I know it is not exactly what you are looking for, but there is always Skype calls (or something similar) - where you actually get to see the other person. It is a bit more like actually being with someone then just text.
I wish I could fly everyone to one central location to meet in person, I think that would be really fun (all though expensive).

hey sorry to hear but I was wondering if there were some furries around a small town called Apple Valley or Victorville in California? I too am a lonely furry and I'm about to move so my old friends are friends I won't be able to see for a while =(
