Marceline had started off her day unlike most others with a trip to a river nearby the clove den she had made in the forest. After she had, had her fill of it's sweet nectar she began a light trot away from the river and the forest, heading further down to the beach that was situated right between the Aawiusdi Plains and the mountains. This day was slightly unusual from most others due to the fact that she was only doing a light trot which differed from her usual heavy gallop in the morning and the fact that she was heading to the the beach. She had only visited the beach once here in these new lands and that was at least a couple weeks before when she was on the other side of the Atalyyi Pass. The trek had been fairly easy to navigate, thankfully the bandits were out of season for now.
As she made her way onto the sand she shook her head. She could have handled herself just fine if there had been. But then again, she wasn't to keen on an unneeded fight. Well most of the time anyways. Like today, her heart just wasn't really in it. At least not this early in the morning. That could very easily change by the afternoon or evening. Letting out a small snort Marceline slowed to a simple brisk walk and reached the water within moments. Stopping before it she peered over at her reflection in the water, then focused deeper so that she could see the small fish that were swimming to and fro on the bank. A small and very light whinny escaped her lips, one of happiness. However that quickly faded back behind the wall she had been taught to build up from a very young age by both her parents and former herd mates.
All her life she had been trained to be a warrior or protector of those that could not protect themselves or those that were simply able to bribe them enough to protect them unnecessarily. It was not the way of her people to usually protect someone who could protect themselves, but that was not to say it wouldn't happen if her herd needed a certain item or information they couldn't otherwise obtain. Of course there were a multitude of reasons as to why they might have accepted the offer.
Raising her head back to it's normal level she gazed out of the vast sea. It was a shame she couldn't breath underwater. She would gladly explore it's vast depths and reaches. Hm. Exploring. That was something she had not done in a very long. Since she was a filly in fact and she was positive now that the exploring she had done did not involve all the things she had, had to do then due to being just another training exercise. Maybe it was time for her to try doing some of these things. Marceline snorted. Yeah, she and everyone else would have to see that play out. Because it was highly unlikely that would happen anytime soon. Though, she had to admit to herself that she did feel it's draw and only time would tell if she would indeed allow herself to let down her wall and convictions. If only for a little while.
