After her ordeal with turning Eternal, Grus found herself in a rut. All this time she thought it would be wonderful to finally have this kind of power, the power to do actual damage, and yet now that it was in her grasp she fond that she didn't want it. The first time using her attacked had scared her. The second time terrified.
So she hid away her henshin pen, throwing it in a sock drawer. She didn't touch it for a week before it called to her.
Besides, she hadn't told her friends the good news...could it still be called good news?
Eternal Grus was out once again, letting the wind carry her fears away. Maybe she would encounter a youma that didn't require her attack. Heck, maybe she wouldn't see anyone. Before she leapt from her window sill, she pulled out her phone, scrolling through the contacts. She wanted to shoot a text over, just to say that she was out and about in case they wanted to meet. But she didn't. Instead she put the phone away, and disappeared into the night. Her neighborhood was easy to patrol, the safer route then say, through the park. And after arguing with Thule about her duties as a senshi, she realized that she really hadn't been protecting her home. So she stayed close, walking through the streets without much fear of being noticed. This was the type of neighborhood that had small children who forced silence around homes before it even got dark. She felt her nerves drift away. There wouldn't be anyone here tonight.

"Well well, looks like someone's got even more feathers. Does being so fluffy actually help in a fight, or is it just to cushion your falls?"
Eternal Sailor Chaonis dropped into her path, smiling at her keenly. He hadn't been following her long, picking up on the familiar but different energy signature and finding her in a short moment. Whenever someone wanted to be alone he had a very annoying habit of showing up.
He was very good at being where he was not wanted.
But sometimes he also had the habit of being where he was needed. A friend in need kind of thing. He was very sensitive to his friends, however thick and rock like he seemed. Though he was as subtle as an elephant on a unicycle, he was still a good guy at heart. And he cared, in a unique but still deep way, about those he had bonded with.
Something seemed off with Grus, and he noticed that. He grinned at her anyway, though, arms folded over his chest in his almost comforting, routine way. At least he could be counted on for something.

Even without a message sent, he'd shown up.
Grus jumped, then smiled warmly at probably her best senshi friend. It was wither him or Polaris. She wasn't going to decide. The wise crack didn't go unnoticed, and she twirled on the spot, saying "I guess whoever decides what fukus looked like decided that I needed another set of wings." Like that was necessary. She already had so many dang feathers it looked like she could be a bird.
"These things are pretty ok, unless you want to sit down." Then they had a nasty habit of getting in the way and making a comfortable sit impossible.
She was glad to see him. It hadn't been more than two weeks since they went paintballing, but it was too long in Grus's mind. She found herself wishing she could see him more often. It was both interesting and annoying.

Chaonis watched her with his keen eyes, which seemed to see more than his attitude and flippant regard for the world moving around him indicated. He was wise in a stupid way.
"Well, now you're part of the cool club. You put those wings to good use yet?"
Of course, he didn't mean flying. They couldn't do that. He just wanted to know if she had been out fighting and practicing with her new found power. Power wasn't meant to be wasted, that was an easy thing for him to abide by. What was the point of having these powers if not to use them?
He didn't understand, sometimes, when people complained about it, or when they didn't power up. At least on a personal level.
"Cause if not, we can go find something to test your steel against."

Her happy glow seemed to dim somewhat when he asked about her new power. She became slightly more subdued, right hand grasping her left arm. Grus didn't want to admit that she had, which was strange.
"I've...used the power once or twice." She said with reluctance, trying to to think about it. She caused so much pain...
"It's a lot different than my other attacks." the girl said, blue eyes looking everywhere but at him. Aw man, she was going to make fun of her. Or worse, tell her to try it out on him. No way! She mentally shook herself silly. There was absolutely no way she was going to show him. What if he thought she was awful? It tore Lesath to shreds! And caused Painite to fall to the ground.
No, gotta be upbeat. Don't get upset. That would be silly, and god knows she didn't want him to see her upset. Nevermind that he had already seen her beat to hell and covered in bruises.
Her mind starting sifting for things to talk about. Things that weren't senshi powers.

Chaonis watched her, frowning at her change. Even he could notice some things, not as dense as he played. She was tense, and he knew that meant something bad must have happened with her powers before. He didn't know what, assuming she wasn't very good at them and was embarrassed about it.
He had taken a long time to learn how to use his Eternal attack, after all.
As she explained further he remained quiet, even keeping his teasing in check.
"What do you mean different? I think that's supposed to happen." He shrugged. From what he had seen with other eternals, anyway, they had been different. He watched her, knowing there was something she wasn't saying. She didn't look right. By now at least, he could tell when she was hiding something from him.
And when she wasn't happy.
"What's the problem, then?" he grunted, cutting to the point. "You look like you've just gotten arrested."

Well now she was in for it. The blonde mentally berated herself for letting her anxiety show. Now he was gonna ask to see it , and she really didn't want to hurt him!
His mild sarcasm didn't go unnoticed, and she managed to shoot him an eye roll, saying "Of course it's different. That is kinda the problem. See my other attacks didn't do much, but this one...." she trailed off, her face reddening slightly "This one does too much! It really hurts people!"
The cat was out of the bag, and she gave an uncharacteristic stomp of her foot, hands clutched to her side. Immature, yes.
"I thought I was over not wanting to hurt people. I mean, that Moth girl was crazy and attacked me for no reason. And Painite was gonna make me a kabob if I didn't do something. But I caused them a lot of pain." Her eyes held an equal amount of pain in them when she finally looked up at Chaonis again. "They were burnt. How could I do something like that?"
Suddenly those wings that she was so proud of felt heavy against her back. They were weighing her down emotionally. How could she wear those things with pride knowing that she didn't want to use the attack that had come with them?

Chaonis watched her.
"That's what it's supposed to do. You're not doing that 'oh fighting is terrible' thing again, are you? Fighting is necessary. Hurting people is necessary. They're just going to kick your face in if you let them. I mean. You can keep it from hurting your friends, can't you?"
As she explained further he listened with something almost close to patience, though that was clearly not something he practiced often. He had his arms folded over his chest and he sighed almost softly.
She was getting him to do a lot of things he didn't often do. Or maybe he just pretended he wasn't capable of them.
"Don't worry. Listen, if you hadn't, do you think they would have let you live? Do you think you'd be here now, able to regret it? You didn't kill them, so that means they're going to be out and about, doing the same thing again, attacking other senshi. You should think about them before you pity the people that you hurt. They're the bad guys: your team mates can't do the same damage you can. So if you can do it, then why should you hide away from it? Regret it? You're stronger now, and you're an Eternal. Whether you want it to or not, that means something. I dunno what, but it does."
He watched her, tilting his head.
"I know you don't like hurting people. Yeah, it can suck sometimes, I guess. But there are people that need to be stopped and if you're capable of doing it, you can't wuss out, can you?"

He was right. Even without saying it, he was basically calling her a baby. She was an Eternal now! She has been a senshi for over a year. This fighting thing should be a piece of cake by now. She nodded, squashing the rising panic in her throat back into her stomach where it belonged.
"I know I have to help my friends. To protect them. I just wasn't expecting my power to cause people so much pain. Paper cuts are nothing. These feathers are...different. Like I said, they cause burns." She had worked with her mom in the kitchen long enough to know that burns hurt much more than cuts, and got infected a lot easier.
She dipped her head in apology. "I'm sorry. It seems like whenever I talk to you about powers I get to being a baby." her face colored slightly. "I guess it's because you don't have the same reaction, even though your power causes damage too." Actually now that she thought about it, his power did a lot more damage than hers. She burnt people, he could destroy a building!
She forced a smile, feeling the effect take over until she was smiling for real. "So I'm Eternal. Now what do I do? Do I have to train other senshi?" Her voice held a tinge of disdain. She really didn't want to teach younger senshi.

"Dude, my power makes earthquakes I can't control, and breaks anything nearby. Whether a good guy is standing under it or not. I'm not saying I don't like it, because I do, but that's the card I was dealt and it's my job to figure out how to play the hand. It's just one card in the deck: the rest come from how you fight, and what you're trying to do."
He almost made sense. He almost sounded like he not only knew what he was talking about, but he wanted to share it and wanted to, of all things, help.
He punched her hard in the arm. Not an attack, just a little bit more than a playful sock to get her attention.
"You're a senshi. So am I. You fight the good fight or whatever. Great. I know you don't like hurting people, but some of them need to be hurt. The rest we can save, as long as they don't die. People get hurt in war, even if they're innocent: we just need to keep them alive. I'm not saying go out and use your powers on civilians, but why not use them on people that deserve it?"
He shrugged his shoulders with the look of nonchalance, despite how suddenly invested he was.
"You do whatever you want," he said thoughtfully, "I haven't really been told what to do. I make sure senshi can fight, and I kick bad guy a**. What did you do before? Just do that. Only more awesome."

She laughed, letting the momentum of the punch rock her sideways and back to reality. He was right. She was being downright dumb about her powers. First she was upset because she couldn't do anything. But now that she cold she was angry about it?
"As much as I hate to admit it, your right." She said, throwing her arms out above her head in a stretch. "But I gotta say, I have had to answer the questions from new senshi and they get kind of old." It wasn't that she didn't like new senshi, they just reminded her of when she was like that. And she had to answer the same questions over and over....
Her stretch completed, Grus went back to a lazy standing position. "Hey, did you ever get to your planet?" The random thought popped into her head. She hadn't been to her planet in a long time, and she remembered Chaonis hadn't visited his yet when he went with her.

"I'm always right," he grinned at her. It was a hilariously bad thing for him to even begin to think was true, as he had no hope of being right about most things. Definitely not all things.
But he certainly liked to think it.
"Yeah it does. Get old I mean. But they don't know any better and we do, I guess." He laughed, shaking his head. He didn't care too much about being an authority figure or someone to look up to. He just liked getting his opinion out there and around. And he liked people listening to him.
At her question about his planet he shrugged.
"Yeah, I went. It's a dust ball. I dunno. There's some stuff there though. I need to explore it some more. I guess it's alright." He was almost embarrassed about it, though. "You should come with me. See if it strikes any more bells." He grinned at her. He had not gotten any memories from his first visit, and felt a little detached from the place.

The girl rolled her eyes dramatically. "I didn't say you were always right there buddy." If he started thinking he was always right, the world was in big trouble!
She tilted her head to one side as he described his planet. He didn't seem very excited about it, not like she was when she first went to Grus. She wondered just what this dust ball looked like. Was there really nothing there?
"I would totally go there!" she said, lighting up, if possible, even more. Grus had never been to anyone else's planet, and she was SO curious about them! She already guessed that his didn't look anything hers, which made the idea that much more exciting!
Their former topic exhausted, Grus clicked open her phone to check the time. Two weeks of regular sleep threw off her internal clock. "So other than finally making it to your planet, what have you been up to these last couple of weeks?" Small talk subject? Really? She inwardly face palmed.

Chaonis was pretty sure she had to admit he was always right, and did not believe her argument against the fact. Clearly her denial was just to help he cope with his awesomeness, and he allowed her that. He could be a chivalrous man when he had the inclination.
The planet Chaonis had only been interesting for a moment, but they'd left before anything overly cool had happened. And certainly nothing dangerous, which was strange to him. Weren't planets supposed have something to do with their spheres?
Or was he making that up because he really liked the idea of a Danger Planet?
Eh. Whatever.
"Well, I went to the dentist on tuesday and oh em gee, the ladies there were so rude." He arched an eyebrow at her, then grinned at his teasing. He shook his head. "I dunno. Nothing, I guess. You wanna to space some time?" He asked it so nonchalantly, it almost seemed like it didn't register. But he had gone to her planet, and he knew she was interested in them, so he asked.
Like he knew how to be a friend or something.

She rolled her eyes, knowing that he caught her conversational folly. Kid was sharp, she sometimes forgot that. "That is like, soooo interesting!" she retorted, raising her voice another octave to add a high pitched, stereotypical valley girl whine to her sentence.
"Sure. How about right now?" She was getting increasingly curious about this planet of his. The night was young, and quiet. If a youma or Negaverse agent hadn't picked up on two Eternal signatures standing in one spot for an extended period of time, then they must not be around. Why waste the night searching for something that wasn't there?
"Unless you have outstanding plans or something later. I know the streets aren't going to vandalize themselves. Or perhaps you have a damsel in distress to save." Her smile was teasing, but she sincerely hoped that he was wasn't planning on doing either of these.
