Prolixity Nahm had finally located the janitor's office. House. Shack. Whatever. Either way, he'd gathered up a baggie of unidentifiable bits of something that might once have been meat to bring with him, and had even resisted snacking on the bits on the way over. He knocked politely on the door and waited. Something hit the inside of the door. It made a small but definitely organic-sounding thump, coupled with a faint creeling sound. A moment later, the door swished open and a headcrab flew at Nahm's face.
"Ooh, who's an excited widdlebiddle today? You are! You are!" Moira cooed, shuffling towards the door, two headcrabs clinging to her permanently bent back. "Oh! It's your friend! Our friend! The chief sneaker! I'm so glad you didn't die," she beamed at Nahm.

"Hey! Hey heyyyyy!" Nahm grinned and caught the headcrab, giving it a good scritching around the joints. "It's my buddy Gordon! How you been, buddy?" He beamed back at Moira. "Me too!" he agreed. "Didn't get much useful done, but it was an adventure! Gordon was really helpful. Weren't you? Ooza awesome smart critter?" he cooed at the headcrab. He fished the baggie of meaty bits out of his robe and held it up to show to Moira. "I brought your friends some treats, if they can have them," he offered.

Gordon made a weird sort of purring noise at all the attention, then launched itself at the wonderful-smelling bag. A moment later the two headcrabs on Moira's back sprang towards Nahm as well; one of them actually managed to hit the bag, and hung there for one flailing-limbed moment before losing purchase and dropping to the ground.
All three headcrabs then lifted their forelegs and waved at the tasty treat.
"Aw, aren't you a sweetie pie," Moira said, clasping her snaggle-fingered hands. "Of course they can have some - but I need to taste it first. For safety reasons. And other very important reasons. Did you bring any stake sauce?"

"Of course," Nahm said solemnly, and handed the baggie over. "I don't think I have any stake sauce. Will toebasco do?" He produced a small bottle of spicy red sauce out of another pocket. "I always carry condiments for safe eating."
"I like your tunnels," he told Moira. "Nice and peaceful down there, mostly. Reminds me of home."

"Ooh, yes - I ran out of special sauce last night. Have to go down to the dump to get more." She carefully reached for the bag, her long, snarly fingers surprisingly dextrous. "Smells good~" One of the headcrabs creeled and sprang straight up, bumping the bag with its back. "Ooh, naughty naughty! I go first, you know that, silly boys~"
A quiet munching followed.
"Just the right amount of rot, I think," the zombie sighed happily, licking her lips to clear away the last traces of toebasco sauce. "The tunnels are wonderful~ so convenient for my Trashbots, and handy for clever sneakers too." She winked at Nahm. "Here, toss some of that around. They like it when their food moves, don't you boys?"
The headcrabs bounced up and down impatiently.

"I sampled a little before I brought it. Only the best," Nahm said. He eyed the bottle of sauce, considered snacking on it, then decided against that and made the bottle vanish into his robes again. Then he grabbed a handful of meaty bits out of the bag. "Ready? Here you go! Fresh prey!" he told the headcrabs, and tossed the bits into the air. "Go get it!"
"I've got a little bot kind of like the trashbots," he said to Moira. "Not much, but it's kinda cute. Mad Science class made them. It's good for rolling over people's toes if they stand still."

The headcrabs shrieked in delight and sprang, bouncing about, sometimes bouncing into each other and sending each other flying. Eventually all the food vanished, at least. "Ooh, they're so feisty!" Moira chuckled, wiggling her fingers at them. "Silly dilly boys~"
At the mention of robotics, however, the zombie's eyes lit up. Metaphorically speaking. "Ooh, how lovely! Classes, huh? Somebody else... is teaching... a robot class..." It was hard to say if she was excited or offended by that news, honestly. It really could have gone either way. "You. You should take Trashology 101. It's the best class. For robots," she whispered, leaning in as if this were seriously confidential information. "And maybe another class. With more robots. Maybe."
Wheels were turning in Moira's head.

"They're such cuties," Nahm grinned. Soft spot for hungry little creatures? Quite possibly.
"Mad Science," Nahm answered. "Not always robots, I don't think." His eyes curved in a smile at the mention of Trashology. "I'll do that. That sounds like fun. Plenty of robots?"

"Mad science," Moira echoed, a little sadly. "I like experimenting too, you know. Not as much as building and making, but a little bit. Chemistry is just building with ingredients, right? Sort of?" Her faintly wistful gaze softened as the headcrabs started bounding back, bellies full of food. "Was that nomzy, huh?"
The headcrabs flopped down on the ground between Moira and Nahm, looking content but vaguely distended. "Mmm, now they'll be quiet boys, yes..." She looked up and gave Nahm a speculative look. "Though there's more than robots down there in the dark, you know... hmm." The gears were turning again. "Lots of stuff likes to eat trash..."

"Never thought of it like that," Nahm said, startled for a moment before his eyes sharpened with interest. "Makes sense. Gotta put it all together in the right way to get something, huh ... " He trailed off, looking far too thoughtful.
The headcrabs settled down for a rest, and Nahm returned to himself to crouch down and stroke the back of the nearest one. "Good treats, huh? Now I know what you cuties like. I'll make sure and bring you something good whenever I visit."
He looked up at Moira again, the sharp, speculative, interested expression lighting his eyes again. "All kinds of things? I wonder what I'd find if I went down there," he said, making it not quite a question.

"I bet you'd fi- oooh, no, naughty boil!" She shook one finger at him, but she was grinning. "No, no, I have to save that for... for class." She said the word with a gleeful sort of emphasis; while she didn't actually cackle in delight, the gesture would have been appropriate. "Yes, yes, it is good for bright young students to get real-world experience, isn't it? Classrooms are so yesterday..."
The nearest headcrab to Nahm (which happened to be Vance) made a quiet, soft purr and rolled slightly in the direction of the grue's touch. It was as cutesy as headcrabs got. "Oh, they like watermelon too," Moira added, absently.

"It was a good try," Nahm said, unperturbed. He grinned back at Moira. "I'll make sure and take your class, ma'am; I bet I'll learn some really good stuff."
"Aw, you're such a good boy," he crooned at Vance, ruffling the sharp little hairs on the headcrab's back. "Rotten watermelon or fresh?"
He looked back up, his eyeglows dimming slightly. "I hope I'm not interrupting important stuff," he said.

"Yes yes! You'd better!" Moira wagged a finger at Nahm in jest. "And no, no, nothing important. Just looking at some old work orders... really old. I guess they fell behind the bed, or one of the boils took them for a nest..."
There was another long pause.
"Oh! Fresh, really. Rotten gives them wind."

"Anything I can help with?" Nahm's eyes glinted interestedly. When genuine interest in a being intersected with his endless, curious snooping? He'd do a lot.
His smile shortened a bit at the mention of wind. "I'll bring them fresh," he said. "Mr. Snappy gets awful wind, know what you mean."

"Ah, no no - you'll have to wait and see, cheeky boil," Moira said cheerfully. "But watch the notice boards. Watch them carefully." She winked at him conspiratorially.
((Note: she's brainstorming for the class that already happened BUT HEY))
