One should never play with their food. At least that is the general idea among many; however, Naveen thoroughly enjoyed playing with her food. The wild dog was playing a game with the hare she had caught, much like that of a young pup. The creature was already tired so it really couldn’t go very far before she would chase it down, pouncing on it. She really wasn’t hungry right now so she was honestly going to just let it go in the end. The small critter seemed to have picked up on the whole situation and didn’t seem as frightened as it had been when it had first been trapped by the she-dog. Whenever Naveen let it up it would try something different, as if it were trying to appease to the predator that it was willing to cooperate and perhaps seal the fate it would live another day. Naveen had already decided she wasn’t going to kill it so she much liked the fact the Hare was willing to go along with her practicing her hunting. The Hare zig zagged in a sharp manner and put Naveen on her toes as to which way it might just go. She caught it one last time by the scruff and covered it with her paws and then pounced up and sat back and stared at the critter waiting for it to take its leave. The Hare, seeing the cue seemed hesitant and then took off with what strength it had left disappearing into some brush nearby. Naveen flicked her violet gaze towards the east and her ears twitched slightly. She thought she had heard something.

Looking around with emerald eyes, Xarmag was simply padding along today, with a quiet smile on his maw. There wasn’t anything particularly good about today, but there wasn’t anything bad, either, and he thought that that alone was something to smile about. Though he hadn’t been on his own for all that long, he still really enjoyed each day that went well. Starting off, he wasn’t really the most street-smart of young males; well, not the smartest in general. It really made for a bumpy ride up til now, so he was always glad when life was normal and going well. Sure, it was a little lonely, but wasn’t that just the course his life was supposed to run? He knew that since he had just recently moved out on his own, there was little chance that he was going to already have good friends, or have met very many others out here. Though, he did always hope.
Padding along gently, he was at a loss as to what he should be doing right now, thought. He didn’t feel like hunting, as he had already eaten quite recently, and his imagination was failing him quite severely. Lowering his chest to the ground, he stretched his paws out before him, giving out a small groan as he yawned. For a moment, his ears perked up as a small creature darted before him, coming from just on the other side of some bushes nearby.

The wind shifted and she caught the scent of the male that was unseen to her in the direction to which the Hare had taken off. She was at a crossroads in her mind right now. She wasn't sure exactly what to do. She wasn't the best at judging characters and had a very lacking social life so her communication with anyone other than herself was extremely poor. Should she go investigate? She wasn't sure. She had no idea who could be on the other side of the brush or if they were friendly or mean. Should she put up a front? Try and act rough and tough? She really wanted someone to talk to since she had been on her own for as long as she could remember, but the fact that she didn't have a clue about talking someone, let alone someone of the opposite sex she was at a loss as to what to do. She tried to stick her head up as high as it would go to see if she could peek over the brush, but it was to no avail. It seemed to be she was going to have to check it out. Cautiously she slinked into the brush and peeked her head out of them to see the ivory and gold colored male not too far from her muzzle. She jerked her head back quickly and almost fell backwards at the shock of him being so close to the bushes. She knew he HAD to of seen her amazing display of gracefulness. Wasn't this just embarassing, and now she was at a lack of anything to say. 'Way to go Navi, way to go..'

Staring blankly in front of him for a few moments, trying to process what had just happened. Generally, when something was running that fast away from a particular direction, it meant that there was something larger chasing it. Which meant, most likely, that there was something after it on the other side of those bushes. Great. That wasn't exactly what Xarmag had been hoping for in terms of encounters today; oh no, a run-in with another predator that could very well be much bigger than him and looking for a meal didn't sound all that appealing right then.
Though, it didn't really seem like anything was actively chasing it. Or, whatever it was was just extremely slow. OR, it was something smaller than him, and it was cowering in the brush. With that though, he let out a small snicker, his confidence now boosted a bit. Flicking his ears up, he took a few cautious steps toward the brush, definitely hoping that whatever was on the other side was something friendly. And small. And not menacing.
Right as his muzzle was about to nudge at the small branches, he took a quick step back, as something poked out from the other side. Shaking his head in surprise, he couldn't help but giggle a bit at her almost-tumble.

She flattened her ears against her skull for a moment in her embarassment and heard him chuckle, which made her relax slightly. Looking at the ground for a brief moment she wondered what she might say. "Wasn't expecting you to be quite that close." Her voice was smooth and soft and seemed foreign to her. When was the last time she had heard herself speak? She pushed her way through the brush, keeping a bit of a distance between them. He seemed harmless enough at the time, but she still couldn't be too careful. 'I wonder where he came from.. He doesn't look ragged or anything. Maybe he came from a pack somewhere, or is part of a pack.' Being a rouge and never having anyone made her wary of just about everyone, even if she did in fact want some sort of company now and again. It was quite nice to see another living creature that wasn't going to try to eat her, or wasn't food. She realized then, that she had been staring and flicked her gaze elsewhere and cleared her throat. "I'm Naveen...." She paued breifly before continueing, wondering exactly what she might say, "You been in this area long?" So far so good it seemed and she sat down curling her tail around her forepaws turning her gaze back to him.

Eyeing her for a moment, Xarmag was glad that she didn't seem to be anything close to menacing. And, another plus, she was like him. Nothing against felines or anything, but sometimes they could really get an attitude towards canines.

"Well, I guess we were both a little surprised. Great minds think alike though, hm?" Tilting his head slightly, he smiled at the darker female. Taking another step back, he could see that she was being cautious of him. He wasn't really used to such treatment; generally, he was always the one that needed to be cautious of others. It was usually because he was lankier than most males his age, and he had been told that his face didn't really give off that vibe at all.

"Naveen? That names sounds as unique as mine. Though, yours is far prettier." Laughing a little, he really meant the part about her name being pretty. His was so rough on the tongue, a tradition passed down from before his family migrated to this region.

"My name is Xarmag." Nodding briefly, he decided to join her in sitting, creating a small dust cloud as he plopped himself down. "And I guess I haven't been here all that long. I'm kind of just wandering around." Staring intently at the ground for a few moments, he glanced back up at the female, grinning goofily at the fact that that's all he could really do to sum up the past few months. "Are you, though?"

your cub in the siggy is cute!! <3

She chuckled as he stated that he had been a bit surprised himself, he hadn't seemed it, at least not the way she had been. It made her loosen up a little bit, but not by much. "I guess you could say that." She grinned a tad and looked at him when he spoke her name, which was something new to her. She couldn't honestly remember the last time anyone had said her name, which is sad, to say the least. She let out a huff and shook her head slightly with a smile. "Xarmag hmm? It is unique and I would have to agree. Not as 'pretty' as my name, but it seems mysterious and rugged almost. It suits you." She notted the rough accent and it just seemed fitting enough to her that his name was as such. "Not that I'm saying you look rugged or anything like that, it's just your accent." She didn't want him to think she had tried to insult him.

If she could have flushed, she probably would have. She flicked her tail across her paws and stared at the ground for a moment. "Wandering? Well I guess you could call it that. I'm not even exactly sure what I'm doing. I guess I'm searching really." Was that what she was doing? She really had no idea. She looked at him and wondered where he had come from if he hadn't been in the area long. She figured it was too soon to ask him anything like that. "There really isn't much to see out here." She looked around and then back to him with a half smile. She felt a little awkward, but she knew that it would fade eventually as the progressed in conversation. His eyes were bright for their color and they seemed so calm it helped to soothe her nerves a bit.

"You a nomad? You said you hadn't been out here long.." It was a thought that had crossed her mind since he said he hadn't been here long. Either that or maybe he was part of a pack and was just out scouting.

(( Ah, thanks~ <3 ))

"Oh? You flatter me, miss." Chuckling a little, he had never really thought about the flip side of his name; he had always been fairly caught up in the fact that it wasn't smooth, something that would warm others just by saying it. Somehow, it even sounded a bit spiteful when some said it. "Oh, it's alright. I wouldn't dare claim to be the 'rugged' type. I'm afraid that I'm a bit too thin and lanky for that." Holding out his front leg for a moment, he stared at it blankly, not really sure if it was a good thing that he was this thin, or if it was something that was probably detrimental.

"Searching? I don't suppose you have something special you're looking for, hm?" Twisting his head to the side, he leaned forward a bit, using his back paw to scratch behind his ear. His eyes were glued to her, and he raised a brow when asking. "....not that you have to tell a stranger like me." Shaking his head, his ears flopped back and forth.

"Yeah, I'm out here by myself." His eyes flicked to the side, wondering if it was too much information for him to reveal, especially since he wasn't the best fighter out there. "And the scenery is pretty dull."

She sized him up and looked at herself breifly, he wasn't that lanky or thin. He wasn't much bigger than her build wise, he wasn't buff or anything, but he wasn't twig skinny. She chuckled and she watched as he lifted his leg as if to say 'See! Look how fraile I am.' Which he didn't seem at all. He seemed solid, a bit on the lithe side, but size wasn't always what mattered. "I don't think being a big burley brute would suite you." She smiled as she spoke. Being lithe had it's advantages, speed and smooth movements came with that build, whereas being big and bulky had strength but not much else. "You truly aren't that thin." She said warmly trying to get him to see the pros to their size.

She pondered for a moment. What was she looking for? She really didn't know. As she thought of what she would say she listened as he continued on. She he was out here by himself as well. At least she wasn't the only one. Made her feel a bit more at ease. "Well you're hardly a stranger now that we have introduced ourselves." She said with a small smile. "I've been searching for others I suppose. Corpses aren't much fun to talk to, and other species tend to be a bit indifferent at times." She looked about the area, it was rather barren and dull. She looked about wondering if there was anywhere there was shade. It was starting to get a bit warmer out as it became closer to noon. "Would you care to walk with me and find some shade?' He probably wasn't going to feel the heat as much as she, being far lighter, but one never really knew.

"Haha!" Rocking back on his haunches, Xarmag couldn't even imagine if he was all muscular and big. It seemed like a hysterical sight; his personality wasn't really the type to match that physique at all. He was a little glad that she didn't consider him too thin, since it would seem pretty pathetic if a female regarded him as being too thin.

"Well, that's a good thing to look for." Smiling at her, he kind of had the same agenda. Being alone was no fun, and he was quite tired of the dull conversations he'd have with himself. There was really only so much you could say to yourself, and the subject matter tended to circle around and around.

"I don't think I could turn down an offer from someone who's no longer a stranger to me." Grinning for a moment, he wasn't really needing shade, but the offer was appealing, nonetheless. It would definitely break up his dull and monotonous days, and he quite enjoyed her company.

She was quite thrilled that he decided to venture forth with her to find some shade, the question at hand now was which way to go? She turned her gaze to the east and the landscape seemed to go on for miles so she turned west and saw what looked to be a dark outline of a possible rock face a kilometer or so away. "Let's go that way!" She figured they'd go west but he may have a better idea and it was always best to get another opinion. She sat back upon her hind quarters and scratched a spot on her left side before standing up and shaking a light layer of sand dust from her coat. She glanced back at the male and wondered if he'd be willing to allow her to stay in his company for a while, she could always ask that at a later time though. If anything at least she had for now with the friendly male and she gave him a smile and started out in that direction and hopefully with him not to far behind.
