The lights in the arena went dark until the USMC Eagle, Globe and Anchor emblem appeared on the blackened titantron screen before the background appeared to burn away, leaving a field of scarlet red in its place with the words Major Devastation above and below the ensignia in gold, military-style block lettering while Warrior by Disturbed began blasting over the PA system. Once the scarlet background on the screen was revealed, the arena lighting was replaced by mood lighting in a matching shade of red, alternating with gold to the beat of the music. The Marine emerged from the tunnel with a US flag propped against his left shoulder as the lyrics to the song began, stopping in the middle of the stage to salute the crowd as fountains of red, white and blue sparks began spraying around him before he started down the ramp, zig-zagging from side to side in order to high-five some of the fans. I am now an instrument of violence I am a vessel of invincibility I cannot leave this undecided Stepping down to battle another day
Remember me for all time This determination is a vital part of me Surrender now or be counted With the endless masses that I will defeat
Come on bring it...don't sing it...better believe it
Broken down 'til your hope has died Beat down 'til victory is mine Stand up and show me some pride And now are you ready?"Now making his way to the ring, weighing in at 270 lbs., from San Antonio, Texas... Major Devastation!"I'm one with the warrior inside My dominance can't be denied Your entire world will turn Into a battlefield tonight
As I look upon you Through the warrior's eyes Now I can see the fear That will ensure my victory this timeAs he reached the side of the ring, Major handed Old Glory to the ringside attendant and performed a standing leap onto the apron before stepping between the top and middle ropes to enter the ring itself. Devastation would then begin climbing the turnbuckles and playing to the crowd while he awaited his opponent's entrance.

Rise Against -- Re: Education Through Labor
The arena went dark and multiple flashing white lights filled the stadium. The lights synced up with the bass line until the pace picked up and all the lights went on, an white pyro display going off on the stage. When it died down, Mike Landry appeared on the stage, sporting his new outfit of a white leather jacket with red trim, with matching long white tights.
To the sound of a heartbeat pounding away To the rhythm of the awful rusted machines We toss and turn but don't sleep Each breath we take makes us thieves Like causes without rebels Just talk but promise nothing else
We crawl on our knees for you Under a sky no longer blue We sweat all day long for you But we sow seeds to see us through Because sometimes dreams just don't come true We wait to reap what we are due
"Introducing first...from Seattle, Washington, weighing in at 245 lbs...He is The Innovator, MIKE LANDRY!!"
Landry stepped confidently down the ramp that evening, slapping hands with the fans at ringside. He would be representing Japan in this matchup, which he found ironic because his finisher was named "The American Neck-Tie," but that didn't matter much to him. Japan had always been wonderful to him, he had a huge fanbase there, and he was proud to put on a show for them.
Landry made his way around ringside, glad-handing the fans, thanking them for coming to support him, or their favorite performer, before making his way to the stairs and stepping up to the apron, sliding into the ring and jumping up onto the turnbuckle to hit his signature pose, winking at the camera before dismounting and facing off against Major Devastation.

When Landry was making his way out to the ring, the only thing that was running through Major Devastation's mind was 'This ought to be good'. After all, two highly decorated champions were about to square off in the main event of the evening in front of a capacity crowd.
Once Re-Education Through Labor finished playing, the Marine offered his opponent a handshake as a sign of sportsmanship and respect before the match got underway. Whether it was accepted or not, once the bell rang, it would be time to tear the house down!

Ding Ding Ding
The bell rang, signalling the beginning of the match. Major was still relatively new compared to Landry, but he still respected his many accomplishments and knew he wasn't to be taken lightly. He circled cautiously and decided to test the kid, offering a collar-elbow tie up.

Major readily accepted the lock-up, and quickly attempted to transition into an arm-wringer in hopes of getting an opportunity to indulge in a little old-school chain wrestling.

Landry, pulled into the arm-wringer, went into reflex mode. He had been put into this position so many times it was like instinct, and he grabbed for the top rope so he could execute an assisted backfliip, and then attempt to reverse into his own arm-wringer, and if it was successful he'd try to pull Major into a side headlock.

Major had to admit that Landry's display of agility when he reversed the arm wringer was impressive. This was definitely going to be a good match. The Devil Dog soon found himself in a side headlock, which he would promptly attempt to respond to with an elbow to the ribcage. If his elbow had the desired effect of loosening The Heartbreaker's grip, Devastation would look to grab Landry's arm and pop his head loose before trying to catch his opponent in a hammerlock.

The big man's elbow was enough to shake him off of the headlock. He was then transitioned into a hammerlock of his own. Landry would attempt to reverse it by ducking under Major's arm and switch it into his own Hammerlock, then if it worked, he'd try to spin Major around so he could apply a front-facelock while he kept his hamerlock in.

((Auto))
Landry's innovative maneuver is locked in, isolating Major's left arm and his neck in the hammerlock/front facelock. He would try to compound the maneuver further by reaching forward with his right leg to hook his opponent's right, trying to get him to trip up so he could bring it to a seated position and put more strain on the neck.

((Sorry about that...last few days have been nuts.))
Caught in a rather unusual predicament, being caught in a simultaneous front facelock/hammerlock, Major would try to free himself with a rather unorthodox maneuver of his own, although it would probably end up damaging himself in the process. As Landry was trying to hook his leg to further compound the hold, the Marine would aim a stomp toward the encroaching leg in hopes of getting him to withdraw it, and if successful, he would step into the hammerlock to alleviate some of the pressure before attempting to wrap his free arm around his opponent's waist before trying to deliver a modified Northern Lights Suplex.

Landry was surprised by the innovative counter. It was actually something he would try. The throw would force him to let go of the Hammerlock, but he held on to the front facelock until impact, because he had to pay attention to the referee who was now counting... "1...2..." and Landry got a shoulder up.

Major was equally surprised that, not only did his gambit work, but that Landry released the hammerlock mid-throw before the impact could cause it to tear up his rotator cuff. Too bad he was only able to keep his opponent's shoulders down for a two count when he bridged the suplex.
After rolling off of The Heartbreaker, the Marine made his way back up to his feet and cracked his neck as he rolled his shoulder to relieve some of the soreness.

Landry rolls over to his chest, still relatively fresh. He would try and grab hold of both of Major's knees and take him down, and attempt a Jacknife pin.

Seeing as how a double-leg takedown was a maneuver that Major uses fairly often himself, he immediately recognized what Landry was trying to do...and exactly what to do about it. The Marine would sprawl out to stuff the takedown attempt before looking to answer it by trying to deliver a knee strike to the face.
