"Where have you both been?!" Dark blue eyes glittered with a sadness that would normally only be seen in a cub. However, this was Iovit... No, Halcyon, they were talking about. Nothing was normal when it came to dealing with him.
One of the two bird familiars sighed, it seemed to be the female, mother hen of the group. "Oh stop it you. Him and I needed a nice vacation. It isn't like we left you forever alone!" Fluttering her wings in exasperation, she glanced over at Nall to further assist her with their problem. Calming Hal down.
"She is right, Halcyon. Me and Pichichu would never leave you alone for long. We just... you know. Needed some alone time." The darker blue bird looked over at the larger, fluffy female and clicked his beak. He was obviously in some sort of wonderland. What had they been doing?
Scowling at the both of them, Halcyon stood up straight, staring down at them like that had been doing something distasteful. "You two have been doing it... Haven't you?!" He knew he was right, they had been flirting for awhile now. Even though they promised they wouldn't do that to him.
Both birds looked at each other, then at Halcyon and shouted, "NO!!"
Narrowing dark blue eyes at both of the birds, Hal just shook his head. "Sure."

It had been one heck of a long night for Nema, having stayed up all night chattering about the latest gossip between the stars and the moon. It was well worth it, when the light first hit the dirt in front of her den. She had bowed her farewells to the stars, promising to once again return the following night. Then she had weakly crawled into her den and instantly fallen asleep. Expecting to awake once more to the gentle sounds of the stars twinkling around her.
But instead, the sounds she heard now weren't the stars, nor were they gentle. It sounded somewhat angry, and a little confused. Angry by her sudden and rude awakening, Nema attempted to sleep once more. But the voice continued to fill into her den. Causing the female to angrily climb to her weary feet and leave her den. The sun was bright, and instantly blinded the young female, having been nocturnal for so long she hardly knew how to react to the sun anymore.
Squinting her eyes past the blinding rays, she could make out the figure of a male lion, and what looked like a bird or two. She timidly stepped forward, her paws and tail dragging across the ground as exhaustion made it's point clear. "Hey, what's with all the racket out here, can't a girl get some sleep without someone screaming around here?" her voice was a bit gruff but it got her point across. Of course the pride had gotten a lot quieter as of late, but it still wasn't as quiet as she'd prefer.

Both birds about jumped out of their skin when they heard the lioness' harsh voice and without another word both took flight, gliding away from Halcyon to deal with this trouble himself. How very helpful these two were... and by helpful, he means cowardly and lame.
Shaking his head at the actions his two friends took, Hal turned to face the lioness he had awoken. Not exactly knowing why she would be so upset in the first place. They were only birds, they enjoyed being loud together and they could sing beautifully. Then there was the fact that they could fly. That in and of itself made them amazing. Didn't she realize this?
Looking his new guest over, he was just about dumbfounded. Why did she look so exhausted? It was fairly early in the day still! Was she ill? Ignoring the statement she had made, Halcyon went right to his own thoughts. "Are you well? You... You look like you might die."
Unknown to him, Pichichu had decided to stay in a nearby tree, unlike the cowardly Nall and watch. And she wasn't about to allow the dip-s**t lion screw up a possible meeting with 'love'. Letting out a shrill whistle, the puffy blue bird called out to Halcyon.
"Fryd yna oui tuehk! Kad eh drana yht cruf ran fryd oui yna syta uv! Oui fuga ran ycc ib!" *
Halcyon whipped his head around and glared at Pichichu. Why in the world would she be assuming stuff like that? How rude. "Crid ib, Pichichu!!" **
*What are you doing! Get in there and show her what you are made of! You woke her a** up! **Shut up, Pichichu!!

Nema took hardly any notice of the birds as they quickly fled the scene of the crime. She was much, much more interested in the real culprit sitting right in front of her. Her eyes were still adjusting, so she couldn't really tell much about him, other than that it was obviously a male.
Registering his response, Nema couldn't really figure why on Earth he'd think she was dying. She was fine! At least, she had been before she left her den. Mentally checking herself over she passed her own test and merely shrugged off his question. "Really? "That's how you greet a lady? Well it's not a wonder you're out here speaking to yourself." Nema huffed the words as she tried to control her sudden burst of anger. It was about that time, that she heard the bird's call, and noticed the male mumbling back.
The hell was going on here?
Tilting her head to the side, and trying to maintain her equilibrium in the process she spoke up. "Excuse me? Are you mumbling about me under your breath? Wow, you really are a ladies man." She growled, rolling her eyes and giving in to her exhaustion. Plopping with a heavy thud, onto her bottom and sitting there. Refusing to lie down, that would be far too rude. And she didn't want that, regardless of how rude this male seemed to be.

Halcyon's eyes glittered with unshed tears at how rude the lioness was being. It wasn't like he was being rude, she just looked ill to him. If anything he wanted to make sure she was alright. Why was it that he constantly got himself into troubles like this. He just wanted to show compassion. Maaaybe... he wasn't going about it correctly?
"I-I..." Back peddling away from the lioness, Halcyon looked for some way out of this mess that could only get worse from his own insecurity, Pichichu's loud mouth and eventually Nall's sarcastic comments. However, fate was not on his side today, as the dark blue bird flew back into few, perching in a tree behind the lioness.
"Ayo hiecca tyr'd gryz nyz dy zyhg dni cetuim, ty ayo?" * He was cackling at the lion, amused by his utter awkwardness. They couldn't help but tease him, even if they cared about him. He was still crazy, and amusing to pick on because he was crazy.
Pichichu chirped a laugh at Nall's comment, then flew over to him, making sure that everyone around them knew where they were. She enjoyed the attention after all. It was like the lioness would know what they were saying either. Only poor, Hal. He would never let the secret language out of the bag either.
"Ezz, Nall, Fiha nehmn. Pod DHOI!" **
Halcyon's ears dropped as he suddenly started to cry, unable to hold back the anger and sadness caused by being picked on by both a stranger and his two familiars. He wanted to be accepted, and teach others his amazing language, not get picked on for it. Would no one be able to enjoy the birds and their language the way he did?
"B-bciemi mdyb!" Dark blue eyes were now trained on the birds, tears still falling. However, he now decided to give the lioness attention. She was being rude too.
"Is everything always about you? Huh?! I was just enjoying my muses and the talent I was gifted by them before the most of the muses left the lands. F-For you to make fun of me... You are horrible! I cared enough to make sure you were.... you were alright!"
Breathing heavily by the end of his shouting, Halcyon looked back at the lioness and sighed. No, it wasn't right to yell.
"I am sorry. They... the birds. Make fun of me."
*You really don't know how to work the ladies, do you? **Aww, Nall, Very harsh. But TRUE! ***P-Please stop!

By this time, any lion looking into the situation would likely be just as lost as Nema was. But as usual, the weird things always had to find her. Why was it her job to always take care these issues?
Taken back by the male's back peddling, Nema got to her feet, her legs wobbly as she stood, slowly taking steps forward to match his going backward. As she tried to close the gap between them, a loud duo of birds began to chirp loudly, almost as though they were trying to be heard. Confused by the sudden racket - she broke eye contact with her strange male visitor and began looking for the birds. She sure could hear them, but she couldn't really make out any bird type silhouettes in the trees.
Looking back, she couldn't really see his tears, but her hearing had to be sharp - especially to hear the stars. So instantly she knew she had somehow harmed him. How the hell that had happened - was far beyond her scope of understanding. HE'S the one who'd woken her up. HE'S the one who'd told her she looked terrible, and HE'S the one who'd been mumbling under his breath! The nerve of some lions! Just about at the end of her very short rope, Nema turned back towards her den. Ready to ignore this weird encounter and drift back off into sl-
But again, the male shocked her, turning the entire situation around on her as though she had been the one being rude. "How dare you be s-" Nema's words froze in her throat as he continued.
Muses? Did he say muses?
Yes he definitely had!
"WAIT!" She yelled, completely ignoring the rest of his rant. "The muses, you can hear them too? Words couldn't express her immediate change in mood at that moment. Ears perked and tail slightly wagging, Nema stepped ever closer to the male. "I-I'm sorry I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. I'm just very tired..." Not really knowing how to further explain her situation she left it at that. Watching as he stared back at her, commenting on the birds.
So that was his muse!? Oh that must be awesome! But - then he didn't seem all that amused by any of it.
"Your muse makes fun of you? Well what type of muse is that?" She grumbled, flashing a mean look back in the direction of the chirping.

When she yelled at, Halcyon, the two bird familiars quieted down, watching anxiously to see what possibly could happen next. They loved watching this sort of thing and knew their friend had to get himself to open up with more creatures of his own kind. It was part of the reason they were now being a bit cruel to him, for his own good.
"Leapi ni zucc legi e whuirt ed cyrk cemd." * Pichichu whispered softly to her partner. Nall just nodded his reply, watching intently.
Shocked that she had yelled back at him, Halcyon, could only stare wide-eyed in anticipation. When she questioned about the muses everything lit up. The mood that had been slowly snow balling to a danger zone now exploded into something light and happy. Was this lioness someone who could still enjoy their muses, or were perhaps interested in the muses? Inflating with excitement he answered her question.
"Yes! Those two bird familiars over there... I can speak their language, along with the common tongue they use on most lions." Nodding up at the tree, both blue birds stepped out to be seen easily.
As she continued to speak he nodded enthusiastically, so that was why she looked so ragged and probably why she was so short as well. Though, why in the world was she so tired in the first place? He would have to ask her that, but not now, he had to defend his muses.
"Yes... They didn't do it until just recently though. I... am not sure why though. I promise they are nice too." Dark blue eyes glimmered at his two friends.
"Syli mea niccy."** He called to them and they both nodded and flew in towards Halcyon, deciding to perk on the sides of his mane and stare out at the newcomer.
"Cra ec lida"*** Nall injected, looking at Hal with patient but expectant eyes.
*Maybe he will make a friend at long last. **Come say hello. ***She is cute

Nema could hear the light chirping of the birds but they were truly the least of her worries. She was now focusing all of her attention on the male, suddenly she wasn't so angry at him. She was more intrigued. She wanted to run up to him and lay on the questions, but she didn't have the energy to run, and she doubted he'd be very interested in answering her questions after she'd insulted him. Instead she merely stood in place, listening as he explained that the birds were his muse, and that he could truly understand them.
Her eyes grew wide, and her mouth fell slightly open, as she stared over at the birds. Suddenly understanding the gibberish he had yelled at her earlier. It .. really hadn't been directed at her. Great, now she just felt like an a**. A giant, jealous a**. But why was she so jealous? She could talk to the stars! THE STARS!
Nema had to physically shake herself of her own track of thought, this lion had gone from enemy to possible BFF in a span of a few minutes. Of course she couldn't think straight!
"So, you can actually speak their language? H-Have you ever tried teaching it to anyone? To see if someone other than yourself could ever try to speak with them?" She was genuinely curious, and wasn't attempting to insult him in any way. "I-I'm sorry that was rude, I don't think the muses respond to anyone other than their chosen ... do they?" Again, she didn't know. She hardly knew anything of the story behind her sudden muse discovery, other than that one day they had simply disappeared.
Nema smiled lightly, as she watched the birds fly from their hiding spots and perch upon the lion's mane. As though they knew without a doubt he wouldn't harm them. "I bet they're doing it to tease you. Because they don't seem mean, and obviously these two know you won't hurt them. Look how easily they perch on you. Any normal bird wouldn't dream of doing such a thing."
Again, she smiled, and bowed slightly at the two birds as the bluer one of the two chirped something to her new found friend. "It's nice to meet you ... um ... birds?
Sorry, I guess I don't know any of your names. My name is Nema.."
