This part of the city wasn't Sailor Nyx's territory, but tonight that was the point of her wanderings. She knew the city as well as someone who lived in its suburbs most of their life, which was to say not well enough, she felt, for her new occupation. The senshi of phantasmagoria did not have a patrol route, nor did she have a concept of one as most of the active senshi did. Rather, she would duck out at night whenever the opportunity afforded it and take the first bus that arrived to the first stop and settle in there. This method usually produced the same two locations -- anxiousness and curiosity put her on this route tonight. Since the battle in the Surrounding, Nyx had become wary of calm and solitude.

Nonetheless, she managed to jump pretty far when the cyan and maroon senshi called out. She faced her 'opponent,' throwing something together in a breath's time that resembled a defensive stance, before realizing that the voice was attached to a sailor soldier like herself. Well, almost. The colors and tattered, imposing design set her apart in Nyx's mind; together with the odd greeting, it made her hesitant to drop her defense.

"Is... there something wrong?" she asked back, stealing glances around the gray landscape in search of something out of place -- which wasn't very easy with the lack of familiarity and all.

"Nyx," she said, a little too curtly. She was still a little on edge after the other senshi's (Sailor Kallichore... she would have to write it down later in her notebook) dynamic entry. However, the girl's words were kind, her signature not tainted with chaos, at least as far as she could detect. The sight of the white, fluffy buttwings were what did her in. Eternal Sailor Maia had those, too.

"Sorry," Nyx apologized, lowering her defense (though not dropping it) and running a hand through her hair. "Sailor Nyx, senshi of phantasmagoria." May as well get that bit out of the way. "And I probably need practice at everything. This isn't my usual route either, but... I also don't have much of a 'route,' yet." She felt a little like a fluke again -- as thought these phenomenal cosmic powers were trying to give her a crash course, but she accidentally slept through some of the classes. Maybe it would be nice to have an eternal with her for a night. Why wouldn't they group together?

Oh yeah.

"Is that really safe, to patrol together?" Senshi banding up had gained a bad connotation since the City Hall meeting.

Her spirits lifted cautiously, a combination of the other senshi's continued kindness and not being pounced upon by Negaverse agents the moment their signatures came together. At least, not yet. It felt a bit strange to be calm when another fuku came around. She hadn't really met other senshi yet -- not really, in a way where you might know the other senshi's name and powers. Fought alongside them, dragged civilians from fires with them, depended on them (as much as it pained her), but not really gotten to know them. Pasiphae didn't count. Pasiphae was Pene and counting a friend she knew before powering up felt like cheating. It was... kind of a relief that she didn't get a look when she told Kallichore her sphere.

Despite herself, Nyx watched with awe as Kallichore lept deftly to the bus stop perch. She watched her ease, confidence, and feathery wings that she had learned went hand-in-hand with experience. What she was saying about their signatures being low enough made sense and the first level senshi really wanted it to be true. A bit of warmth sparked in her chest at the rekindled idea of comraderie in this crazy magical space war.

Madness? Kallichore's sphere was certainly surprising! The fuku made more sense, though, even down to the ribbon-mimicking belts. "There's a senshi like me," Nyx thought excitedly. Sure, Pasi's sphere wasn't -- how did she put it? -- "kittens and bubbles and butterflies," but it also wasn't the same.

"Yeah, I've used them before! They, erm..." Truth be told, Nyx had been kinda disappointed to find out that her powers weren't a torrent of something more physical, like other senshi she had seen... and she didn't know how 'madness' operated, either. If there was ever a time to share, though, it was here.

"I hear it's scary," grinning, she started off simply. "When I pick someone out, a shadowy creature forms up and stalks them. I don't find it all that bad, but the bad guys get a bit shaken up for awhile." A slight pause. "It's probably best if I don't actually show you. Likewise, I'm willing to bet?"

Kallichore was either being very kind or Nyx was getting better at bluffing. Probably the former, given the situation. The other senshi was so comfortable in her own sphere that Nyx could entertain that this sort of thing could possibly work. After all, a senshi of madness had not only lasted this long, but flourished.

"No, no special title yet. And no disrespect taken." She turned partially to the side to show her plain, brown buttbow in emphasis. Nyx knew her place. "It feels strange to call myself new, after everything I've seen. I was... woken up, I believe is the phrase, in battle. I've seen a Negaverse general snap a lady's neck at a town hall meeting. I've seen... whatever that was, in space. But I'm still sorting everything out," she concluded with a weak laugh. "I've sorta been avoiding other senshi lately, though. It seems like whenever we get together, only trouble shows up to meet us."

Nyx smirked at Kallichore's down-to-earth, in a matter of speaking, attitude. It was welcome after all of the lofty the fate of the world depends on you talk. There had been those who were welcoming and warm, such as Sailor Polaris, but none were quite on the level. She appreciated that. (And just maybe the bit of understanding offered.) In fact, it was turning out that meeting Kallichore was a lot of what she needed right then. For the moment where she followed the senshi of madness' gaze up to the heavens, she remembered how they all came together to defeat the chaos beast. Hope.

Nyx considered the options. The last time she did any training, she ultimately got her bum handed to her; she needed to impress this one.

"Joining a proper patrol sounds good. Is this your... route.." the question lost focus, her mind distracted by a p***k of chaos energy. Preparing to bolt, momentarily convinced of another ambush, her body tensed. No, no, it felt more like a youma... All the same, she looked to Kallichore for confirmation.

"Are you willing to attack it?"

The question was unexpected. Since the beginning, Nyx had felt it was implicit with the blooming of her starseed that she fight chaos monsters. It was a duty she shouldered with the highs and lows, but it had brought with it a weariness at the core. No one had really asked.

But, now that someone had -- this Kallichore senshi, who, for all that her sphere of madness represented, seemed rather grounded -- it was a different story. Brown eyes lit up; her lack of wing mantel was stuffed aside. It was practically a challenge in her mind. The eternal's confirmation of the youma's signature stats was icing on the cake.

"I see what you did there," Nyx said, a good-natured smirk softening her face at Kallichore pointing out their numbers. Okay, so maybe groups could be nice sometimes. If you weren't on the receiving end. "Let's dust this thing so hard an agent feels it."

Nyx pushed her own speed and roof jumping abilities, just to the point where she wouldn't get sloppy. (A bit of wobbling didn't count.) The first level senshi knew that she couldn't match an eternal, yet that didn't mean she would let herself take it easy. On the horizon, stars twinkled among skyscrapers -- but Nyx was more intent on the darker city streets, lit in intervals with their own little stars in the form of streetlamps. The youma's signature was getting stronger as they tracked it.

"There," Nyx said simply when she was sure they were in throwing distance. Perched on a building's ledge, brown eyes scanned the area for the chaos creature -- it had taken them to a small strip shopping center. While she counted it a lucky stroke that foot traffic was low tonight, she also couldn't spot their target. Nyx lept down to street level for a closer look, her heels making a soft click in the quiet air as they hit the concrete. There was only an odd, yellow and polka-dotted box in the parking lot... WHOA!



With a screech, it began launching blue and red spiked balls, their pins so fine that it looked very close to an innocent rubber puffer ball.
