari, her tails, don't actually speak. They move and such, but the voices are in Sarvara's head and only she can hear them))

The fur ruffled on Kumiho's coat in rage. That was her kill! By Kalona, she would have her..

But after the flash of red in her eyes died off, she blinked and felt her vulpine jaw open in surprise. The deadly black mare that had taken her quarry was Sarvara! Her daughter from her first pregnancy with Cerberus. It had seemed like many moons since she had seen her and it stirred a strange emotion inside her.

While skinwalkers lack a maternal instinct - she did harbor a sort of possession-like attraction to her children, not too unsimilar to how she viewed Cerberus. Sarvara was hers and when her children grew up - and grew away - while other mothers may feel a since a pride for their children starting their own life... Kumiho couldn't help but feel a bit betrayed.

It was the closest thing to loss, or sadness, she had ever felt. And it made her uncomfortable and on edge.

The poor little creature probably had a family...Migi hissed at her as she ate. You don't have to do this, you know. You could choose to live just like everyone else. Eat grass and apples... maybe find a friend. Other than other bloodthirsty monsters.

But you are a monster, Hidari countered, You love it. Why deny what you are. You don't need anyone else. You should kill more... not just to eat. Every time another Soquili screams at your appearance - just rip out its throat!

The voices never stopped. Not even sleep seemed to give Sarvara a respite as the voices would talk to her there as well. She did her best to ignore their incessant snipping, but it echoed in her head like a cavern. She squeezed her eyes closed and tried to focus on the taste of her meal.

Kumiho paced in a tight circle. Part of her wanted to run away - why should she grace this ungrateful creature with her presence at all? She was replacing her soon anyway!

But part of her just couldn't leave without making herself known. Confront her - maybe challenge her.

She shook out her fur and concentrated, eventually coming back to her full Soquili form. Her tails swirled behind her dramatically as she stepped forward towards Sarvara, walking tall and unafraid.

Despite the constant hiss of voices rending her mind in two, her predatory ears were still attuned to the world around her. She heard the larger creature approaching and Sarvara quickly jumped to her paws, spinning around with a hiss. Her fur stood on end and her tails whipped back matched her posture - seeming to gnash their abstract mouths.

But - when all eyes were on this approaching figured - her posture dropped and she blinked. "Mother?" She spoke so rarely these days - the sound of her voice sounded strange to her own ears.

The skinwalker mare stood stonily still, save for her tails that twisted and wound behind her like entities of their own. "I did not expect to see you again," she said genuinely enough. "Ever since I you grew up from the confused little filly that you were."

She let her eyes roam over the form of her daughter. Her fur was shiny and healthy looking, jet black with a raven-like glimmer. Her mane was thick and full, and reflected the slight, warm yellow glow of her eyes - eyes not unlike her father - that peppered her body.

Her two tails seemed to be watching her, as if they were living, breathing creatures.

She was a sight to behold, and a small, dim, glow of pride bubbled up in her chest. After all there was a reason the purewalker had decided to bear children at all - not for a maternal reason or for companionship. No, it was the simple, biological imperative engrained in nearly every creature on earth. To create something new - like you but different, possibly better - to live on and continue your legacy.

She was happy with the match she had made with Cerberus. But once the foals came, she was at a loss of what to do. She wanted them to go out and fulfill their destiny - that's what they were created for! She had no real maternal instinct or overt affections for the the three helpless foxlings that had emerged from the basket. She was wholly unused to keeping others so helpless alive.

And though she did as was needed to keep them from certain peril - when they left she felt an odd sort of confusion. It was completely against her nature to let things go. Even if she didn't kill them, like Cerberus, they were hers.

Mother... bloody mother. Monster mother. Mother that made you. Made you what you are. Your horrid progenitor! She taught you to kill... she brought you into this world has some strange abomination, forever alone... Migi hissed in her mind.

Sarvara swallowed, dropping the fresh kill on the ground and facing her mother, feeling the conflict in pull her emotionally in twain. A part of her always had resenting her mother for mating with a mutant monster like her father - she didn't fit anywhere! Skinwalkers were generally just drooling, evil creatures - and purewalkers wanting nothing to do with her b*****d heritage. But normal Soquili, if they didn't find her terrifying to look out, were horrified by her boughts of savagery.

You can belong with her... Hidari countered. She made you. She accepts you. You can be yourself when you're with her....

The internal conflict was obvious in her eyes as she seemed nearly frozen in place - as if battling herself as to what to do.

A look of distaste flashed across her features; her daughter stared at her, as if frozen by fear. She help her gaze, lifting her head, but keeping her eyes locked with hers. "Maybe you're still just the confused filly..." she sneered. "Or perhaps you just got your father's gift with words," she said cuttingly. The sarcasm was evident, as Cerberus rarely spoke at all, and when he did it was rarely insightful or eloquent.

You are a disappointment even to that monster, Migi hissed, though it was still poised like a coiled snake. No one like you...you can't win!

Nonsense, Hidari hissed as it swayed like a cobra in a trance, She's just inviting you to challenge her. Do it - go for the throat! Look what she did to you...

Sarvara's eyes closed for just a moment to still her thoughts. "What do you want?" she finally asked - a barely audible shake in her voice. Sarvara's voice was surprisingly melodic for her monstrous form- clear, mid-toned, and feminine.

It was a fair question, and one that Kumiho wasn't sure she was prepared to answer. She was conflicted and emotional - and emotions were not easy for a purewalker like herself to process. Any resemblance to a feeling of compassion, affections, or guilt recoiled deep in her black soul - a repellent, scary feeling. And generally confused skinwalkers are dangerous ones - lashing out: Kumiho grew tense as she desired to quell the bubbling, vile, painful confusion with blood.

Thankfully, however, Kumiho's willpower was nearly outmatched for her race, and she managed to retain control...for now. "I made you," she said with a snarl on her lips. "I went through quite an ordeal to make you, actually. You seem so ungrateful to the mare that created you. Without me, you wouldn't exist."

You ungrateful wretch, Migi hissed, agreeing with their mother. You should show more respect to the creature that made you. As deformed and horrid as you are.

Sarvara shook her head, pleading for them to shut up, to go away.

Show her how powerful you really are, Hidari goaded. She dares to challenge you, mock you... you could have her throat. At least beat her down...prove to her you're stronger than she!

"You created a monster," Sarvara finally said, her voice growing stronger. "I don't fit in anywhere - not even amoung the walkers like you. What did you accomplish, exactly, mother?"

Sarvara stepped closer, the anger and confusion coming to a boiling point in her soul. She didn't know where this was going, or why she was getting so upset. What did she hope to achieve? To prove? Did she want to fight her? Did she resent her for letting her go? Did she even want to be loved or accepted by such a horrid creature such as her mother? An atypical skinwalker, sure.... but still an instrument of hate and pain.

The fur bristled along her back, her standing on end. Rage filled her version as her tails buffed out and she hear the deep, primal growl in her throat reverberate in her chest. So rarely did Kumiho let her more out-of-control skinwalker nature get the better of her... "How DARE you!" she screamed at her daughter, nearly shaking from the black monster's implication of inferiority. "You regret your existence so much? You should perhaps to be dead?

She lunged forward, her eyes boring into her daughter's, her muzzle pressing up against her threateningly. "I can arrange that, you ungrateful little cur!"

It was one of those few moments of clarity in her life: when all three of her minds spoke and moved as one. It was time for a kill; time to protect oneself. She let out a roar and lunged forward, her feet snapping up in front of her and catching in the thick fur of her mother. She gave a mighty push backward, jerking her head back to avoid the jaws of Kumiho she was sure to come next.

Her tails whipped forward like a snake, snapping and striking at Kumiho's face. They had no real jaws to speak of, so they did no damage- but it was a frustrating and confusing annoyance to the escalated skinwalker.
