Abin was sure he was forgetting something. What had he done that day? Gotten up: check. Cleaned himself: check. Helped out a couple animals in need: check. Eat: … no check.
So he’d been so busy helping out, he’d forgotten to get himself something to eat. Well, he imagined that was something he could easily make up for with a bit of hunting. It wasn’t like he was bad at catching food. It was just finding it that was the trick. Frowning, he pushed himself up from where he sat, scanning the area.
Very open. No signs of potential noms.
Slowly, he started towards a small cluster of trees, wondering if he could happen across something to eat hiding within them.

Ochieng yawned as she started to uncurl, stretching out her limbs before giving a slight squawk-like sound when she realized gravity had suddenly taken hold. Her claws came out instantly and she clung to the tree branch in great haste. Wait, tree branch?
Her nose scrunched but then she remembered... she'd wanted to try sleeping in the tree like she'd seen so many leopards do. Not her spot of shade, really. Not only were her limbs very sore she had to worry about falling out! Her tail flicked and she chuckled, getting up carefully and bounding from the tree. She wasn't too far up.
She was not expecting to crash into something so solid though. She yelped, her mind being thrown into slight chaos. With a morning starting like this she might as well go back to sleep!

Abin hadn’t been expecting an attack from the trees. Actually, he hadn’t been expecting any kind of attack. He was the hunter- he was the one who was supposed to be leaping on top of something, not the other way around. How the other lions might have laughed at him if they found out he had been the one surprised during his hunting trip.
And surprised he certainly was!
With a yelp, both in pain and shock, Abin toppled to the ground, something heavy gray on his back. With his paws splayed out in every direction, he had no immediate means of getting back to his feet. Instead, he struggled to turn his head, craning his neck to try and get a good look at the creature that had landed on top of him. What a surprise to see another lion on him. “Are you alright?’ He asked, despite being on the wrong end of a confusing situation, “I do hope you’re not trying to attack me… I don’t think you’re going about it the right way.”

She knew the creature was another lion, his mane was very fluffy! And he was very dark, but that was all she took in as she groaned. This would not help her soreness situation!
She took a few deep breathes, content to stay where she was for a moment. That was, until the male turned his head to look at her with his bright eyes. As he spoke she couldn't help but start to laugh, finding his words amusing.
She scrambled off, shifting and checking her limbs carefully, then glanced to him and grinned "No! No, I was just getting out of the tree!" She gestured upwards. "I'm fine... are you alright?"

Once she was off, Abin pushed himself to his feet, rolling his shoulders the best he could on four paws. That had certainly been a new experience- he couldn’t remember that last time someone had fallen on top of him from the trees, while not meaning to actually attack him.
Probably because it had never happened before.
“I’m fine,” he assured her, “just a little… confused? What on earth were you doing in a tree?” He looked up, as though he would find the answer without her telling him. But all he saw above were branches. Nothing particularly amazing about the canopy that a lion might want to investigate.
Weird.

She grinned at him, seeming not to be too phased at having just fallen on top of him. "I was curious to see what it was like sleeping in one of those things!" She chuckled again, shaking her head softly. "Want to know?"
She wiggled her eyebrows and her grin widened as she waited just enough time that he wouldn't be able to get an answer in. "I'll give you a hint; not that comfortable!" She laughed at this too, then shook off her pelt a little and stretched again.
"I dunno how leopards do it all of the time." She shrugged and gave a look as if to say 'that's life', and then her stomach gave a little grumble. "Ah! Oh! Hmm... you wouldn't happen to have a kill hidden around here somewhere huh?" So much easier than hunting! "Ochieng, by the way! Who're you?"

Abin laughed. What a strange sort- so bouncy and talkative. A welcome change from the usual gloom and doom he seemed to encounter. Most of the ‘rogues’ he encountered had some kind of baggage attached to them that they wore on their shoulders. Nice to see not everyone let their troubles get the better of them.
“Leopards are much smaller than we are,” he chuckled lightly, “and I suppose they’d think the same about us sleeping on the floor, wouldn’t they?” Maybe not- he supposed they slept in both places. He couldn’t only picture how she might have looked in the trees.
It did not seem the natural place to spot a lioness.
When her stomach grumbled, his did too, talking hungry with a like-minded individual. “Ah, I wish,” he hummed, “I was actually here to look for something to hunt. Perhaps you would like to lend a paw? Four eyes are better than two.” Four sets of claws wouldn’t hurt, either.
“I’m Abin. Nice to meet you.”
