I think we all have at least one character that stuck out to us as particularly enjoyable to play. Whether it was a result of careful planning, random chance, the setting, a particular circumstance, or any other reason, that character stands out from the rest.
If this has happened for you, what character was it that you would consider your favorite to play, and why is that?
Discuss! xd
Mine would have to be Ted Banner, who I've used occasionally in post-apocalyptic settings. Ted is basically the terrified office worker that tends to want to run away from every bad situation until he's got his back against a wall. Once he's cornered, he can turn a little psychotic and takes a while to get back to his normal self.
I think I like playing him so much because it tends to throw people off in situations where everyone else is ready to make some kind of last stand and he just takes off running the other direction. Besides that, I like describing the transformation into survival mode that intense trauma can cause. It's always a heavy balance of fight-or-flight with him.

I don't have a particular character I love to role play as, since I try to not use a character more than once. I feel that if I use the same character, they are out of place. All of the characters I make, I make specifically for a certain role play, depending on the story and the other type of characters there are.
Even so, there is one thing that I do keep the same in all characters. That is my own personality. I mostly play as girls (although I've played as guys around 4 or 5 times) most of the times, these girls tend to be stubborn and fighters, as well as keen (Short tempered as well). Since I've joined mostly fantasy or some sort of supernatural role play, I always like to have my characters be fast. When playing slice of life, I tend to make them the lone wolf, sort of type, with a few exceptions where I've played a ditzy sort of character, I find it fun to have change of pace 3nodding
The thing is, that because I tend to have my characters be like me. I have a hard time trying to have some other sort of personality, unless I try really hard or pretend to be someone else (In other words use an alternate account)

I usually create a new character for every role-play. Ted Banner is just my little exception. wink I used to have the same problem with my characters. It can be really difficult (or perhaps impossible) not to imprint at least some small part of your own psyche on a character. I found that when I began to think more of my writing as telling a larger story, rather than just a series of written reactions to other characters, I was able to find new and interesting ways to develop characters that react very differently to my innate way. It was definitely fun to try a character that was completely different from those I'd done in the past. surprised

Only playing as a guy am I completely different, but I have hard time playing a guy since I feel really weird flirting with girls >,<;..

You might have some luck by trying to play villains. It's probably easier to do since you only need to take the baseline you're used to and remove traits, as opposed to changing them or adding more. You can remove any number of things such as morality, empathy, conscience, manors, and even some of the more positive emotions to create someone fairly evil. It might be a valuable learning experience. ninja

Playing evil character is fun, I'm not particularly cruel though, just usually a servant of a higher up that causes trouble, except for this one vampire girl I played once, but the role played died before I could develop her character properly. I do somehow always end up making my characters feel guilty though. The people I have role played with make me feel bad and since I have a conscience I can't keep on being evil..>.<;..

For me, I usually tend to make new characters, but I suppose there's a few I've used more than the others, and that would be the Christian Family (Yeah, more than one person)
It started first with Raine in a Kingdom Hearts roleplay I was in, and then I ended up making his time-displaced grandson Dante and his evil twin Soren and then their thousand year down the line descendent Jenos. Though Dante is the one I've used the most, since it's very easy to work him into a story and take him out of it. (Random Time Displacement)
And usually all the people I make are the good guys, but I have been known to produce spectacular villains on more than one occasion. (My sister has noticed this as well. >.<; )

Without you running around, robbing banks, firing death rays, or kicking the sweetest most adorable puppy the world has ever seen, the heroes would have nothing to justify their existence. So when you kick that puppy, even if you feel bad about it, you need to laugh and kick it some more, or society as we know it might crumble. Or something like that. twisted

Even evil doers have a soft side! I've me a girl that played a guy part, and she would rape girls...it wasn't a pornographic guild or anything, it just simply fitted the story, it kind of scared me. Now I realize, she was good at role playing.

You wouldn't expect me to spend weeks befriending you and gaining your trust just to obtain a small bit of information, then casually end your life. But my character certainly would, they'd be satisfied with a job well done, and the story would be better off for it. twisted Is any of this helping? I'm very tired and just sort of rambling at this point. rofl

Recently I have created this character that is basically B**** pardon my french, and a spoiled brat, I kept apologizing on the OOC chat, and was glad to see that everyone didn't mind and knew it was part of the character. So now thank to you, I feel better as playing someone that is different than me :> don't worry I tend to ramble myself sweatdrop if you're so tired, you should rest o.o..also STILL NOT KICKING THE PUPPIES!...or KITTIES! I usually play good characters too, though that's mainly because I don't really do RPs where you're supposed to fight each other. I prefer to have NPCs as villains. surprised Not cool, man. Not cool. surprised Sorry, I don't speak French. sad Yeah, most people should be able to roll with whatever heinous acts your character can dish out. I don't think any experienced role-player is going to infer anything bad about you just by the way your character acts.

Kidnap some loved ones, alienate someone from their companions, set bombs, and many other such things. Plus you can always have all the npc minions you need to do any kind of physical fighting. 3nodding
