Hydro treaded lightly on the soft grass of the open field feeling a little better with life, but not by much. She still felt pain and hurt, but she tried her best to push it into the back of her mind. It was over and done with; there wasn’t anything she could do to change the situation. She needed to be happy for herself, but it was just so hard for her. She was strong and usually was never like this, but when she opened her heart to Calon that very first time, she cracked. She began to feel too deeply for things that she shouldn’t have and as a result got hurt more time then she needed to.
As she walked onto the field, she eyed the tree that swayed a little in the breeze. This was hers and Kore’s favorite meeting spot. One that probably wouldn’t be forgotten in her mind even though she would love it if it disappeared from the earth and let her be at peace. Watching it through her thick blue strands of hair, she gave a distorted kind of grin. It was painted with pain and sadness.
“You are my past..”
She spoke softly as he hair blew in the breeze finally giving a little light to her face. She felt dead. Nothing inside her seemed alive and the only way she knew she was is because she was breathing. There was no sun in her life, not brightness or anything of the sort that would bring happiness or warmth. She was cold and strained.
As she turned away from the tree and the breeze stopped, a single tear fell down her muzzle only to be hid by her blue strands. She walked slowly away lowering her head and hiding her face once more from the world.

Meanwhile, Fionuir and Zacarias had stopped for a rest under a nearby and large oak tree that would give them shelter from the heat of the sun. While he was off doing other things, probably trying to find water or food or something for them to eat, the mare decided that it was time to wander off for a ways on her own. She still couldn’t help but feel annoyed at his constant presence. Not once could she go off on her own without him saying something akin to that he needed to go with her. Did he not understand the meaning of private time? The thoughts made her growl lowly in her throat as she made her way out of the shade and into the warmth of the afternoon sun. It was a great day to travel that was for sure. The sun was out, the supple grass under her hooves offered a comforting path, and the air wasn’t humid or overly hot. It was perfect.
As it was Fionuir sighed at finally getting some time to herself, but she found herself wanting to find some water. Maybe she could find them some food down by a lake or something. That way when the stallion did come back to find her gone he wouldn’t get too mad and protective. She was just as capable as he was to sustain them; she wasn’t a traditionalist by any means. There have been many times where she had to protect herself. It wasn’t terribly hard, really. But alas he had his ways and she had hers. He would just have to accept that. As she got further away from the tree Fionuir began to relax more, a bigger swing in her step at the independence she felt again. It was glorious.
However, quite suddenly, her ears picked up on a semi-quiet sob. Fionuir stopped for a moment to perk both of her ears forward, eyes scanning the area for where the sound was coming from. As she twisted her body from one direction to another she spotted a mare not too far ahead of her, walking along slowly with her head bowed low. Fionuir tilted her head to the side in silent curiousness. It wasn’t a skinwalker nor was it any other type meat eater. But the sound of crying made her wonder if the mare was injured or something. Taking a look around to make sure the other mare wasn’t being used as bait or being followed by a meat eater, she walked forward towards the other. As she got closer she could see the dark blue tresses that made up her mane and tail, a distinctive large blue splotch was on her rump. If this mare wasn’t crying Fionuir would think she’d be quite pretty.
“Excuse me,” she called out softly so as to not startle anyone, “are you alright?”

The blue haired mare heard a voice from behind her making her stop in her tracks. She turned her head only slightly even though her blue hair was covering most of her face. She didn’t know why tears were falling. She didn’t even feel them and didn’t know if that was a good thing or a bad thing. She felt sick and tired. She wanted to rest she wanted freedom from all of this unneeded stress. It was a neverending cycle in her head and in her heart. She kept thinking that maybe she could have done something different. Maybe she was too happy for him? Happy…heh that was something she hadn’t felt in a long time. There was no smile that had grazed her lips for months maybe even longer.
“I’m fine…why would you care anyway?”
She shot a glare at the mare with a bit of anger sliding off her tongue from those words. She didn’t want to talk about happiness and the possibility of happy endings because they didn’t exist. It was a myth and only that. Turning her head forward, she looked at the distance in front of her feeling her tears cool on her face in the cool air.
“What do you want?”
She flicked her tail in annoyance.

Fionuir’s eyes shot up at the angry tone in the mare’s voice. It was quite the opposite of what she was expecting with a soquili who was crying. It certainly caught her off guard. The words didn’t necessarily piss her off, but they sure did jolt her into a more attentive state of mind. What happened to this mare that would cause her to be in such a state? It bothered Fionuir and made her concerned. This wasn’t right. No mare should be left in such a state and she wanted to know who did this to this mare.
“I care because no mare should be left alone to cry. I was merely walking to try and find a lake or stream so I can let my…”she paused for a moment trying to find the right word, “travelling partner know there’s water nearby before we head off again.”
Fionuir swished her tail to swat a fly away and also in annoyance, “suffice to say he’s been a particular nuisance since following me and telling me I can’t take care of myself. But that’s neither here nor there. I wanted to be sure that you weren’t physically hurt and in need of medical attention. However, seeing you up close I don’t think the wounds are physical in nature….”

Was this mare being honest with her? Someone really didn't like to see her cry and feel like the dirt on the ground beneath her? She didn't believe anything anymore, but there was something honest and true about what the mare had said. She wouldn't question it and would simply let the words linger there. Her head lifted up a little bit to look at the other mare feeling the strands of her hair fall off to the sides showing her face. She tried so much to hide it and who she was from the world. Maybe it was something that couldn't be helped and she should just live with it?
"You are so kind...why be kind to me?" She asked following her closely hearing her words a little bit making her look down. "Your right my wounds are more mental and emotional then physical." She told the other as she began to walk slowly. "Do you want to try and find that lake or stream? We could go searching for it?" She asked her feeling a tiny bit better and hoped for the life of her that this mare could help her. She wasn't going to lay everything on her or it, but it was a hope. She was getting tired of being depressed all the time.
"I never told you my name...It's Hydro. What is your name?" She asked looking over to the other with a small smile. This was a step in the right direction.
