Alex had been up all night.
Not like that was actually unusual for a zombie or anything. It's not like they slept or anything anyways. But Alex had literally been up all night, which was very uncommon for him.
Normally the zomboil, upon returning to his dorm room for the evening, would have grabbed a couple of books down from his shelf to sit or lay down to read all night, or gone on his lap top to surf the web. Occasionally he might have even gone out hunting. Instead, he found himself pacing the floor of his more then a little messy bedroom, kicking trash around with his feet. Once in a while, a paper would get skewered on one of his skeletal toes, and he would have to reach down to pluck it off before continuing in this walk.
He would glare around his room, wondering where the heck his little trashbot was, or why it wasn't doing it's job, but those thoughts would quickly vanish in the sea of many that were drowning out everything else. All he could think about was the date he had just been on, how great it had been, then how badly it had ended, and why it had ended so badly. Alex was finally coming to grips with something that he couldn't control, feelings that he had that he at first thought couldn't possibly be real. He was trying to decide how he was supposed to deal with it, and it was driving the poor boil crazy.
Eventually, as the night began to end and most students would likely be starting to rise out of their beds, he had made his decision. He would not act on his feelings, because he would not ruin what he already had by doing so.
With that thought firmly in mind, he grabbed his backpack and his skateboard, and opened the door to leave his room.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First thing he did was go to the gym. He was looking for Yin and the weremantis trained every morning as far as Alex was aware. But not today, as it turned out. He peeked inside the room only to find it devoid of any green antennae monsters, and frowned in frustration as he turned and left.
If Yin wasn't in the gym, then where was he? There was only one thing he could think to do at this point, and that was to camp out in front of the monster dorms until Yin either came out or returned from where ever he was.
And so now here he was, sitting crosslegged on the ground, resting his head in his hands and his elbows on his legs, in front of the monster dorms. He would wait here all day if he had to. He was determined to see his friend at some point, and he wasn't going to move until he did.

Yǐn Cáng was in a wonderful morning. Yes, he had not done his typical exercises, but he had ran to the maul, and the walk back had not been at a painfully slow pace for him. He was blissfully unaware that he may have scarred a certain reaper boil beyond repair, and he was bringing home something that he felt certain Princess Eva would approve of. She would also likely be surprised, and quite frankly it would be odd to see an actual object in his room.
Walking toward the monster dorms he briefly toyed with the idea of shifting into his natural form (no one was around after all), and climbing up to his room. It would be good exercise, and he never bothered to lock his window. It was not until he remembered the bag looped over his wrist that he decided against the idea. He would simply have to go through the doors of the building the normal way, and then after giving Princess Eva her present he probably needed to head to the gymnasium. It had been full days since he'd had an actual spar, and he rather needed to get his full workout in.
He was beginning to near the building when he noticed something oddly white near the entrance of the monster dorms. Immediately his brain supplied him with a mental image of Alexander, but he shrugged it off, feeling fairly certain that it would not be the zomboil. Yes, they had made up at the festival. But since then they had not seen each other, and there was still that worry in the back of his mind that tauntingly told him that the zomboil was avoiding him.
So he got a pleasant surprise when he drew near enough to see that it actually was the zomboil in question. He could not help a small, lopsided smile from creeping onto his face and he broke into a jog. "Alexander!"

Alex had been completely zoned out, shifting so that only one hand was propping up his head now while the fingers of his other began picking at strands of grass on the ground. He'd been waiting a fairly long time now, with nothing at all to keep himself entertained with.
He was soooooo bored.
Anybody could have probably walked by him at this point and he wouldn't have even noticed, so it was probably lucky that Yin had spotted him and yelled out his name. His head jerked up as he blinked his grey-white eyes, focusing on the weremantis as he jogged forward. His chest felt warm as he watched his friend approach with a smile on his face. It made him happy to see the other boil happy, especially since it meant that things were ok between the two of them.
He felt bad that he hadn't seen or made the effort to get in touch with Yin since the festival, but he was making the effort now.
He pushed himself to his feet, nearly falling back to the ground as his silly leg gave out after having been sitting bent for a prolonged period of time, but managing to catch himself with a hand and more carefully push himself up again.
Stupid leg!
"Hey!" He grinned as the weremantis approached. "You know, you really need a phone or something, you can be hard to find sometimes." He joked, though realizing a little too late that it might bring back memories of the last time Alex had been looking for Yin and not able to find him.
"So I..uh..I had a date with Michi last night." He looked down at the ground, feeling slightly awkward and beginning to scuffle his left foot into the dirt. He didn't know why he decided to bring that up.

Alexander seriously needed to train more for his coordination. Yin pushed the thought out of his mind for the time being, and mentally waved off the idea of a phone. Phones surely cost money, and he had made do without one for a long time. And really, other than Alexander and Ulmuka he would not likely have anyone to call. Unless some of his other friends used them as well.
He was about to say as much when Alexander out of the blue began telling him that he had had a date. Michi? Is that not the name of the ghoul from the festival? Well, they had been rather close, and Alexander had been putting his hands all over her. He had no idea why his smile faltered, just like he had no idea why the boil was telling him about his date.
Except for the obvious. "Oh...um...I must offer my congratulations then. May I be so bold as to presume that I may attend the ceremony? I could help set things up of course..."

Alex blinked at the ground that he was suddenly so interested in, and looked back up to Yin, raising an eyebrow. "Ceremony? Wait, what? Oh!" Well crap, that hadn't exactly been the reaction Alex had been expecting, if he had expected any reaction at all. "Nononono, see, it was just a date..ummmm..." how was he supposed to explain this? How would Yin understand.
"She didn't choose me or anything, and I don't think she will." At least, not now that Alex had basically run away from her. "Things just didn't..turn out very well. It was totally my own fault. She's a really sweet ghoul and all, and very pretty, but uh..just not my type I guess." He shrugged, realizing that he was rambling a little bit.
You are acting like an idiot, and digging yourself a fresh grave to jump into. Just tell him why you are here!
"So anyways, we went to the maul last night, and well I bought something for yo---" No, wait. He hadn't bought anything for Yin, he had to remember that, what he bought was for Yin's pet. "Um, I mean, I bought something for Princess Eva." He smiled, "I understand if you don't want me to see your room, so I could give it to you here, and you could give it to her from me?" Jack knew Alex didn't want anybody coming into his own room ever, so he could respect it if Yin felt the same way.

Yin had to remind himself that under present circumstances Alexander was not an incredibly...loose...boil, but that maybe this whole dating without being bonded was normal. If Alexander had not been talking so much, again (the zomboil seemed to have quite a bit to say today), Yin might have questioned what he could have possibly done to cause it to end so badly. Oh. He had taken her to the maul. "Oh you should not have...for Princess Eva?" Almost instantaneously the protests had died to be replaced with a look of adoration. "You should not have spent your money on her, but I am certain that she will be most pleased. I actually went down to the maul this morning to get her something. If you are willing to you should come inside with me and give it to her yourself. She will probably love to meet you and I do not mind if you know where my room is." He was actually bouncing up and down a little on the balls of his feet, eyes shining like a scareling's on Halloween.

Alex watched Yin's reaction with a faint amount of amusement in his eyes and he could barely contain his laughter when Yin started getting happy and excited over something so small. The guy must really really like this pet of his, and Alex was more and more curious to see her. Though he was already mentally reminding himself not to breathe when he got to Yin's room. He had already eyed up the pet he'd bought for Michi for dinner, he didn't need to do the same thing to Yin's pet as well.
"I'd be happy to give it to her myself." He said, this time chuckling a little. Yin's enthusiasm was contagious and was oddly making Alex feel excited about the whole thing as well.
And so, he grabbed his back pack off of the ground and slung it over his shoulder. The gift was still sticking out a bit since it wouldn't completely fit but he wasn't too worried about that. He then picked up his skateboard, which had been sitting next to him on the ground and began making his way towards the dorm entrance, fairly confident that Yin would leap out in front of him any second to open the door and lead the way.

Yin was a good Asian-based kid, he did not disappoint. Rather, he moved at a completely normal pace to pass Alexander and open the door before entering behind him, quickly catching up so he was a half-pace ahead of the other boil to guide him through the maze of the monster dorms. Down this hallway, down that one, up the stairs (he may have pretended to drop something so he could head back down them and come back up rather than wait the entire time it took Alexander to go up them), down this hallway, zig and then zag, left, left, left, right, left, left. And suddenly they were there. Standing there, facing his door he felt rather...cheerful. Princess Eva was going to be so excited. "Well, this is it," he told Alexander happily as he opened the door to step in. ------------------------------------ Princess Eva could hear her boil outside of the door. It was strange for him to talk in the hallway, but that was certainly him. She hurried to go sit in her customary place, tails arranged just so and head tilted slightly to the side as she waited. Then her nose wrinkled in disgust. Even through the door she could smell that despicable boil's smell. He had seen that creature? Again? At least there was no heavy scent of blood accompanying him, but there was a slight metallic tang to the air and with that awful rotted meat stench she could barely tell if he was injured. She emitted a slight whine of distress as the door opened and her boil came in, walking on his own and not looking too injured. She yipped happily and then froze. That thing was with him. She stared at him. She should bite him. She should. But he probably tasted awful. So instead she stood up, walked several paces away, and sat down, her back to both of them, tails flicking angrily. "Princess Eva?" She flicked an ear back at her boil's worried tone, but refused to budge. "I must apologize, I have never seen her act like this."

Alex had followed along happily, and would have used his skateboard to help move along faster, but wasn't sure how far it would be or if there would be any stairs involved (and what do you know, there were!) so he kept it firmly tucked under one arm. It seemed that Yin's room was actually quite a long way in, and the maze of hallways was confusing but if Yin had looked back he might have noticed that Alex had pulled out his phone and was actually mapping their progress.
Not weird at all!
Eventually they were stood in front of Yin's door and Alex was still smiling happily, for some reason eagerly anticipating getting to see where Yin actually stayed, and excited to meet this pet of his that he spoke about so fondly.
Then Yin was pushing through the door, and Alex was following him inside, eyes taking in everything in the room, which really wasn't much to look at, honestly, and then falling on the little multi-tailed fluffy creature that was...staring at him...in a very offputting way...
"Uhhh, Yin?" he said quietly, as he watched her stand up and walk away, sitting down so that her back was facing them. "I..uh..don't think she likes me very much." He mumbled.
It was one thing for people to treat him poorly because he was a zombie, it was another thing entirely for his best friends pet of all things to do the same. Maybe she just had a really good sense of smell? That was a fairly plausible reason for her to have turned her nose up at him so quickly.
But he wouldn't give up so easily, oh no! Instead, he slid the back pack from his shoulder down his arm to his hand and gripped the strap. He continued to watch the little rabo as he unzipped his backpack and pulled out the gift therein. Clearing his throat, he spoke, trying to sound as friendly and non-threatening as possible, and bending down to the floor, crept forward towards the little animal slowly and carefully.
"Hi Princess Eva! I'm Alexander.." This felt awfully silly, but Alex had his own pets back in his dorm that he often spoke to like people. This wasn't really any different then that, right? "I..uh..brought you something?" he gently placed the stand, which still had both bowls in it, on the floor, as close to her as she would allow him, before backing up and straightening up again with a small frown.

Yin frowned. Surely Princess Eva would not pass judgment so quickly? But what if it was true? And the two would never get along? The thought was heartbreaking. He watched as Alexander reached into his backpack and pulled out something. Something that sparkled and glowed, a look of confusion on Yin's face. A look that quickly turned one one of pure delight. "Those were the dishes I was going to get for her!" he exclaimed delightedly. He knelt down next to Alexander before trying to coax Princess Eva into turning around. "Now Princess Eva, Alexander has brought you a very nice gift. Do you not think that you should come over here and at least greet him?"The rabo in questioned turned and passed her eye over the food bowls. They actually seemed fairly acceptable. She thought about it for a long moment before finally she stood and turned to sniff at them, eyeing Alexander the entire time. Then she quite pointedly walked over to Alexander, sniffed him, then walked back to Yin, climbed into his lap, and pawed at his chest before turning her head to glower at Alexander. She had not forgotten who this boil was.

Alex appreciated Yin getting down on the floor next to him. It made him feel far less silly and like he was possibly doing the right thing so far. "Oh?" He answered, smiling warmly. "I just remembered you looking at this stuff when we were at the pet shop..actually, come to think of it, this was the last set there." He was watching the rabo intently, waiting to see if she would possibly come around and possibly give Alex a chance.
When she turned around and looked at the bowls, his heart lifted a bit. This was good! She wasn't completely snubbing the gift! But she was still giving Alexander that incredibly offputting look that made him feel like he was really not welcome in this room, and it made him shrink back a bit.
Seriously, this was a little bit ridiculous. A six foot one killing machine shrinking away from a tiny ball of muli-tailed fluff? Absurd.
He kept his eyes on her when she walked over and sniffed him, quite tempted to reach out and attempt to pet her, but also a little afraid that she might try and bite him or something. She didn't stick around long anyways before making her way over to Yin and pawing at his chest, then turning to actually glower at Alex.
Oh.
"Ya, I'm gonna say she really doesn't like me, Yin." His chest was starting to hurt a little bit, and his face looked completely crestfallen. She knew what he had done, somehow she knew! This was some kind of super intelligent furry being.

The boil looked properly cowed and Princess Eva finally relented the tiniest bit. She purred and rubbed against Yin for a moment before jumping down, landing lightly, and barely touched Alexander's hand with her paw. She was in control of this situation thank you very much, and while she had certainly not forgiven the zomboil she was willing to be the rather magnanimous creature that she was and grant him her tolerance.
Plus it meant that her boil, who had been beginning to look upset, was perking back up again.
"I think she just needed a little bit of time to get used to you Alexander. I have not had anyone else here, so she may have not appreciated the intrusion. If I had known you were coming I would have warned her ahead of time." Almost belatedly he remembered his own gift for her and pulled the bag off of his wrist. "And I acquired a brush for you Princess Eva." He glanced over at Alexander and explained. "I found an envelope at the festival and no one claimed it, so I decided to get something for her with the money."

Alex had been pretty thoroughly convinced that the little rabo hated him, so it was with some amount of surprise that she approached Alex once again, this time touching his hand with one furry paw, and he smiled at her gratefully.
"Ya, maybe that's all it was." But he didn't think so. The way she had pawed at Yin's chest and than given him that look. She knew! She must have known! But how? From scent alone? It was really a rather curious thing, one that Alex wished to know more about.
Alex was somewhat surprised with Yin having also bought a gift for Princess Eva, but not too much. After all, the boil had said he'd been to the maul this morning and that he had been intending on buying the dish set that Alex had picked up the night before. It stood to reason that the other boil would have bought her something else when the dish set was no longer available.
Alex hadn't even thought about Yin not having the money for such a purchase until he actually said something about it. "Oh? Well that's great, Yin! And really very nice of you to buy something for somebody else and not for yourself." He smiled at the weremantis warmly. This was just one of the many reasons that Alex liked him, and liked being around him
He hoped he never screwed things up between them again like he had before.
"So, there was another reason I was waiting for you today...I just wanted to make sure you were still planning on coming with me to see my family. It's coming up fairly soon now, and I wasn't sure..." if you still wanted to come after what I did. "if you were still available to join me" He gave the other boil a smaller smile now.

"You...still want me to accompany you?" The mantodae boil sounded by hesitant and surprised at the question, but inwardly he was more than a little happy. If the zomboil still wished for him to join him than things truly had gone back to normal, which he desperately wanted.
Or he would make a good midnight snack.
But his brains were not developed enough for that anyway. Princess Eva had come back over so he moved until he was sitting criss-cross applesauce and let her settled on his lap before he began to brush her. "I believe I would enjoy that very much." He looked up and eyed the zomboil for a minute, a thoughtful expression on his face. "But initially you failed to inform me about your sisters. Of which you have three." His tone had a bit of accusation to it and Princess Eva lifted up her head to add her own look to the mixture, clearly demanding that the zomboil explain himself.

Alex's smile nearly split his face in two when Yin confirmed that he would still like to go. He had been so worried that the weremantis might decide against it after what had happened. This was really turning out to be a much better day after a really horrible night.
Oh wait, what had Yin just said?
"Uhhhhhhhhhh..." Oh dear...that little fluffy multi-tailed thing was staring at him again and his brain was going blank. "Well, that was the other thing I wanted to talk to you about." Nice save, Alex. His brain fired back to life as he tried to think of how Yin could have possibly found that information out. The only other person he had told was...MORT!
So much for bein zombie bros. Thanks a lot, buddy.
"So ya, I have three sisters, and a mom of course. I thought you also might like to know that I have 4 aunties and 14 female cousins that might also stop by..." his voice was getting more and more apprehensive as he went on. "But really Yin, they are completely harmless! The only ones I might even worry about are my twin sisters. They..uh..they're...just stay away from them, and you'll be fine, ok? And I'll be there of course and I won't let them even come near you!" Ok, he went from apprehensive to quite adamant in a matter of moments.
He realized that this wasn't exactly the best way to win Yin over into coming with him for the weekend, but at the same time he was worried if he didn't say anything now and then they got to the house, Yin would resent him for not telling the entire truth right away.
"I understand if you want to change your mind now but..my mom was really really excited that I would be bringing a friend home, and actually more upset then I thought she would be when I told her I didn't think you would be coming anymore. Apparently she cleaned up my room for you to stay in, put a new bed in there, and got a heater installed so you could be warm." he had actually been a little bit speechless when his mother had told him all of this over the phone. Not only because of how much work she had put in to getting things ready for Yin's arrival, but because she had actually messed with Alex's room.
