With a jolting start, Nagi felt himself ascending at a rapid pace. At first, he had no idea where he was going, or how far it was, but it was as if fate had grabbed him by the wrist and led the way. He allowed it, for a short time. It wasn't until he nearly smacked his face into the door of his own apartment that he came to the realization of where he was at. His feelings had gotten the better of him, and for a good reason. He knew what awaited him beyond the door.
A short while ago, after he thought he had escaped his past, a face from beyond the world of the living had reunited with him. It was the person who had seen through it all- his training, his achievements, and his betrayal. It was the woman who he had loved more than anything else in the world. Although his boss, Babba-san, had seen the encounter as odd, Nagi saw through the disguise of an old woman, who randomly wandered into their shop, to be Yuki, his lover from the Soul Society. She was now there, in his room, waiting for him. He had been working all day, and now he was ready to reap the benefits of living the normal life of a human. It wasn't for money, for independence... it was to be loved and accepted, even by someone who was no longer alive. In fact, he was no longer alive himself.
Sliding the door abruptly to the left, he entered the apartment cool as anything. His jinbei, sweaty and scented heavily with the aroma of tea, hung loosely off his shoulders. Black hair, slick with sweat from the hot kitche. He longed for a shower, but first needed the passionate embrace of his companion after a long day. Little did she know, he had a plan. Though he never mentioned of it nor expressed the slightest hint of it, he was going to follow through with it the next day- his day off. He wanted to spend the entire day with her, no matter what world they would end up in.
Just as he was about to announce his entrance, the toe of his shoe caught itself upon the tetami beyond the doorway, and before he knew it, his face had collided with the floor. Clumsy as always, he slightly reared up, laughing at himself. Did she see that? Most likely...

Yuki had spent the whole day out and about to see the town. Not that there was much to do for either an old woman or an intangible ghost, so it was a fairly boring day for her. Eventually she phased back through the wall to her lover's apartment, having given up on the idea that anything interesting would be around this tiny little bus-stop of a town. Admittedly, even if there was, it was almost certain she wouldn't be able to enjoy it due to her... "Condition". In her head she had determinedly decided that she was at least going to have to make trips back and forth to pick up supplies, should she stay here for any length of time.
She lay back on Nagi's bed, looking up at the ceiling as she mentally plotted out how she was going to stick around, and be happy in a place where she didn't belong. A whole shopping list of high tech gadgets was slowly and carefully being assembled in her head, as the soft click of the lock alerted her to the arrival of her lover. She turned her head idly to watch as he walked in, almost strutting! she was surprised at the look of confidence across his face! It was a rare day when he didn't stub his toe, or fall on his face, slam the door and jump. No, today seemed to be his kind of day. She turned, and hung her feet over the edge of the bed, expectantly, smiling as he confidently walked towards here.
Then equally as confidently, tripped and fell on the floor at her feet.
Yuki busted up laughing at the sight of it. Now that was more like her typical Nagi! She slid off the bed to the floor where he was laying, looking like a dork, as usual and gave him a kiss on the forehead. She was still laughing a little, as she tried to tell him of her master plan.
"I need to head.... To squad 12 and get some supplies... If i'm going to stay here"
She managed to blurt out between fits of giggles and kisses.
