Lesath was excited to meet with Acubens again tonight. She wanted to tell her all about the room that she had prepared for the girl, for when she finally made the choice to join them. She was also excited to show off. She was stronger now, a Super Senshi, just like Remarque was, and she was very proud of this fact. She hadn’t shown anyone yet, none but that pretty cat that had helped her attain this, so she was excited to show off to her wayward senshi friend.
It was chilly, and the senshi hugged the small stuffed velociraptor that she had brought with her, as a promise of what the room would have. She shivered as a cold wind blew around her and tried to pull the fabric which now very much resembled moth wings around her a bit closer, hoping to use them to keep in some warmth.
Maybe Acubens would even consent to joining them tonight, and the two could go home together…that would be nice. She was sure the other girl would completely adore her new living space, and really couldn’t wait to tell her all about it.

There was a darkness around Acubens tonight. Not just because she detested the cold, but for different reasons. Deeper reasons. As the snow reached up to her knees, she trudged on, thinking over and over what she would tell the dark mirror senshi when she got there. This was not going to end any other way. Acubens found herself shaking from something other than cold as she anticipated Lesath's reaction. It would not be pleasent. There would be tears, she knew, for the older senshi so longed for Acubens to join her team. And anger, she would feel betrayed. But... Lesath had said that she would love Acubens no matter her choise.
That was all that kept her moving forward.
Her cornrows clicked and whipped her face in the wind, but Acubens didn't register them. She saw Lesath through the snow and darkness. Turn around. Send her a message telling her you got sick. Anything but this. OH god, what was she holding? Lesath was trying to kill her, Acubens just knew it. Acubens laused to regain her composure. Lesath promised her. She promised that she'd support her decisions. No matter what they were.
She took a deep breath and ventured forward. Alright, no more time to dawdle. She stepped loudly into view of Lesath, teeth chattering in the cold. "Hey there baby," she cooed, forcing a smile. "I've... I've got some news!" Stay cheerful, stay happy...

Lesath’s eyes lit up as she saw Acubens, and she at once reached out, drawing the girl close. “You do? I do too, may I go first though?” When she drew away from the hug, she laughed, twirling in place. “I’m a super senshi now—isn’t that great?”
She wanted to show off, and was very happy to have the chance. The new outfit just…was beautiful. She loved how she looked as though she had moth wings, it added a wonderful effect as she jumped off of buildings and the like. And the mirrorwalking! It was…so much easier. Completely wonderful, and almost…enjoyable. Lesath let out a little laugh, in such a good mood.
“That’s not all though, also…” She held out the stuffed animal. “I finished decorating your room, little dino. It’s wonderful, perfect, and you’re going to absolutely love it. I went shopping everywhere and found all sorts of dinosaur toys, and a really awesome bedspread, and I told my parents that a friend might come to live at our place, and they said it was all okay, so…everything’s ready for you to move in. For us to really become sisters.”
She was beaming, completely sure that Acuben’s news was going to be that she was ready to join the Dark Mirror court. It was all Lesath could do not to pull out her compact and call Ares.

Yup. Lesath was trying to kill her. Acubens was convinced now, that this girl's only calling in life was to shatter Acubens' heart. She rubbed her chest, as though trying to feel the break out and mend it with her hands. Smile. Smile Acubens. But oh god, there was that name again. Little Dino. Acubens carefully took the stuffed velociraptor and gently stroked the long neck. Yup. Lesath was trying to kill her. She sniffed loudly and looked up at the sky, trying to use the cold air to sooth her hot eyes. The only reason she wasn't trying harder to hide her tears was that Lesath already knew that she cried at everything. This would be no surprise.
"You look," she almost choked on her words, "God, you look beautiful. You always do, Moth Momma. So beautiful. And I love your hair. Short hair it... it suits you, makes you look so... sporty." Real sentiments, spoke through quivering lips. "I'm so proud of you. So strong, so beautiful. Like a goddess. My goddess." She stroked Lesath's face and hair. Acubens took a deep breath and tucked the raptor up under her arm, taking Lesath's hands.
"Do you remember, a while ago, when you brought Leto to meet me, and I told you I was watching God?" Easy... easy... keep your voice steady, your words clear. "That day, something, I don't know what, clicked inside of me. I didn't have the answers I needed, but I had the tools to find it. It was sort of like," oh god, what was that genius analogy? "Sort of like when I was awakened, someone told me there was a fossil under my feet. All I could do was trust them and that was it. I had no way of knowing, no way of finding out for sure. But then, that day, it was like someone gave me digging tools. Brushes, shovels, everything I needed." Clear... steady... Concentrate Acubens. "And then, as I started digging, I realized that I couldn't find that fossil alone. But that was okay, because other people had heard about of fossil, and came to help me. They brought thier own tools and we worked together."
Acubens had to take a deep breath. What was she even saying? "When Laoise awakened me she told me about a war, but I had to trust her. I had no way of knowing, so I just... floundered. But, that night, something happened and I stopped panicking, and I knew everything was okay. Not long after that, I meet some other senshi." Acubens turned Lesath's hands over in her own, inspecting the grain of her palms. She looked back up into Lesath's eyes, watching them closley. Memorizing her face, right now, at this moment. Happy, hopeful. And Acubens was about to kill that. Without mercy. Without hesitation. Like a guillotine, quick as possible.
"Other senshi who are just as lost as I am. And then... Lesath, I fell in love. A beautiful girl, and she's so pretty, and nice, and smart. And... she needs me. My new team needs me. I need to figure out who Acubens was, visit that planet again, find out her past... maybe it's my apst, I don't know. But..." She pushed both of Lesath's hands into her own, holding them tight. "I have so much work to do here, in the White Moon Court. Maybe someday... I can join you but... oh god not this one. Not now." And she was done. When had she begun crying so heavily? She couldn't recall ever increasing her tears. "Lesath...Momma... you understand... right? You still love me... right?" Oh god, please say yes. Please, for the love of all that is good and true in this world tell me that you still love me.

Lesath held her smile through most of Acuben’s little speech. Most of it. The smile began to fade when she mentioned meeting with the other senshi, then had completely gone when she mentioned finding some girl that she loved. Some…some stupid girl. She listened to this long winded speech about…something stupid and ridiculous, and it all boiled down to…
To no. To a refusal to be with her, a refusal to join her family, to come be her sister, to…
To belong. The senshi’s temper flared and she drew in a deep breath, letting her teal eyes close. And she had the gall to ask if Lesath still cared about her. If she understood. This whole thing was laughable. Completely laughable.
Though…if this was the real case, why did the senshi feel like crying. Or screaming. Either one of the choices seemed possible. She opened her eyes again, looking at the other crying senshi with a look that suggested she was made of poop. “You tell me this…and yet you expect me to still love you? Are you mad?”
Her voice was soft, almost deadly so. Her hand reached out, clutching the stuffed animals head, drawing it away from Acubens. She didn’t deserve this. This was for her sister, the one who was going to come live with her, in the room she had spent so long in decorating. Not some…twit who…
Her hands were twisting around the stuffed animal, pulling. Very soon, the sound of seams ripping could be heard, and the head of the dinosaur popped off in Lesath’s hand. She looked up to Acubens again, hatred in her eyes. “How dare you. How DARE you think I’d still care about you. You can’t just break someone’s heart and expect them to still hold feelings for you.” The head of the raptor was thrown at Acubens and Lesath turned away. “Get out of my sight you b***h.”

It would have been easier to deal with Lesath if she was yelling. Acubens could handle yelling. It was the deadly softness in her voice that ripped her apart from the inside out. A wail of anguish ripped at her throat, but refyued to be vocalized as Acubens parted her lips for it. God no. Oh god, please no. Don't... don't say that. No, love me. You promised. Her lips formed the words, but she could not find her voice. Where had it gone? Scared into hiding by the suddenly very real idea that Lesath was leaving her. I am you sister. You sister beyond the mirror. Can't our love span the gap of Chaos and Order? The feeble barrier of treated glass? Oh god, tell me I did not love you for this. Tell me that I did not fall so deeply for you only to die because of you.
And she made that sound?
It took Acubens a moment to realize that Lesath had ripped the toy from her arms and beheaded it. Acubens watched the stuffing fall to the ground, absorbed by the snow and becoming the same fluffy whiteness as it's surroundings. Another metaphor damned for the moment. The toy didn't matter. For all of the symbolism it held, the stupid toy didn't matter to Acubens. Not now, anyways. If Lesath didn't make off with it's tattered remains later, she'd treasure it for sure.
Acubens fell to her knees, gagging on her own voice to try and force it to work for her. Don't fail me now when I need you the most.
"Lesath," she voice broke against the name, hands clutching the flesh over her own heart. "Oh god, Lesath, please, please forgive me. I can't... I won't live without you like this." She reached out a hand for the gossamer viel of her fuku, fingers clutching the delicate frabric like a child does the skirts of the mother. "You promised me that you'd understand my decisions. Back when we met." Acubens had no idea she had that many tears. They flowed, endlesly, upon her face.
The worst part... the absolutle worst part, was that whatever Lesath would do to her, whatever abuse she would commit... Acubens would forgive her. It was a sister's duty.

The blonde curled both hands into fists, holding onto the body of the stupid dinosaur, then throwing it to the ground. “Forgive you? Forgive you for what? For getting my hopes up, and tearing them to shreds?” She turned around, pulling her cloth wings out of the other senshi’s grip. “Don’t you dare touch me, don’t look at me, and don’t think you’re worthy of even speaking my name.”
Her voice was soft again, though gave a small crack in the middle of her sentence. “How…how dare you…I really…” She felt like an absolute failure. She had put all of her hopes in this one…stupid, useless White Moon senshi. And look where that had gotten her. She shook her head, clearing her throat, disgusted that it had begun to close up with some stupid, useless emotion. “None of you stupid fools deserve to be saved. I suppose I know that now. Thank you for helping me to understand that.”
She glared at the girl making a fool of herself by crying. How…stupid could you be. “You will never be welcomed into the Dark Mirror Court. I don’t want you there, and I’ll make sure none of my family will want you either. Congratulations. You’ve just made yourself a hell of a lot of enemies.” Lesath knew she was being cruel…but…what else could she do. The super senshi cleared her throat once more, then bolted, heading for the nearest mirror and diving into it, remaining in mirrorspace for a few hours, letting out her anger in her own set of hot tears.

All Acubens could do was listen. Just... listen. The very first people who had ever shown her any kindness in this war... and now she was losing them. This couldn't be happening. Lesath... she promised. She... oh god. The fingers that had so previously been cinging to the wings of Lesath's fuku now clutched air. Come back. Her voice had left her again. Her throat felt so dry, like she hadn't drunk anything in days. Acubens swallowed several time, but with no relief. It was like in those dreams where you drink and you drink, but you can't quench your thirst. Come back... I'm so... I'm sorry. Please understand. Oh god.
And yet, for all of her silent begging, Acubens knew she deserved what had become of her. She knew that what transpired was the consequence of denying where she belonged. Oh, how she wanted to run to that mirror and beg for Lesath to take her. No, I change my mind. Make me your sister, take me to the Queen and have her corrupt me. Make me dark and black and yours, god I love you. Love me again as well.
And Keren's face flashed into Acubens' mind at that moment. She loved her. She would tell her someday soon. Valentines day, perhaps. Yes, that sounded nice. She would tell Keren that she loved her with all of her heart and that she could not spend another day without her knowing. It soothed some of the ache in Acubens' heart. The only woman she could ever love more than Lesath.
Acubens gathered the remnants of the toy in her arms. It would need to be mended. Probably restuffed. Acubens would do all that she could to help. It was all she had left of Lesath now.
Acubens' legs were quaking under her as she stood, turning to follow the path she'd arrived by. "In every mirror," she said over her shoulder, "in every room, everywhere... I will look for you. Know that, Lesath."
