Mission
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Survey Mission 3A
Article Headline: "Haunted" house leaves three dead.
* D class difficulty level (you can run this mission solo or with a group/team)
*Article contents: Three teenagers were last seen exploring a "haunted" house close to an abandoned asylum. All of them are reported as missing, there has been no trace of their bodies or remains of their bodies nearby.
MECHANICS

* MECHANICS: RP assembling a team, as necessary, before heading towards the Lighthouse portal to request a portal to Survey Mission 3A. Once there, roll a 100-sided dice and match the roleplay to the results below, as well as any reactions. Each player must roll at least three times with rped reactions. Once they have "collected enough information", they can return back and submit a report in this thread.
1- 20: The "house", which is really a shack, is patrolled by police. You are stalled as you look around, having to hide a bit as you don't really want to get spotted/caught.
21 - 40: You notice the windows have been shattered, all of the windows even. There seems to be a strange black ichor around the windows.
41 - 60: The inside of the shack is nothing ordinary, it is just really, a single room. You can't help but notice however, that outside the windows, you can see the looming outline of the old white asylum building, though it has been closed down, it seems ominous.
61 - 80: There are grave markers scattered outside the shack, closer towards the asylum. Each grave marker has no name on it.
81- 100: Something catches your eyes for a second - you look towards the abandoned asylum further in the distance, and for a second you swear you can see someone, or something, standing there...

* 2 mission reward points for completing this successfully

Marcus had come a bit prepared this time. Bandages, a few baggies, two empty film canisters, a pocket knife, pencil and a small notebook, and a lighter. Just never knew. Jordan had the right idea to come prepared, while it was all small, it was useful if the need arose. Hopefully, he'd not need to use anything but it was good to have on hand, that sort of thing.

He'd invited Michael along because after the mission with Ofelia, it was kind of nice to help the newer trainees out, and the guy was his division to boot. He'd sent him a copy of the mission article and the information he'd gathered. He'd almost invited Cass but- this was the type of place he didn't think she'd enjoy. Haunts and ghosts... Not a good mix, not unless he wanted to be wrangling his girlfriend around. Micheal did not need that s**t.

By the lighthouse, he waiting, asking the on duty hunter about some possible ways to get past the deathsweeper, apparently even the veteran mist hated it.

Michael was a little less prepared; just a pen, notebook, flashlight, water bottle and his cell. But then he really didn’t know what to expect yet - that was why it was a good idea for the senior hunters to take them out for their first mission.

Spotting Marcus already at the lighthouse he sped up his walk, waving at the hunter to catch his attention.

"Hey, we good to head out?" he asked in case there was any last minute prep, like paperwork, they had to do before heading through. He hoped not, Nucha had been practically squeeing in his about finally doing something off island and he was pretty sure he would mentally go death if he didn’t get them there soon.

Waving back, as Michael showed and asked the question, Marcus shook his head, "We're all set to head out, portal is up and running and we have our location and orders. Most times with missions like these it's pretty fast, in and out. So, let's get to work shall we?" Without hesitating he turned, going through the portal. The lack of light almost prompted him to turn on his flashlight and quickly scan the area around him, but he held off. Dis was less than happy to report he didn't sense any lingering FEAR, (and thus, nothing to feed on.), and that he couldn't sense anything else.

Until he looked towards what could only be the asylum. Something was in the distance. but when he glanced back to the portal just for a second, the figure had vanished. Dis wasn't feeling any FEAR but- "Michael, be on you guard alright?" Whatever he saw real or imagined, was still something, and Marcus would rather be wary than not.

Michael wasn’t really sure what he was supposed to be looking for aside from 'not right' which already had him slightly on edge, fiddling with string that Nuucha's unsummoned form rested on. This was only added to when Marcus told him to be on his guard, which he was sure would normally be perfectly common sense and non-creepy advice but...

He glanced in the same direction as Marcus, feeling an ominous tingle go down his spine at the cold white lines of the old asylum building. This area was just plain off, it definatly had that haunted house vibe that the brief had mentioned.

"Sure... do you think we'll actually run into something whilst out here?"

It was as far as he was aware just recon but with vibes like that... Michael had learned to trust his gut.

It was definitely not right by any set of standards. Not as bad as somethings, such as the alley covered in the dead bodies of small animals, but it was unsettling. It didn't help that they got to be 'in tune' with the extra s**t either. "Hopefully not." He answered, looking back at where he spotted the figure. "Our mission is observation, and if we encounter anything, our best bet would be to makes sure we can fight it if at all, or ditch out to report to the higher ups. Risking our lives when we're only told to do one things is... I don't even know really. The Leads are weird, for now let's just hope it doesn't happen."

Hope was a big thing he felt he was relying on these days and it didn't sit well with Marcus. As he began to go up to the shack the glow of flashlights and the sound of men rang out. "s**t." He hissed. "Michael, get behind that bush hit the ground and ********-" Cursing again, Marcus dove behind a bush as an officer got closer. This was NOT what they needed.

Well that was actually really comforting that the higher up's didn’t expect them to do anything more than the initial job. "Yeah lets ho-" Michael was interrupted when all of a sudden Marcus dived into a bush yelling at him to get down. There was a small pause in action where Michael basically had no fricking clue what was going on and then he too spotted the flashlights, barely ducking behind the bush in time.

There was a tense few moments as the patrol passed by, Michael could practically feel his heart try to beat out of his chest from the suspense. Could they get in trouble for this? They weren’t even on the property properly yet and surely the Hunter's had some sort of official bullshit cover story right? Right!? Oh god why did they wear white it was so conspicuous when trying to hide in the dark the flashlights would pick them up easily! How could these guys not see and hear them where they deaf and blind or something?!

Finally letting out a breath of relief the cops voices faded away and putting that up to his good luck of the year Michael glanced at Marcus before cautiously sitting up from the bushes. As he did so something caught his eye near the shack on the asylum side.

Where those... gravestones? Squinting at them from their hiding position Michael tugged on Marcus's sleeve pointing towards them, still not trusting himself to speak lest he call the cops back.

******** cops. Glaring as they passed, he took slow, deep breaths. At least it was better than NYC where wrong place wrong time tended to happen a lot. Still, they were lucky. Getting up off the ground, Marcus dusted himself off. Looking over to where Michael pointed Marcus scowled. "That wasn't in the file..." He said under his breath. "Good eye Michael, now let's hope we don't have anymore interruptions." Walking over to the graves it was easy to see one jarring thing about them. "...No names of the deceased." Taking out the small note book and pencil, he quickly began to make a small layout of the graves in relation to the house, as well as information that was on the tombstones.

Done with that, he took a few photos, (if blurry). "Those in an asylum would have either have been wards of the state or have had family. Just the same, unless this is a family plot.." Victims to whatever was in the house? "When we find anything of interest, take notes and photos if possible. If it seems out of place, there is a chance it might be."

Michael still feeling quite paranoid about police being around let Marcus focus on the gravestones, nodding along as he talked about the various details and making a mental note to bring a camera next time then.

It was because of this he even managed to see them in the first place, spotting them exactly where Marcus had been before. For a second he considered dismissing them as a policeman too far off hopefully to see them but something made him paused.

He blinked and they disappeared. Michael's heart rate in reply decided to spike again because holy hell defiantly not normal that.

"Uh- um. Did you- see over there? Earlier? Something? Because I think I saw whatever it was again if you did." nice amount of coherency there Michael.

Listening for anything, trying to find clues- that was cut short as Michael pointed out what Marcus saw. So they were not hallucinating. Good to know. Looking to the same place as before, Marcus frowned it had passed, jut like the first time. "Weapon at the ready, unsummoned. The glow might give our location away more than these coats oddly enough, and there isn't a need to make an abomination think we're here to challenge it. Observation is out goal right now."

Heading into the building it was... rather normal all things considered. A single room, with windows and a door. "How cozy." he half joked. Looking out the window, his joke fell dead. "Damn Asylum.. never likes hospitals, and that place doesn't sit right." His frown was back in full force. "And when we feel put off s**t is definitely going down."

"Me neither." he thought about his cousin then, about the threats from her parents. Ultimate irony that she had been right all along. He wondered how many other people had been wrongfully institutionalized, driven mad by the creatures.

A flash of light came into the shack through one of the windows and Michael internally swore, ducking down below the windows as another group of police patrolled the shack.

Cursing, (he needed to work on that), Marcus ducked under a window, hoping the gold of their coats wouldn't reflect off of anything. The moment seemed to pass quickly enough, and Marcus relaxed. "Seriously, wish they would buzz off for a but you know?"

Dusting off his coat he glanced back at the asylum. Someone was- "Same guy?" He muttered. "Well, I don't know who's in the distance but, lets hurry it up shall we. Another quick glance over and call this mission good."

Another beam of light quickly followed the last one, this time accompanied by questioning voices.

Michael quickly and probably not very thoroughly scanned his eyes around the shack one more time before gesturing at Marcus for them to get out of there. Those cops where getting way too close for his liking and hey better to pull out with what they had now then spend who knows how many hours on police bullshit.

s**t s**t s**t ********. Again, he hid, the police just barely missing them. "Okay, let's haul a**. Not wanting to deal police, or, angry hunters that would have to come and get us." Making a mad dash for the portal, Marcus looked back at Michael. "Let's go hope, drop off our findings and submit our reports. Police aside, not a bad mission really, considering."

Smiling he went to the other side, home sweet home.
