Hobbies: Gardening - Frankie likes worms. And dirt. And dirt with worms in. It is, in his rather charitable opinion, the coolest thing
ever. Even at the respectable age of twelve, he loves to help his mom out in the garden on the weekends. He loves to churn up the mud between his toes, and run around in the sprinkler. Well, ok, so maybe that's not PRECISELY how gardening is supposed to go, but generally Frankie is too riled up to care.
Baseball - Frankie has graduated from t-ball and the days where most kids paid more attention to grasshoppers and the bogeys in their noses than the ball, and is now on a
very nearly real baseball team. So what if the local rec center wasn't able to get into the little league scene this year? He doesn't know better, or care, as long as he gets to have fun with his friends.
Climbing Trees- Frankie has a penchant for finding the tallest tree in his immediate proximity, and then promptly attempting to scale it. He's been lucky so far- he hasn't broken anything yet, but he's had some close calls that have his mother scolding him more often than not. She has grudgingly allowed him his habit, as 'boys will be boys', but he is limited to only trees she deems are 'safe' and only allowed to climb as high as the roof of their house.
Tutoring- Frankie is probably not the brightest crayon in the box. Unfortunately, this means he spends a lot of his out-of-school time
at school. His lack of focus means he misses a lot in class and is forced to catch up on it later. It's become so commonplace for him that he treats it more like an after school club than a tiresome chore. He always comes into the principal's office with a big grin on his face, ready to chat with his favorite teachers and swap tall tales, and enjoys the one-on-one attention that is missing from the much larger daytime classes.
Virtues: Enthusiastic - If Frankie finds something interesting, he will be its
shameless advocate. Similarly, if he is doing something he likes, he is into it one hundred and ten percent. There is no
kind of in this boy's world, no
halfway. He doesn't mean to be obnoxious, however. He just loves to express his interest as energetically as possible. This often works in his favor when he is persuaded to focus on his assignments. He doesn't care if his grin looks stupid - he just wants you to know how COOL that thing over there is, ok?
Obedient - In Frankie's house, mom's word is The Law. You don't disobey The Law unless you like scrubbing floors or sitting in corners. And really, Frankie never felt any reason to act out - he has no siblings to compete with, and his mother always doted on him. If you tell him to do something, within reason, he will follow your request to the T. He does his best to always listen to the teacher, and is the kind of kid that will read all the instructions with a new toy or game before playing with it. After all, rules were made to make life easier for everyone, right?
Honest - Frankie shall not tell a lie. Perhaps its because he's terrible at it, or perhaps because he never really understood the point of it in the first place. He learned at a young age that mom is
psychic, and that she is ALWAYS ten steps ahead of you -and applies that logic to just about everyone else. Besides, he wants to be trustworthy, and
no one can trust a liar. He values the truth, and does his best to avoid lies - even white ones - as much as possible.
Flaws: Rowdy - Sometimes Frankie's enthusiasm can, frankly, get out of hand. He often finds himself the subject of ridicule when, in his excitement, he breaks something, or messes something up. And once he's riled up, there is no telling what he will do. 'Hyperactive' doesn't quite cover it - this boy is like a bull in a china
emporium. And although he means well, and will even admit to his mistakes, it just isn't quite as good as if he'd have had the self control to not let it happen.
Tactless - Honesty is not always the best policy - a concept Frankie has a hard time grasping. Asking your teacher why her nose is shaped like that, or pointing out to a girl that her haircut looks funny aren't exactly going to make the top ten list of smooth moves. His social graces are in general deeply lacking. He is known to burst out with completely inappropriate actions or information, and it usually gets him into a heap of trouble.
Absent-minded - Although he tries his best, Frankie just can't seem to focus on more than one thing at a time. Once something's got his attention, he's oblivious to everything else. Unfortunately this is most troublesome at school, where he may get distracted by a problem or by a picture in a textbook and miss what the teacher was saying. It's not so much that he zones out as it is that he is hyperfocused: his rapt enthusiasm excluding all else from his notice save the current object of his attentions.
