She was new to the town, or rather new to the area entirely, so Ana had decided that, being a naturally curious person who just happened to enjoy exploring, she needed to get out and pace around the different locations. She'd be staying here from now on, or so she assumed with her parent's recent transfer and her enrollment into the academy, so there was no reason for her to be a shirking violet and stay hidden away inside. There was also no need for her to only go out when the sun was up, as she was no flower needing the light to keep her going. Ana actually preferred the evening, what with the cooler temperatures and the lack of crowds to interrupt her and her adventures.
She'd found a bookstore at one spot, then an ice cream parlor (which was full of delightful new flavors for her to experiment with), and she was quickly making her way towards what she hoped to be a residential park. If it happened to have a play place there, with swings, her evening would have been made all the sweeter for it. Swings allowed her the feeling of flight, not to mention she hadn't been on a swing in years. One was never too old for them though, or so she felt, and thus she crossed a street and headed towards what appeared to be a wooded area.

So many people found their way to the park each day. It was actually a bit scarier to think that the senshi tended to use this place as a sort of meeting ground. Fortunately, there weren't too many people about at the moment, leaving a certain Manx the time to linger towards the edges of the wooded area.
Unfortunately, as she made her way to that portion of the park, a sense of unease came over the feline. There was definitely a youma hiding in the area. Not an overly strong one, but if there were people about, there was no doubt they'd lose their energy or worse. Rather than continue at her slow meandering pace, the guardian took to trotting, which caused the bell on her collar to jingle-jangle the whole way.
********* was noisy, it was something she had learned long ago. This cat would never be a ninja.

There wasn't a playground yet, not just yet, but that didn't really deter Ana from her goal of locating one. Once she'd gotten into her head that she was going to swing, she was going to swing and even the strange stillness of the setting sun and night air could do nothing about it. Her joy at exploring outweighed the prickles of unease that dotted the back of her neck, allowing her to explore even though she kept feeling goosebumps erupt here and there on her expose skin. It had to have been the sudden temperature with the sun setting, she told herself, and nothing more.
Eventually she paused near what looked to be a fountain, the lack of animal life sounds in the evening time causing her somewhat delayed sense of caution to show itself. Ana wasn't afraid, not just yet, but perhaps it would have been wise for her to turn around and head home? There were no night birds crying, no music from crickets or other bugs to fill the air with their lullabies. All she could hear was her own footsteps as she started walking again and the faint pounding of her heart in her ears.
"Be brave, Ana. There is nothing out here that can hurt you right now, nothing at all." Talking to herself seemed to set some of her nerves at ease, but how much more? Maybe she should at least get to a better lit place, and she was about to do so when the sound of something jingling made her freeze in her tracks. From no sound to sudden sound, she wasn't sure what she liked best?

One other creature had managed to hear the sound of the bell as it jingled along through the cluster of trees. It clacked its beak open and shut, debating whether or not that sound would be a potential hazard to its current efforts. After a brief pause, it decided to continue after the girl, or rather, her starseed. In that nearly perfect manner, it crept along silently, stepping so lightly its scaley clawed feet didn't leave any imprint in the ground.
The uneasy feeling grew stronger as she got closer to the source of darkness she could sense, and it only multiplied when she realized there was a person in the area too. One who had a starseed that briefly informed the cat she was a senshi, and that she had not been awakened yet.
Her own path had yet to really encounter the potential senshi's, but in a clear voice, she offered a helpful suggestion. "...you know, I would suggest you probably get out of this area covered in trees... pretty fast. There's something bad in here that might get you..."
A certain youma's feathers just got ruffled as it was called out so easily.

Ana froze, which was the complete opposite of what the voice had told her to do, and the young teen looked around the area with wide brown eyes. She bit her lower lip as she quickly turned to glance around, hoping to figure out just what had called out to her. She'd heard a voice, a female voice at that, but just where did it come from? There were no people here, nothing of that sort, and Ana clasped her hands together as she looked about again.
Something was telling her to move. The strange voice had told her that too, but that was something inside that was telling her if she stayed in one place it was going to be very dangerous. There was a strong chance something horrible was going to happen to her and, even with her desire to face the unknown, Ana was not ready just yet to have herself be injured in a horrible way. She was in the middle of nowhere in a city she didn't know, and the sudden surge of her RUN RUN RUN nerves sent her moving.
It didn't take her a second thought to turn and start fleeing back towards the street, though her wanderings had sent her down a path littered with few lights. Which was the way back to the street?!

Tsk tsk tsk! Why was the meal now trying to escape? It made the youma's toes curl slightly and it clacked its beak open and shut one more time.
Instead of remaining hidden, the bizarre creature stepped out into the path of the girl's attempted route of escape. It looked like an overly large crow with a long beak and scaly bird-like feet. However, rather than having merely two feet, it had two hands similar to its feet along with the wings upon its back. The odd thing about this creature was how thin it was, with its ribs sticking out rather noticeably.
"...starseeeeed..." it called out in a low hiss of a whisper as it clacked its beak open and shut once more.
The feline also had just managed to catch sight of a head of blonde hair nearby. Despite being so round, she was able to kick herself into gear if she needed to. Rather than remain trotting, she started to dash towards this girl.
"No, not that way! Turn around, follow me... er... follow the cat!"
Quite quickly, the cat paused long enough to do a graceless backflip. Something fell to the floor and soon enough she had scooped it up between her teeth. Her green eyes glanced to the girl, making certain she could see her before she started to run again, leading the way on how to get out of the seeming maze of trees.

" !!!!! Chyort voz'mi!!! " It wasn't like her to curse in Russian, it wasn't like her at all, but seeing as the sudden appearance of something she couldn't explain, plus a talking cat, had come into the light she felt like there wasn't a need for her to remain so prim and proper anymore. The cat was commanding something of her, telling her to run and follow it, while the crow creature was wanting a star...something? What was a starseed?!
She really didn't need to stop and think or ask, this was a bad bad, very bad bad situation, and she turned on her heels with a quick nod and went after the cat as fast as she could. Being a gymnast allowed her some energy and stamina, her body used to having to exert itself, but she wasn't built for too much endurance. Her quick pace was burning her out a lot faster than she could produce adrenaline for and soon she was wheezing faintly even as she attempted to keep going.
"I...I..." It was pointless for her to try and talk and as soon as she opened her mouth her foot caught itself against the back of her heel. It sent her tumbling onto her hands and knees with a hard crash, and Ana pushed herself back up onto all fours as she wheezed to get her breath back. Just why was she running, and why was she running after a cat? What was going on? She didn't have time to waste by asking, and she shoved herself back to her feet and looked for the cat. Please, please don't have let her savior get too far ahead while she'd tumbled.

********* was no Russian Blue, so the use of Russian curses were absolutely foreign to her. Every so often her green eyes did flick back to the unawakened senshi. There was an enormous pause when the girl tumbled down, but due to her mouth being full she couldn't say anything. However, the running had already managed to put some distance between the predator and the prey. This wooded area was the predator's domain, and they needed to get out of such an advantage for their opponent as quickly as possible.
Continuing to dash along, her bell collar jingling wildly, soon enough the pair would see the light of the streetlamps in the park. The girl had entered from the opposite end, and now they were about to exit the other side.

Lights, lamps! The street, the street! They were finally out, out onto the street, and Ana paused to catch her breath. She'd been wheezing, not aware she was so out of shape to begin with, and she huffed a few times before looking over her shoulder to see if whatever that thing was happened to be chasing. She couldn't see it and she placed her hands on her knees, her body bent over as she gasped for air. "Just...just what was that thing?"
Perhaps she was speaking to the cat which had come from before her, holding something strange in its mouth, or perhaps she was only speaking to herself in an effort to calm her nerves. Ana was all but shaking as she turned to look around, unsure of where she was, and her breaths still came in short puffs as she tried to place her location. It had been a bad idea for her to explore in the dark after all but now was not the time for regrets. Ana could kick herself later, if she wanted to, but it had been her choice and she certainly hadn't expected that weird thing to come after her at all.
"Are things like this common in the cities here? Strange creatures and talking cats?" Once again Ana was mostly speaking to herself as she pulled her hands to her chest and started walking, her direction unknown. She just couldn't stay standing, not if that thing really was going to give chase (if it should appear), and it turns out she was actually pacing rather than going somewhere. It was a moot point and she knew it, but now what? She didn't know where she was, how to get home, and if it was safe to even try. "Ahhhh, Ana, this is what you get for wanting an adventure today."

They were out of the woods, so to speak, but that didn't mean they were out of danger! Once in the light of a streetlamp, the cat spat the object she had in her mouth onto the ground. It was like a large novelty pen.
"It's a youma, and you need to defeat it! Take this pen and shout out 'Diotima Power Make-up!' Make sure to use all feeling and energy you can into shouting it!" The manx set a paw on the object before attempting to slide it to the blonde.
"...We can talk about the other questions you have later... just take care of this now, please!"

Ana paused in her pacing as the cat spoke again, and she eyed the object that it placed down before her with its paws. "Di- what -" This was happening entirely too quickly, entirely too much, and Ana was starting to wonder if maybe she fell and hit her head?
But....she wouldn't be able to hear her heart if this was a dream, nor would she be able to nod her head in response and bend down to pick up the weird pen. If it was a dream she certainly wouldn't have been able to do what she did next - though it would have made better sense if it had been all in her mind.
"Diotima Power, MAKE-UP!" She held the pen above her head and closed her eyes, focusing on everything and yet focusing on nothing at all. If it wasn't for the fact that the situation seemed to urgent she might have felt a little silly but - the feeling of ridiculousness suddenly stopped.
It was like being enveloped in warm, in an embrace from someone she didn't know in her mind yet her heart was all too familiar with. She could feel a strong yet gentle sensation run over ever inch of her body, and when she opened her eyes again Anastasia Hughes was no more.
She was now Sailor Diotima, the Senshi of Honesty.
" . . . . . " That, of course, didn't mean she knew anything else about anything else, and Diotima took a few shaky steps in her new shoes. "Wh....what do I do now?"

********* backed up the moment the girl shouted out the phrase, allowing her room for the transformation that was about to happen. It seemed as if daisies were attracted to this senshi, for they started to seemingly sprout all over her hair. If it weren't for the approaching youma, the guardian might have had time to compliment this girl on how cute she looked in this fuku.
Clawing its way out of the wooded area, the youma let out a raspy cawing noise from its throat. Where as before the treat it was chasing was somewhat ordinary, now the treat had turned into something a bit more delicious. Senshi had much better starseeds. Without any hesitation, the creature charged towards the pair.
It was pretty obvious the senshi should get out of the way, but being so new to this whole thing, the feline warned her "Get out of the way!" The small pale animal followed her own advice, jumping out of the way before giving a set of instructions. "Shout 'THE TRUTH HURTS' and then tell it something... anything about what you think of it! THEN PUNCH IT OR KICK IT OR SOMETHING!"
