It was a long, exciting trip after a long, terrifying experience; as much as she wanted to be out and about, she was tired. Her body was feeling heavy, her mind fuzzier than normal, and it was time to relax. After she had been shown to her room she decided that was the end to today's adventures in the Estate (oh Jack, she still couldn't believe she was in an estate!), and took a seat on the floor, her back against the bed.
Amrita sighed heavily without really needing to, settling into a more comfortable for her position which, apparently, was to tuck her feet under her, rest her cheek on her knee and hold her legs against her chest. For a moment she rested there with her eyes closed, feeling herself drift in and out of consciousness. That was, of course, until she heard a knock.
"...Yes?" Groggy eyes lifted to stare at the door, wondering who would possibly be there.

Calder was waiting at the door, brushing his hoof against the lavish carpet that covered the hallway and looking around behind him at the many paintings on the wall. Even the knob to Amrita's door was lavish, and he hoped he didn't wind up breaking anything. He'd probably be working the rest of his life just to pay it off.
Apprehensive, he tapped the door again, before opening it slowly. "Amritaa...." He sang softly. "....you're not asleep already, are you?" A common question that really shouldn't be asked if the answer was yes.

The Vetala perked up as she recognized the voice, focusing for a moment on the door as it eased open. Calder...Calder was visiting her? Why? ...And why Calder? The boil was nice, but...they hadn't really interacted much, if at all. Hrm. Maybe...maybe he was being nice?!
"I-I'm awake!" She insisted, scrambling to her feet. It wasn't an easy go either; in fact, it was quite the opposite. Her limbs didn't want to move, but on her insistance they had no choice, creaking and cracking as she stood. Quickly closing the distance between herself and her new guest, she put her hand on the other side of the knob, at least pretending to help him keep it open.
"Um, Hi, come in...?" A little late of a sentiment, but at least it was there. "What's up?" She asked, honestly curious. "Can't sleep?" To be honest, she wasn't sure if he slept, or if he had even attempted; it just seemed like a good question. She didn't move away from the door but she didn't block it either, just in case he wanted in.

The door eased open and soon he saw Amrita standing in front of him. He had heard the stomping of feet and was surprised she had rushed to the door. Being used to Barth who didn't even bother getting up, and Christof who usually didn't even bother with addressing him, it was strange in how normal it was. He smiled to her, and was glad to see she was awake. Not even in any sort of night gown either, which meant she hadn't been heading to bed either. At least, he hoped not. It wasn't like he wore much of any clothes at night (and sometimes none at all), so she could have been heading bed.
"Um...yeah. I hope I'm not bothering you. It's just, this place is new and I've gotten so used to sleeping with someone else. I'm still a little restless and felt like talking. I mean. If you want to sleep. That's okay. I could maybe walk around a bit...." The idea of walking the dark estate alone bothered him. Barth had told him to be careful, and the place was very large. Getting lost would probably be easy.
"....are you tired?" He asked, still in the door. With Christof or Barth, he'd walk right in, but he wasn't sure if Amrita would be annoyed he had come to see her when they had spent a long day being shown about. She was smaller than he was, and he wondered if she got tired easily.

While Calder was surprised by her eagerness to meet him at the door, Amrita was surprised by his lack of barging right in; most of her friends did it, even if a few of them did pretend to knock first. Then again...there was that whole 'new person feel' to this, even if they weren't new to each other.
"Oh! N-no, not a bother at all!" She squeaked, raising her hands in front of her to wave them both, as if brushing away the thought. "It is n-new and--" Her agreement came very quickly; she wasn't used to sleeping with anyone, but this was a new place. Everything was lavish and beautiful, and she was used to the dank, dirty basement with questionable concrete flooring. When she realized she was about to ramble she made herself stop and take a moment before trying again.
"This place is kind of overwhelming..." The Vetala admitted with a sheepish smile before moving, gesturing to invite him in. "I would really like the company." She stayed near the door long enough to close it after he was safely in the room, trying to click it shut as quietly as possible. "S-so, um, how are you doing?" Clearly, she was still working on the whole conversation thing.

Amrita didn't need to worry about rambled. Calder welcomed it, and exercised it daily. The moment he was let in the room, he felt relief in that she wasn't shooing him away. He really would have just been pacing in his room, and then probably would have pawed at Barth's door even though he was probably just as tired. He didn't want to show Barth that he was a little uneasy or overwhelmed by his massive home, and only wanted to show the best of faces and show him that he could fit in well with his family and lifestyle. Why? Did he even think that in some way, down the rode, that he would be living with Barth like this? He wasn't sure.
Stepping in, he sighed and plopped down on her bed. "This place is just so BIG. I feel my eyes aren't big enough to see it all, and everything is so clean and dainty and ....RICH looking. I'm afraid I might break something." All things in the monster dorms were durable or easily replaceable due to the very wild and rough nature of monsters. "I love that I'm here. It's exciting, and I'm glad I got to come, but...there is so much. Also.." he shifted a little. "...last time I went anywhere, things sorta ended badly. I don't like being alone when I'm somewhere strange." He looked around. "This place isn't even close to being like Christof's castle."

One the door was carefully - and quietly - closed, Amrita padded back towards the bed. Instead of sitting on it with Calder, she took up her original spot on the floor, tucking her feet under her and holding her knees to her chest, but this time she was looking up at him. No offense was meant of course, she just really preferred the floor...even if it was terribly extravagant by her standards.
"It is big!" She agreed readily, nodding. Actually, she agreed with everything Calder had to say about this place; big, clean, dainty, breakable, Rich-looking; even right down to being excited and glad she came. Ever polite Amrita waited for Calder to finish speaking; or at least, she tried to. "Y-You can stay here if you want...!" Her offer was a little too eager; she didn't like to be alone in strange places either! Especially somewhere so lavish! "I...I've never been anywhere other than home and school before - um, o-other than, ah, yanno, school trips, b-but--" Oh Jack, rambling again! The ghoul started twisting a handful of hair between her hands, shifting her gaze shyly from Calder to the floor. "B-but, um, none of those places are so...so..." At a loss for words, she merely gestured to the room which, she was pretty sure, should have belonged to royalty. Maybe the Pumpkin King's room? Either way, too rich for someone like her. Her corpse-hazed eyes widened as something he said finally clicked in.
"W-wait! Christof..." The pause was unintentional. "H-has a castle?!" Shock and awe! Shock and awe.

"Yeah. I forgot field trips, but...well, those don't count. They're not really times to go sight seeing. We never have fun field trips. I'd like to go someplace fun just ONCE." He huffed, turning on his side to look down at Amrita. He didn't get why she was on the floor when her bed was so soft. Sure, he liked a nice floor when it was very plush with plants and soft dirt, but that was just a plain floor with a carpet. Not exactly alluring in any way.
"And, well, he doesn't OWN a castle. Dr. Fell, his Master, has one, but he lives there. It's REALLY big, but isn't as....well, full of all these pretty things as Barth's home is. Very..." How did he say this nicely? "....natural. I wanted to visit him for the summer, and took Barth with me." He wondered if Amrita would get sad that she wasn't taken along. "Sorry. I didn't know you that well before. If I knew, I would have dragged you along, too. Don't worry though. You didn't miss much. Christof was really tired from his upgrades, and Dr. Fell doesn't like people." Well, he did, but only to make creepy remarks about how valuable they were in pieces or could wind up missing. "...Christof was really busy too, and we had to leave very shortly after. The...machine Igors there didn't like us." He avoided her gaze as he tried to walk around the subject of them being attacked. He had seen Amrita looking at Christof and didn't want to paint a bad picture of his friend. "....but it's very nice there." He was trying.
"...speaking of, how did you two meet? I remember you were there the first time I met Christof and we got in a fight. When I tore his stitches open. " Calder shuffled a bit on the bed and patted the space beside him in a 'come closer' gesture.

The mention of his Master made her expression darken. Ah...so he did have a name! The ghoul was frowning now, her backwards hand resting on the side of her face that Christof had slapped once; she had switched bodies since then, but the phantom feeling was there. It was a memory she would carry proudly now, because it was one of the first times she had ever stood her ground for something. She snapped out of her grim as he apologized, where she instead offered a little smile and a slow shake of her head.
"N-no, it's okay, I was, um, busy, too." She spoke disjointed, not sure how to tell him that while Christof was gone she had also tried to go home. But how could you tell a mostly-stranger 'I only made it halfway home before I turned around and came back, since I'm a huge coward who can't face my family'? You couldn't, that's how. So busy would suffice, certainly. After that she did her best to push aside any thought of her cowardice and listened to the picture he was trying to paint for her. "Sounds, um...lovely." She didn't sound too convinced though; Calder was trying, but she already had a deep-seated dislike of Christof's Master, which didn't bode well for anything he had that wasn't Christof.
Which was strange, she didn't usually have the capacity hold grudges at all. Interesting.
"Ah...aha...yes, I remember." She smiled sheepishly, staring at the way he pat the bed. Umm...he wanted something from her, clearly. Nngh but...the bed was so uncomfortable! Slowly she crawled to her feet, sliding to sit awkwardly on the edge of the bed. So out of her element already aaaaaa--- "I...err, we...met on the train to Christmas a year ago..." Amrita informed him, smiling sheepishly down at her hands, which fidgeted on her lap. "He...he wanted to cut off my hands n' feet, t-to put them right!" The thought seemed to amuse her now; at the time (and for some time after) it had been terrifying, but now she could speak of it almost fondly.
"Uhh...Why did you attack him?" She questioned, very very belatedly.

He in no way thought he was making Amrita uncomfortable, either by what he said or offering her to take a seat. He only thought she was being bashful and liked to have someone close when talking to them. Talking down to her, all curled up, made him worry she was afraid, and he didn't want that. They weren't really at the buddy-buddy level yet, but he didn't want to have her afraid or wary of him. It put him on edge. Instead, she scooted to leave her plenty of room and continued to be lazy on her bed.
"He wanted to re-arrange your limbs? That is so cute of him. I guess being a bit of a fixer, he'd want to just put everything in working order. How did you even get him to stop? You were so tiny then. I could just imagine him lumbering over and trying to pull them off." He smiled at the idea. "Too bad I wasn't around them. I bonked my head on the train and then got lost in the woods." He hadn't meet anyone there, but from what he heard, maybe he was better off not following everything. Still, it had been cold and lonely in the woods. He barely remembered most of it.
"Oh, well, I heard Christof was an Igor and Riley was in Etiquette class ordering him around. I didn't get it and followed after him to his room, and was saying he should just live how he wanted to and not be ordered around. I REALLY didn't get Igor's back then, or the whole demon thing. Well, he got really upset about all I said, we fought, and then I popped his stitches at the last moment on accident. It at least surprised him enough to stop trying to kill me. After that.." Calder shrugged. "...I wanted to know more about him. To get what he was so hard up fighting over. That and I didn't get why anyone would want to be an Igor when he wrote me a note in class that was really smart. It didn't make sense to me." He thought about it. "Sometimes I still don't get it." He rolled over a bit on his back, stretching out his arms before looking back at her. "Though I'm glad he went from trying to kill me to to being friends - even if I don't get him at times."
To this he smiled up at her. "And how did you two get along? You seem very.....close."

"Y-yeah, he went..." She made chopping motions with her backwards hands, trying to recall exactly how he had breeched the subject. There was a lot of charades then, certainly. Being called a fixer made her flush sheepishly, somewhat embarrassed over having that little rotting body. "Ah...Johan. Johan got him to stop." It certainly wasn't her! Calder was right; she was too small to stop him from doing as he pleased, and even now that hadn't changed. "...Well, Johan, and the train crashing." She added with a smile. "Ah...I'm sorry you got lost. The actual trip was terrifying. And not in the good way."
The story, like so many of Calder's stories, made complete sense to her. She still didn't get Igors, or the whole serving thing. It was something so different! All she could do was nod in agreement, shuffling back a little further onto the bed just enough to hug her knees again, merely because it was comfortable. "I don't get him ever...but I'm happy he's got a friend in you." Calder received a thankful smile this time. "A-and thank you for accidentally popping his stitches...it didn't last long but...he really looked happy." But after that he turned sour and violent and dark...and again, not in the good way.
"Aahh...Um. W-well, during Christmas he hung around some and he travelled with Johan, Lizzy and I. Err, near the end of the trip I was given a Death Charm and when he hatched he was...really rowdy, and scared me a lot." She confided in Calder, clearly embarrassed; then again, Death Charms were very fire based, and she was very undead. "One day he - err, DC - chased me and I accidentally ended up in Chris' room, s-so we talked and I told him some things I'd never told anyone before..." Amrita was blushing again as she recalled this, the moment she started to trust him.
"We've been friends ever since. Um. I think so, anyway." Well, she considered him a friend, even when he hit her or ignored her or been absent when she needed him. "He even built me this body, did I tell you that?" She held out her arms as if showing off her body. Truth be told it was Christof and Malodore, but they weren't talking about Malodore! Or Riley, who also helped a lot.

Calder rolled over onto his stomach, setting his head in his hands, elbows prompted up on the bed, and watching Amrita with a wide smile. She spoke slowly, in burst of thought, as she went through the stepping stones of memory, and he could her passing emotions from this place on memory lane to the next dance on her features. At the mention of her body, he looked her over, leaning over to one side to then reach his hands up and inspect her arm. He let out a whistle. "Very nice. I was wondering if you had a master or mistress that fixed you up like Christof did. I was going to say they did better work. Dr. Fell just seems mean." Since he didn't get why the man wouldn't work very hard to make Christof prettier, though nothing against his friend, but he thought the man would have been more careful. The way he forced Christof to work, the pain he had heard when he was operated upon, indicated the man just didn't care for the Igor.
"You look very pretty. Very ...grown up." Well, she was taller and more curvacious. "I didn't know. Christof doesn't tell me much to what he's up to, and he's always working, so I'm left in the dark a lot of the time. It's nice that he did this. Did.........was it a order?" He asked, wanting to see if someone put him up to it. He had a feeling, but he wanted to be sure about it.

"A-ah, no, I don't have a...err, well, I asked Christof if this made him my Master, but I don't think he took it too well." She sheepishly scratched the back of her neck. "I think Christof's Master is mean...I told him that once, and he---" The ghoul paused, wondering if she could continue. Clearly she decided against it, as her next words were entirely different. "I think he's the good kind of scary!" If the ghoul could get starry eyes, now would be it; but it was a brief glimmer, one easily buried by startled confusion. These feelings...she still didn't understand them, and they were alarming at best.
"Ah! Thank you! I really, really like it, except---" There was a very brief gesture to her chest, but instead of making it too obvious she merely wrapped her arms around her stomach after. Something akin to disgust - or perhaps irritation - flashed across her features at the mention of an order. Orders. She didn't like them; she didn't like how they took over his life. It wasn't fair to him, it just wasn't! Her expression thankfully softened moments later.
"No, it wasn't an order...After I told him about me, he...he actually went to Mal and Riley for help, even though I asked him not to tell anyone...he's a good boil." Then she was regarding Calder carefully, watching him as he sprawled on the bed; it looked cozy, but...nngh beds were never cozy! "How did you meet him? B-barth, I mean! You two look close!"

He noticed the gesture, and his eyes stopped at her chest. Just because he wasn't into ghouls didn't mean he knew what boils generally liked. The moment she wrapped her hands about her, Calder guessed it just wasn't something she wanted to talk about. Maybe if she was upgraded again, Calder could make some suggestions. He was rather surprised Christof hadn't added more in, or that Riley had some sense to make a comment. As for Mal, well, Mal went for logical. "It's a very curvy body. Very good work. You should think about how you would like to look next year. I hope Christof let you have lots of input when he went helping you with this one. Maybe next time, I can help!" He didn't know the first thing about assembling the undead, but he hoped by learning he'd get a better grasp of his undead friends.
"I'm surprised Christof helped. He usually doesn't do anything unless ordered, though when he does have a good idea, he really does great things. He must have felt a very good reason to help you. He doesn't help just anyone." Calder smiled, trying to nudge her a bit. "I mean, you must be very special to him." The dopey smile continued when she mentioned Barth.
"Oh, Christof introduced me to Barth. Seeing as he was his master in school, it was bound to happen. I wanted to learn more about demons and marks and all that, though I liked Barth much more than Riley. We started talking, and Barth had no problem with me just showing up whenever I wanted or talking to him. We started out talking about Christof, and then everything else after. After a while, we just felt something for each other, and then during the Haunted House, when Barth was taken, well, I knew I wanted him bad. I mean, I felt it before, but was super sure when I wanted to save him. We've been going out ever since." He grinned, covering a smile with one hand a moment as he tried to let the giddiness die away to compose himself. Even now, he always felt fluttery mentioning how it all had happened.
"He's the longest relationship I've ever been in. He's ddrreeeaammmyy." He sighed, and then looked over at Amrita. "I'm sure you know."

Oooh, Calder had some great points! She actually hadn't thought much about her next body! This one was kind of wearing thin; there were more scars and stitches on it than when it was first built. A new body was probably an order in the future, maybe her next year? "I would love your help!" Aaah! Calder was so smart! He'd know exactly how to help! Christof had let her give some input, but certain things were all him.
Hmm...Did that mean she was special to him? That actually made a strange flutter in her chest, even if the heart no longer beat. Naw, that couldn't be it; Christof was a nice boil with really, really rough edges. He helped a lot of other people, right? Right!
She listened intently as he recalled how he met Barth; the Kelpie looked so happy! His giddiness was contageous, and Amrita found herself leaning forward on the bed, one hand used to prop herself up while the other hovered over her mouth as though sharing some really important, very ghouly information. Even Amrita could grasp that they seemed to be opposites; Barth was slow and really...even, for lack of better words, while Calder was excitable, eager, energetic. Opposites attracted, didn't they? What made her pause was his assumption. Her once giddy narrowed eyes opened in curiousity and the hand near her mouth lowered another inch or two, just hovering in the air.
"...Know what?"
