There had been no real external influence in the past day or so, and so Taryn had spent it thinking. Scarentine's was coming up, and there was this odd kind of warmth in her belly and a hope for better things. She was on the grounds now, twirling a long bit of grass in her finger and watching... nothing. Students walking by, the wind blowing the foliage, the clouds in the sky. She was feeling rather peaceful right now, sitting with her legs to the side. Abigail sat coiled beside her thigh, apparently napping.

He'd gotten back to school, he'd gone STRAIGHT to the shower, then crashed for the rest of the day and night. It had been a jackin' ROUGH week, Roch thought as he headed across campus. Now he needed to find some people and talk to them and--
He stopped at the sight of Taryn, wondering what in the HELL was going on with his heart at the moment. It seemed to be pounding, but that was... y'know... NOT what he was wanting right now.
"Hey," he said, starting forward again, "Taryn!"

Taryn's head snapped up and a grin flickered over her face. Roch! He was back! She stood as quickly as she could, Abigail stirring and being flung, and rushed o the boil. She flung her arms around him, feeling a rather nice rush, and then pulled back to look over his face.
"Where've you been?!" she asked, shaking her head slightly. She looped Abigail over her arm without really thinking, and the snake began to drift off again.

He hesitated, a strange expression on his face that turned to a -__- expression at her question. "Hugs first," he said, taking another hug from her. "Jack is it good to see a pretty face," he said with a happy sigh. "One that DOESN'T belong to a boil," he added dryly before dropping down onto the ground and motioning for her to sit.
"I got kidnapped," he said matter-of-factly. "By my granddad's old pal. STILL not quite sure why," he admitted with a frown. "But it wasn't that bad, really, I still think the haunted house field trip was a hell of a lot worse."

"Kidnapped!"
Unfortunately, life at Amityville had somewhat destroyed Taryn's image of a 'bad day'. Kidnapping was bad, yes, but if Roch said it wasn't as bad as the haunted house, nothing all that terrible possibly could have happened. He was alive, at least.
"Oh, Roch, you would. Poor thing," the ghoul responded, shaking her head. Only then did the 'pretty face' comment strike her, and she felt her cheeks growing hot. Pretty? How sweet...
"I'm glad you're back..."

"So am I, seriously," Roch said, giving her a grin. He reached out, summoning his guitar and pulling the strap over his shoulder--wait, what was he doing? Jackdammit--
His fingers were doing it all, he told himself. "It's a pretty day, huh?" he asked as he absently tuned his guitar. What was the guitar for? Why did he need the guitar? Jack, his fingers were starting to play-- "Oh! I worked on your song some more, I think I got it right this time."

Taryn did give Roch a bit of a look as he pulled out his guitar, but by the time he began tuning she'd decided that it was just a thing he did. Who was she to stop him? Maybe he wanted to play in celebration of getting back to Amityville!
Wait a second...
"My song...?" It had been Christmastival the last time she had heard about 'her song', and she'd more or less completely forgotten.

"Yeah," Roch said, looking at her. "You forget it already?" he teased. "Maybe I need to pick something more memorable? You know, cuz it is a bit obscure--"

"Oh, no! Of course I remember it," Taryn smiled, cheeks dark. How could she ever forget?! She clasped her hands by her belly and shifted her weight. "Oh, um... there's a bench right over there, if you would rather..."

"Nah, that requires moving," he said lazily, which seemed a bit strange for the usually energetic punk boil. He MUST have had a tough week. His fingers started coaxing Rubina from his guitar, letting the music dance on the air, the haunting melody. Something was off, he thought, a tiny frown of concentration on his face. Not his playing--his playing was fine. Something about HIM was off. He wasn't sure he liked it, either. This was dangerous.

Oh, well that was a little odd. Poor Roch. Taryn just stood there, watching Roch's fingers dance over the strings apparently easily. She had been listening to quite a bit more music lately, and she felt the odd swelling and tightness she got when a song particularly struck her. She heaved a sigh, smile and blush both bright.
Oh, Roch.

Don't look at herrrr, you got Calder lookin' for a ghoul for you, remember man? Roch looked down instead, watching his fingers play over the strings as he tried to come up with something to talk about...
He finished the song before his mind and his mouth made a connection. "Did you miss me?"

Taryn was perfectly content to listen to the whole song, and her eyes came up only when Roch spoke. She shook her head, almost disbelieving.
"Hm? Oh, of course! Of course I did. Amrita and I went looking for you, I was worried..."

"Yeah? I need to go talk to Amrita soon, too," he said, frowning at the thought of two of his pals worrying--and going possibly dangerous places looking for him. "Taryn, I want you to promise me something," he said abruptly, looking her in the eyes. "It might go against your grain, but promise me you'll do it, okay?"

Uh-oh. Taryn's heart fell. She was suddenly worried all over again.
"A...alright. What can I do?"
Abigail raised her head lethargically to look at Roch.
