Rory walked into the rec room with his hands in his pockets. He was still trying to familiarize himself with the layout of the building and the people he worked with. He had finished his training with Pinkie for the day and figured what better way to relax for a while than with a bit of video games. He looked around and saw some of the consoles already taken and wondered if there were any left for him or anyone who wouldn't mind an extra player.

It seemed like a visit to the recreation room had become a regular part of Isadora's schedule, and it was her current backdrop even today. She happily made her way down to the familiar rec room but was surprised to find when she opened the door that there was already someone there. She paused for half of a moment, then shrugged and continued in. She did not recognize the young man there, but that didn't bother her too much. Never a bad time to meet a new person.
When Isadora saw that the other person was sitting at the video game couch, she decided she might as well join him. He might even need another player. Smiling, she sat down beside him on the couch, picking up one of the spare controllers on the ground. "Do you need an extra player?"

Rory had been examining the game selection when he heard someone behind him. He looked back to see who spoke and caught sight of the woman standing by the couch. He shrugged.
"Sure. Want to play Super Smash Bros?" he asked as he held out the game case.

"That sounds wonderful, thanks!" Isadora readjusted her glasses and gladly took a seat. "Personally, I'm more inclined to play Guitar Hero, but I really don't mind Smash Bros. Good for a change of pace." She turned the console on and sat back on the couch.
She glanced over to the other person, pausing for a moment. "You know, I don't believe I have seen you around before. Are you new here?" Was he a new recruit, she wondered. He seemed a little young, but she wasn't really one to judge. She supposed that, to some, she might be a little old. That was positively ridiculous, though. "My name's Isadora," she offered. "What's yours?"

"I haven't had the chance to play Guitar Hero yet, maybe next time." Rory responded as the loading screen appeared.
He looked over his companion. She seemed a little old to be interested in video games, he thought. She seemed to hold herself together more than most of the people he had seen running around the building. But what was he to know? "You'd be right. I'm Rory." He held his hand out for her to shake.

The television screen came to life with the colors and sounds of the video game loading screen. Isadora's fingers twitched on her controller as she anxiously waited for the battle to start. Once she had picked her playing character, she turned back to her new companion. She chuckled softly as he held out his hand to her, and she took it happily. "Rory, is it? Very well. A pleasure to meet you."
In the back of her mind, Isadora wondered who exactly Rory was - or what rank he was, at the very least. She had never seen him before, but that might just have been because she didn't get out that much. She hadn't exactly befriended a wide range of people during her time here. Then again, he might just be a Grunt like her, or even a Trainee. It always was exciting for Team Rocket to gain a new member.
"So, have you played many video games before," Isadora asked as she waited for Rory to choose his player. "Before you came here, I mean."

Rory settled into his seat. He figured she might be one of the higher ups but he didn't get the same uneasy feeling like he did when he ran into the agents in the hallways. It was hard to tell what rank everyone was when they were not in uniform though.
Rory thought back to his time before he came to HQ. "Mostly handhelds. I didn't get too many opportunities to play console games like this before." he said scrolling through the character options to see who he wanted to play as.

"Just handhelds? That's cool, I guess. I've played a few handheld consoles before." Isadora sighed lightly and crossed her legs as she waited for Rory to pick his character. "I'm much more partial to larger consoles, personally. They hold a lot more memory, and they can play a wider variety of games. Both have their pluses, though," she said, smiling a little.
"There are also a lot more video games here than you'd think," she remarked , half thinking out loud to herself. "Weird, isn't it? I mean, you wouldn't think that a place such at this would have people just lounging around and playing games together. It'd be an odd thing to picture for, well... anyone else." Isadora shrugged her shoulders slightly. She wasn't really meaning to ramble to this person who she had only just met, but if he didn't mind, all the better.

Rory finally decided on Kirby and changed the character's color to blue. "It's hard to travel with large consoles though; they're heavy. Handhelds fit right in your pocket." He remembered the feel of the old GamBoy inside of his pocket as he journeyed around his home region. He wished he hadn't lost it.
He chuckled at her comment about the place. "It is weird." he responded. "I used to walk past the HQ building in Kanto a lot. If I'd have known they had all of this," he gestured to everything around them in the room, "I may have considered joining sooner."

Isadora, having already picked her character as Samus, set the fighting stage to 'Random' and sat forward, waiting for the stage to load. "Well, yes, I will agree with that. That's the whole idea of a handheld system, I would think. But at the same time, it's a lot harder to lose a bigger console than it is with a handheld, right?"
She looked over to Rory with curiosity in her eyes. "Oh, you used to live in Kanto? How neat! I'm from Hoenn, myself." As he mentioned joining Team Rocket, Isadora looked away for a moment, then turned her attention back to the television screen. "...So, why did you join now? If you don't mind my asking, that is?'

Rory glanced at Isadora out of the corner of his eye. Her comment about it being harder to lose a bigger console hit him. He sighed slightly, sinking down in his seat. "You've got a point." he muttered trying to focus all of his attention to the screen.
Hoenn? He'd heard of that region before. He was supposed to go to that region. Why was this creeping up now?
When she asked why he joined, he froze. The year spent trying to heal Pinkie to be able to even stand, let alone walk. Watching the news reports as they put their spin on what happened. Trying to come back to the contests and watching as her leg gave out. The fallout from then on until he ran into a lone grunt late one night in Saffron and inquired about the organization.
Outwardly he shrugged. "It seemed like a good idea at the time."

The battle finally begun, and the only noise from Isadora for a short while was only the pressing of buttons and the movement of the joystick. She was so focused on the game and the movement of the characters and objects onscreen that she almost missed hearing Rory's reply to her query about his joining Team Rocket. She blinked at his reply, but then she just gave a small smile and chuckled.
"Yeah... I guess that might be the same for a lot of people here. It sort of is the same thing for me, in fact." Isadora shifted slightly in her seat to readjust while still watching the game on the television. "Well, then again, it's not like my reason for joining is particularly typical. I'm a psychologist, y'see; I'm more about helping people than stealing Pokemon or anything of that sort. I only really joined because I figured that the people who would need the most help would be those in the midst of an organization such as this."
Having heard her own reason said out loud, Isadora pondered on it for a moment. An awkward chuckle burst from her. "Heh, I suppose it might be a bit of a silly reason, but hey - I don't regret it. It's not like I can change my mind about it, anyway." At that thought, the doctor grimaced. That sort of commitment was... daunting, to say the least. Best not to think about such things, she mused. Just have to play the game.

His body froze. In the back of his mind, he heard the sound of his Kirby character being blasted off the screen. Of course! Of course she was a psychologist! It was just his luck that he would, inadvertently, meet the team shrink.
He fought to put the mental barrier back up; there was no way he would spill his guts now. Although it didn't look like she had a clipboard or anything on her, it didn't mean she wouldn't go back to her office and write everything down.
When she mentioned her reason for joining the team, Rory felt bad. Here she was telling him this information and what was he doing? Trying to close himself off. He cleared his throat and turned his attention back to the game.
"I don't think it's silly," he said softly, "We all probably wouldn't be here if we weren't messed up somewhere inside."

A smug smile formed on the doctor's face as she sent Rory's character flying off-screen. Her body leaned forward closer to the screen as she became more focused on the brawl, completely unaware of her companion's current internal dilemma. Besides, it wasn't like she was on-duty or anything. Playing - and winning - at these games were of far more importance than psychoanalyzing any random acquaintance. Sure, she'd done it before, but not when a video game was in front of her.
Isadora sat back again when Rory spoke again, and she was silent as she contemplated his words. She gave a small, joking laugh. "Oh, so you're saying I'm messed up, then? Or are you saying that about yourself?" She smirked playfully and glanced quickly over to Rory before turning her eyes back to the screen. "I'm just kidding. I can kind of understand what you're saying. I mean, there must be something that can drive a person to have the gumption to join an organization like this, if not just madness." Isadora sighed lightly. "It's rather fascinating, honestly," she added in a smaller voice than before.

His eyes widened at her question; he hadn't meant to offend her. When he heard her laugh, he relaxed. He kicked his shoes off and pulled him feet underneath him to get a little more comfortable. He turned his attention back to the game and avenging his lost Kirby life.
"Hey, you force yourself to listen to others problems. You got to be slightly crazy to do that," he grinned at her, hoping she understood he was joking. "At least it's something to do when there's nothing else. I have to admit I'd never thought I'd actually enjoy working in a lab before."
