The sun was still low in the sky, leaving a slight chill across the landscape. It wasn't unusual to find Doan Vien up early, in fact, the only one who seemed to rise before her was her winged son, Xuan Teo. A little while earlier she had seen him leave through heavy, tired eyes, but had lowered her head and fallen back to sleep again. A strange feeling had pulled her back to consciousness an hour or so later and now she was out and about, mulling around near the pear tree. It was barren thanks to the season, but she still found a comfort in this spot.
"I wonder," she mused aloud to herself, thinking back on the twinge in her stomach that had forced her out of what was otherwise a sound and happy sleep. Flicking an ear, she turned her head back to the direction of the cave.
Xuan had wandered elsewhere this morning, she was sure, to a small pond he had found and fallen into when he was young. What a silly situation that had been, the poor boy immediately thought he was drowning, but the water barely reached his chest. It was the only time, even when he was a foal, that she remembered her son acting at all spastic. He was such a calm thing. Canting her head, she smiled, somewhat painfully. Thinking of her three children always made her think of Hong Yen Ha, her beautiful daughter whom she hadn't seen in so, so long. And now that Doan was thinking of children, that feeling from earlier twisted in her again.

Illidan stretched, wings fanning out, as he yawned, still groggy from just waking up. He flapped his wings once to get the kinks out, then folded them close and shook himself before heading out of the cave. He noticed Doan Vien standing there and smiled, figuring she was looking for the only foal of hers that had stayed with them. Their family had grown quite a bit with the three foals she had birthed and he'd done his best to be a father to them just as his mate had been a mother to Coridan... wherever his son had gotten off to these days.
However, he'd felt lately something was missing He and Doan both had offspring, but none together. Perhaps it was time to remedy that, if she was ready to. He stood at the cave, watching her, the way the sunlight played on her coat and wings. A soft sigh of admiration and affection escaped him at the sight. Yes, he was definitely ready to be a father again.

At some point her gaze had lost its focus as she pulled inward, thinking. Things had changed a lot from the days when she wandered the land alone, fearing connection and rejecting relationships. It had lost her precious time with good friends, some of whom she could no longer see anymore. It was hard, but she vowed silently that some day soon she would travel the land again, just long enough to rekindle some of those old friendships. It was something she would have to do for herself, for her own spiritual well being. Illidan had helped her over a very hard roadblock in her life and she knew he would always be there for her, but that didn't mean she was going to stop standing on her own four hooves, as well. But for now…
A large, dark figure moved into the line of her blurry vision. Blinking, she focused her eyes and a smile tipped the corner of her mouth up without fail. For now she was here, where she wanted to be, with who she wanted to be with. They both seemed to be taking a moment to admire the other, but after a while she canted her head, letting out a small laugh. "Illidan!" she called, having to raise her voice for it to reach the cave. "Good morning!" For a moment she pushed the funny feelings away. If only she had experienced these feelings the first two times she had become a parent, she might have known what they were. Despite her age there were things even she hadn't completely experienced.
Tucking her wings down more against her back, she started back towards the mouth of the cave.
