Okay so this is somthing I had to write for my Pre-AP lit. class. My partner and I are both bi so we thought it would be cool to use homophobes as an aduiance. It was a persuasive speech and I think we did pretty good on it... sweatdrop
It’s Dark in Here
People are different. Some people have weird facial expressions; some people have multiple personalities, some people like the same gender. People act different too, some people ignore things, some people gossip behind backs, and some people outwardly express their hate. Some people, afraid of change, only looking through judging eyes, seeing the world how it should be to them makes it hard for other people to be true to themselves! Everybody liking the same gender, everyone staying the gender they were born in, everyone having ‘regular’ marriages.
Well, that’s not how this world is, not at all. The world is filled with people who are different. They hide from you because you judge them, bane them, do horrible things to them! Why? Well, they aren’t like you or because they like the same gender. You call them, us, ‘f**’ and ‘queer’ just because of it. Open your eyes. Our lives are tough enough with everyday problems such as school and family, we don’t need fellow students in that mix.
You people have neither right nor reason to call us what you do. You say, “Religion?” Well the bible says that sleeping with the same gender is an abomination? You do realize that the Bible also states that it’s bad to get tattoos, get round hair cuts, wear garments of mixed fabrics, and to play with the skin of a pig. Well, there goes football. So how come you over look those things but yet, two guys or two girls dating is so bad?
How come Charlie Sheen can have a porn family? Its ok Britney Spears can have a 55 hour marriage, or Larry King and Newt Gengrich can have multiple divorces? Yet, it’s so wrong for two people of the same sex to date? Nope, we can’t get married because some people believe marriage should only be between a man and women. You might even believe letting same sex marriages would open up the door for people to marry their toaster, a dog, or even children! Well we are hear to tell you that CAN’T happen, a toaster, a dog or a child CANNOT I REPEAT CANNOT give consent.
Do you know how many students experience harassment at school because of their sexual orientation? According to a survey in 2009, 86.2%, that’s 9 out of 10! Or that 60.8% feel unsafe at school because of you? 32.7% skipped a day of school in the past month in fear of you. We don’t walk up to you and accuse you of being heterosexual, do we? We have never came up to one of you and said: ‘Hey, you know how much it sickens me that you’re straight.’ We don’t bully you, why do you bully us? Because we’re different? What a boring place earth would be if we were all the same!!
It’s harsh discrimination that makes this world so bad. It’s student bullying students over something stupid and pointless that makes this world so dark. Here is some humor for you; how many Homophobes does it take to change a light bulb? 1, maybe 2? No, the answer is none, because homophobes are afraid of change. Come on fellow students, it shouldn’t matter that we like the same gender, its dark in here, let’s change a light bulb.
