Personality:Strengths:Weaknesses:History:When Malik was born from his little egg he was of course born in the Lake of Rage just like most of his follow Magikarps. He wasn't anything special. Malik's young life consisted of living the life of being caught by trainers, released by the trainers, and being of course re-caught by a different trainers. It was a source of food for the young Magikarp (the fish baits was delicious) and he didn't mind much if he was one hit KO by most of the trainers. He knew he was unwanted by the humans and he was perfectly content with that.
Life for Malik was rather peaceful until the arrival of those odd ball group in black. Self declare that the Lake was to be the perfect testing grounds they began to catch the inhabitants of the lake on a massive scale. At first everyone was happy. Maybe finally the humans won't look down on them so much, maybe finally they'll get the much needed experience to become something greater. However as the days goes on the excitement began to die out to worry, then fear. They see the same group of the black suit humans come back day after day to catch them. Those who are caught? Never to be seen again. Families was torn apart, or sometimes whole family just vanish.
Many had want to fight back but the Magikarps can't do anything to flail on dry land. That had apparently amused those people in black. Sometimes they force some Magikarp out to land and watched as the pokemons flail in futile. Sometimes they use the Magikarps as target practice. Those humans began to inflict more and more of those painful entertainment as the days pass by. The inhabitant of the lake began to organize a sort of 'sacrificial group'. The group was completely voluntary and their job was to protect the rest of the pokemon by swimming near the surface of the lake when those humans are present. That way, only they have to bear the burden of the torture and capture. Many older pokemon signed up for that role wishing to protect the young at the very least. Malik also volunteer himself feeling the need to do his own part at protecting their bleak future. So day after day, they swim near the top of the lake getting nick and scars as they battle their way to survive another day. Of course, many of them was caught and for each one of those missing Magikarp, Malik himself grew bitter and bitter.
Luckily for the inhabitant of the lake, one year after the appearance of the cruel humans those men in blacks stop coming. No one question why they're gone nor where they went. They were just happy that those human are gone. Slowly life began to resume to normal, or as normal as it can be. The people of the lake no longer bite the bait of the human trainers and in turn the human traffic began to slow down and vanish. Isolation was bless and the poor Magikarps have more then enough trauma to last them through a life time.
Unfortunately a different monster began to appear amongst the pokemon of the lake. At first thought to be a common sickness soon become an raging epidemic. The symptoms? At first it was nothing but a nagging headache. The dull kind that doesn't go away and make the affected pokemon feel sluggish and sick. Then soon after depending on the person, they just, well, snap. Becoming nothing more then a being of rage the pokemon would attack anyone and everyone no matter how strong or weak they are. No one can figure out what was wrong. No one can pacify them. Worst of all, there doesn't seem to be any indicator of who will be affected at any given time. This time fear give away to paranoia and those who are not affected are forced to battle for their lives. It was madness. Pokemon against pokemon sick or not, striking anyone and everyone that they have encounter.
Malik himself had it better then most. Surviving the horrific event inflicted by the humans in black, it was easy for him to flee from any hostile pokemon. His heart breaks into pieces as he watch the horrific even unfold. It was one thing to try to fight against an enemy but it's hell fighting your own friends and family. He had first had hope. But it diminished as more people fall victim to the mysterious illness. Until one day he began to have his very own headache. Fearing for the fate of the others, he confronted his best friend, a follow Magikarp he had met from the 'sacrificial group' telling his best friend to kill him if he must to stop his descend to madness. After, he isolated himself in a remote part of the lake waiting for his oncoming fate.
The memory Malik have at this period was hazy at best. He only recall the terrible rage and glimpse of his best friend begging him to come to his senses. Then next thing he knew there was blood, terrible horrible blood making the water around them tinge with red. The taste in his mouth was copper and he was dimly aware that his best friend was drifting slowly to the bottom of the lake leaving behind ribbons of red. There was a moment of shock and horror before the madness took hold again and he knew no more.
In the aftermath Malik found himself as a Gyarados. Not usual with it's coat of blue, but instead retain his coat of red. Of course the memory of his best friend flew into his mind. Not sure if the images was a dream or not he set off swimming to their living area to see if he was ok. As he approach the area, Malik was relieved to find that the people of the lake had also came back to normal. Delighted he tries to get close only to have the other Magikarps swim away in fright. Realizing that they do not recognize him, Malik try to explain to everyone that he is who he is. The other Magikarps was of course skeptical, Gyarados don't live in their home lake usually, what if this new pokemon is going to try to take their homes away? When nearly all hope is lost, a voice called out from the crowd, an extremely battered and wounded Magikarp came into view. It took Malik a few seconds to realize this was his best friend. Suddenly flashes of those fragments of memory flew across his eyes and horror settle in the pits of his stomach.
Guilt-ridden, he can only stand by and listen as the battered Magikarp explain to everyone what has transpire to Malik. Silence remain as everyone absorbs the implication of what has happen. Nevertheless it was still his Best Friend who broke the icey silence. Looking up to the obviously guilt-ridden Malik, he reassure the newly changed Gyarados that none of it was his fault and that his wounds will heal. He then pointed to the right side of his face. "Besides, I did quite a number on you too." Curious, Malik look around for a reflective surface and was surprised to see that he now bore a cross shaped scar on his face. Not all too terribly amused by his best friend's lack of care for himself, Malik was about to reply when the elder of the Magikarp interrupted.
First and foremost the Elder express his relieve at Malik and his best friend for coming back in one piece. The Elder then went on and explain how suddenly the illness just vanished overnight as if they never existed in the first place. After explaining the general situation The Elder turns to Malik and with a voice full of sorrow informed Malik that even though he was under the influence of the illness he will have to be exiled from the village. Shaken to the core, Malik ask the elder for the reason. Warily, the Elder explain how after Malik nearly tore his best friend to pieces somehow he was able to summon a storm unlike anything seen before. It lay destruction upon the area where the storm took place and the other pokemons in the area suffer in consequences. On behalf off all of the pokemon in the area, they have ask Malik to leave, never to return to the Lake for they fear his destructive power.
"However, I do have a personal request as well..." mutter the Elder as he look towards Malik. "What we have suffer was no ordinary event. We do not know what has cost this nor do we have the power to stop it should it happen once more." Pausing to make sure Malik was listening the Elder continued, "Therefore, we would wish to ask you to find out the cause of our misfortune and on behalf of all of us, use your power to stop whatever it is should it happen once more. Even if the forest surround this lake is full of unfriendly faces, we are still your friends and family. We believe in you." "Besides it's not like we won't see you again." Best Friend adds on, " One day some of us will become Gyarados, and then we can met again in the great ocean beyond." All Malik can do was to nod, emotion overloading. Even if Malik was reassure that none of it was directly his fault, he still feel the guilt. And thus, the quest handed out to him by the elder was in a way redemption in his eyes. It give him something to accomplish, something solid and constant in the changes that will be coming. And Malik accept the task gladly, he welcome it into his heart.
After, Malik was permitted to stay overnight to recover his strength and gather supplies. At the dawn of the next morning, Malik left for the ocean never to return to his beloved birth place.
Over the course of next several years, he was able to encounter an Musharna that granted him the body of a human. Even though he detest the human for what they have done to his friends and family, he also understood that by staying as a pokemon, he is hopeless stop the humans from enslaving him. Taking up the offer he became a Ginjinka hoping that with this new power he can finally move forward in this quest to find out about the humans that dress in black.
