The sun was already long set in Phonyland when Starlight magically secured her saddlebags around her middle, the pouches laden with various snacks and equipment, the most important of them being a small, beautiful looking-glass and a matching sextant. Starlight was much more energetic at night then during the day, humming quietly to herself as she turned out the lights in her house, checking off that she had everything.

“Food, yes… equipment, quill and ink… check.” The mare stepped onto her porch, door swinging shut behind her. “Parchment and lantern, check-“ Starlight was forced to halt, “Tail not stuck in door…” Her front door swung open magically, freeing her unwieldy length of tail, before quietly shutting again. “Check.”

Starlight’s chest puffed out, an uncharacteristically large smile on her face as she trotted down the lane and towards the rolling field. She had been looking forward to this night all week; it was promising to be a wonderful, clear night and not only that, she would also have some wonderful company who could also enjoy all angles of astronomy. It would be a welcome change from the endless stream of talk about cakes- not that she minded talking about cake, but it wasn’t exactly in her realm of knowledge. An evening of talking about stars and constellations with Burning Bright is just what she needed.
