Contained deep in the forests of the mountain were trees that blocked out the sun, they appeared to be as ancient as the land itself; this was her home, the land that contained the warrior race known as the Vidgís, who would engage in battle without a thought to their own safety to protect their charges from any threat aimed their way. She was the daughter of the herd’s leader Ithavoll and was to be mated with one of the strongest warriors of that Vidgís possessed. Muninn. He was a muscular stallion with a coat that was a light tan and devoid of any scars, upon his back was a brilliant set of white wings that were uncommon among their warrior ranks. Besides his muscular physique and wings, Muninn’s radiant blue eyes captured the attention of any mare or stallion that came in contact with him. There was something about his disposition which drew soquili to him, like a moth to a flame, they enjoyed the sensation they felt when he laughed, they cried when he lamented and they avoided giving him any cause to hate them; but while many wished he belonged to them, his heart only belonged to one mare and only he possessed her heart as well.
The two of them were to be lifemated during the nighttime celebration of her initiation into the ranks of the elite warriors of the Vidgís, but instead of merriment, the night was filled with death and sorrow. Muninn was one of the first to be slain, for he was the bravest warrior of them all and attempted to protect those he loved until his last breath; witnessing her love murdered caused Rin to send out a battle cry, but the creature batted her away as if she was a pesky fly. Its voice was coarse, thick with lack of use, the sounds of his words sent a shiver down the mare’s spine, “No, you will not die tonight; this celebration is in your honor, you best do to remember that!” His evil laughter echoed through the woods, stopping many of the warriors in mid attack. Her piercing green eyes glared at the creature before she proceeded with her second attack, however she was not strong enough to defeat the wicked creature and was sent flying into the nearest tree, the blood of her herd soaked the ground as her world turned to black.
Emerald eyes blinked away the tears that threatened to spill; the slaughter in the memory transpired long ago but it still caused her to feel grief at losing her love. After the attack she was revenge ridden and contained in her entire being was the perverse longing to die; she had planned to seek out the creature, which would lead to her demise. It was during the fateful day, as she made plans for her revenge that she came in contact with the wise Yggdrasil, who supported upon his back the vibrant tree of life. He gave her back her life and presented her with a new meaning of life; she swore to be his guardian and protect him as long as she lived.
Rin Asougi gave a small smile as she remembered the day she gave her oath of fealty to the tree soquili; since that day, her life was forever changed. Replacing her previous emotion, a sad smile appeared on her countenance as she remembered her fervent hopes of her love being reborn and that he was traversing the lands, unaware of the significance he had to her in his past life, but as the years progressed she had given up the hope of ever finding Muninn again, for she could no longer spend her time reminiscing on the past.
The sun shining upon her face brought her out of her inner most musings and memories; blinking from the blinding light, the Angeni continued her afternoon stroll, enjoying the wind ruffling her feathers and the privacy of her own thoughts.
