The English Thread I'm really sorry. I thought I needed a thread where I could only speak english. I'm not so very good at german...yet. Trying to learn. Well, after I while I get a headache after trying to understand everything and trying to write as correct as I manage. I hope this topic is OK. By the way, does anybody have a german - english dictionary/lexicon link? I could need one. A swedish-german wouldn't be so wrong either. xd

I've been to German twice. It's one thing I can't stand. The TV, everything is dubbed. Well except for MTV. I got crazy when I was there last spring.
I had been one or two days in Germany trying to understand what everybody is talking about. Then I found a TV and thougt, whee finally something I can understand. Turns it on, and it's on german. It was terrible, then funny, then terrible again. xd
I saw Alle lieben Raymond and C.S.I.
What do you think about dubbed TV in Germany? Do you like, don't you watch tv, or don't you like it, maybe yoyu download everything instead. Tell me.

Hi chibi-chan.
I think your thread is all right, as long as you're willing to learn more German (becaus if you don't want to speak German here at all it's rather sensles to join a German Gulid) I'm telling you this, because we already had people like this here.
And maybe you should konw that you Are allowed to speak english in this Guild if you really can't avoid it (but of course german is prefered)
...it's a pity that I've no idea what DUBBED Tv means, sorry.

hi there well, gaia is a english site, but since not everyone is very good with english, someonme (joyinfree) decided to make a guild for germans and those who speak german. thats why the title says "gaia in german". making a thread for english people inside that guild is like running in circles, don't you think? someone here already made a topic for english-german/german-english related questions and stuff, it must be hidden somewhere in between... anyway, i do know two good translation sites wich are both free aswell. www.dicdata.de you can translate like 10 or 15 vocabularies a day there for free. http://dict.leo.orgthis site's way better, it's all free, you can translate words the whole day without any limit, this site also has links to little sound files for each words in german aswell as in english to listen to, so you know how to pronounce each word. to joy: mit "dubbed tv" meint die einfach nur deutsches fernsehen, in schweden und holland undso sind alle filme und serien auch in englisch, haben aber schwedische untertitel. nur so sachen wie nachrichten oder serien fuer kleinkinder sind auch in schwedisch gesprochen.

Apple Tea to joy: mit "dubbed tv" meint die einfach nur deutsches fernsehen, in schweden und holland undso sind alle filme und serien auch in englisch, haben aber schwedische untertitel. nur so sachen wie nachrichten oder serien fuer kleinkinder sind auch in schwedisch gesprochen. Ach was, echt? Habe ich noch nie etwas von gehoert. Die Armen. Also ich meine ja, wenn ich mal fernsehen will, dann will ich nicht lesen. Aber naja, fuers Hirn ist das natuerlich weitaus weniger schaedigend nehme ich mal an.

in holland weiss ich nicht, aber grade in schweden liest die untertitel eh niemand (bis auf ganz alte leute oder kleine kinder), die koennen da alle fliessend (um nicht zu sagen perfekt) englisch.
find das eigentlich auch gut so dass das fernsehen da englisch ist, so lernen die leute dort englisch, praktisch nebenbei im alltag.
warum die englisches fernsehen haben weiss ich nicht, am mangelnden geld kann es nicht liegen, denen geht's wirtschafftlich besser als uns, liegt wohl eher an der mangelnden nachfrage, die leute haben sich wohl halt daran gewoehnt und wollen auch nicht unbedingt schwedisches fernsehen.

Jedenfalls ist es aus vielerlei hinsicht von Vorteil. Entweder man lehrnt viel schneller perfektes Englisch, oder man muss wenigstens lesen, als sich nur berieseln zu lassen. Eigentlich sollten wir das auch einfuehren, aber... ich kucke ja echt nicht oft TV und wenn die mich dann noch mit Untertiteln nerven wuerden...nein, besser nicht. Ich meine, gut, das waere was anderes, wenn es einfach schon immer so gewesen, waere. Allerdings, wenn ich einen eglischsprachigen Film sehe bin ich recht dankbar fuer Untetitel, weil ich das oft sowas von genuschelt finde, dass ich dem so nicht immer folgen kann.

I'm sorry, I just thought that some people who wern't from a german-speaking country would want a break once in a while.
I will try to speak in german - I'm hoping it will give me better grades in german in school.
Ich spricht nicht deutsch so gut. Aber ich will versuchen.

I think everyone here is willing to help you and will answer every single question you have about german.. ^^
just try to write in german, we will answer in english and/or german, and correct your sentences if you wish.. x3
I personally hate dubbed things.. rather prefer subbed.. thats why I love danmark and DLs.. sweatdrop sweatdrop
plus, as soon as they dub something, they also cut it.. you said you watch CSI.. did you notice they cut about 5mins away?
