Girltime, girltime, girltime... thump.
Cass had nearly walked right into one of the pods that was right in front of her as she blindly navigated around with nothing but her weapon telling her where the ******** she was going. It had probably been hilarious to see, but never the less, Cass had made a point to extend an invitation to one of the newbies - Ofelia..Ofie... to come play with her out in the Deathsweeper course before coming down to this room.
Because there would be golems. As it stood, everybody sort of needed to get a taste for the golems, and it would be good practice.
Maybe even good bonding for the sun hunter to watch her blow herself up. It couldn't have hurt more than nearly being crushed to death by Conquest, but never the less, sitting inside of one of the pods with the door ajar, Cass waited for the arrival of her playdate.

There had been a note...or something, and Ofelia had done her very best to figure out what it meant. Reading wasn't her strong suit to begin with, not that she'd ever admit it aloud to anyone, but eventually she gathered that this was a note from someone named Cass? Did she even know a Cass?
Yes.
Ohh. Yes, no, yes she did know a Cass, and she knew where the pod room things were, and so Ofelia put two and two together and headed in the general direction. If she got lost well, she got lost BUT ADVENTUREEEE anyway. She'd get to where she was going one way or another and for some reason she got their on her first try it was so amazing. She was patting herself on the back many many times when she looked up to see Cass, a large grin spreading on her face. "Howdy! Ya wanted ta play wit' me?"

Cass waved as Ofelia entered the room, smiling weakly. "I assume that's you. Hard to tell." she tapped her eyes then sighed, settling in with a sort of tired groan in the seat. "Glad you found me."
Cassandra..
She suddenly perked up as Nicodemus reminded her why they were chilling in the pod-room. "I was going to ask you to play Deathsweeper with me? It's a pretty...dangerous..challenge, but I figured it couldn't hurt to run through it. It uses golems too, so it's something I can manage." she seemed pleased by this. "No problem if you're not a Deathsweeper person. I mean, it's kinda like Minesweeper, but....more disastrous. If you don't mind that."
She was bad at explaining the 'game'.
"Basically on the island we have five trials - each tailored to particular divisions. Deathsweeper is naturally that of the Death Division, but as it stands, it is the only one I can manage at the moment."

Ofelia just sort of stared at Cass, trying to factor in everything she was saying. Trials and stuff sounded pretty exciting but what was a golem? Was that the thing she'd seen get it's neck snapped (and did that mean she'd look like that woman too if she was in a golem)? Actually did she even know how to pilot a golem?
Nope. "Sounds fun an' all but Ah dun even know what a golem is let alone how ta pilot one."
That really was the only thing she has a question about, not even the 'it's dangerous' bit.

"Fair enough. It's a bit more intuitive than you might think, though. Like..I've never considered 'piloting' my golem to be a conscious act. Though, you not knowing how to work one might be another good reason for you to play this with me.
Before Caelius comes back and starts dishing out missions that could get you killed for not being on your toes and aware of things."
It was a too true fact that he...really didn't give a s**t about the trainees. They were disposable to him. Thus, it was her goal to make sure that they at least were able to keep up to snuff and afloat.
"All you gotta do is plug in your personal info into the mainframe. The rest is kinda...it gets dark and you wake up in a new body. BAM. That easy." Though now Cass was wondering how it worked.

"Okay, type in mah personals an' climb in an' jus' go. Ah think even someone like me can manage that." Thinking too hard about being a golem or piloting one was sure to backfire on Ofelia, seeing as she didn't know much and would only injure herself if she tried. She'd never let her brain be her strong suit, not when there were other things to do. Don't you dare say anything Rue. She'd managed to cut the weapon off in time, and Ofelia moved over to a pod.
This was one of the things she'd been in earlier, right? "Okay, ya do it first an' Ah'll follow yer lead."

Cass smiled. "Alright. I'll go first then." she took a moment to tap into the input pad the familiar information - her name, her reference number, her division...various things she'd had to put in before. It seemed easy enough from there, as the door closed on the pod and Cass leaned back, pulling the apparatus that was inside of it down over her eyes and then waiting.
It was funny how the darkness was just sort of..there.
Still, she soon enough woke up in a very familiar, in a disposable way, golem. Nice. She was familiar with the Deathsweeper room. She'd died in there a couple of times, actually. Still, she waited to see how Ofelia would hold up with it.

....maybe Ofelia should have been nice and said that computers were entirely not her forte and that usually her method of dealing with things like that was punching them or hitting them with something. Even having a phone was a bit much for her so well, whatever. She wasn't retarded so it wasn't like she couldn't at least put her information in without breaking something.
I look forward to seeing whatever it is you do, hick. Try not to break the machine before you get in, I'd hate for you to die on account of your own stupidity this early in to our relationship.
Ignoring the voice in her head the best she could, Ofelia followed the steps she'd seen Cass do (right down to putting that thing on her face) and she waited...and waited.....and then woke up in a weird place where she knew it was her but didn't know it was her.
Now what?

"The normal aim is to try and take as many steps onto this board before your golem gets destroyed as possible. Five is about the goal for us right now. I'll warn you, this.....isn't easy. It took me about five or six tries the first time I did it. So..keep an eye out on what is around you..."
She'd found there was something about the tiles that was slightly telling if you knew what you were looking for. Unfortunately, Cass didn't always have that eye about her. Even if this time she was lucky.
Stepping out onto her first tile, she seemed to freeze, waiting for something horrible to happen.But... ... ...
It didn't.
She sighed with relief.

She took a deep breath, and then another, and hesitated. Why was she being so nervous, it really wasn't like Ofelia to sit and think on something. Her type was the type to just use both feet forward and you know what?
She did just that.
And somehow ended up just fine. "That wasn't so bad. Ya go on first 'gain an' maybe we'll figure this out somehow."Status Step: One HP: 40/40 Flags: 1 Instinctive moves: 0

"Yeah, we're doing pretty okay for starting out-"
Cassandra, you shouldn-
Suddenly the next tile she'd stepped onto shook, and smoke rose up from it, sending shrapnel up at the golem she was in, even as she attempted to shield her face with her arms with a surprised shriek at the trap she'd just allowed herself to walk into.
And yet, it was probably better that she hit the first trap rather than Ofelia. Whoops.Status Step: 2HP: 25/50 Flags: 1 Instinctive moves: 0

Ofelia watched as Cass took a step forward and had something blow up in her face. She was pretty sure her jaw dropped, if it could or something, and she suddenly had a feeling she knew why this game was called Deathsweeper. Maybe she wasn't ready for this -
- oh ******** it, she jumped to the next tile....and appeared to be perfectlly fine. Huzzah! "We're two down! Let's keep goin'!"Status Step: 2 HP: 40/40 Flags: 1 Instinctive moves: 0

"It'll be the last three that'll get ya..." Cass coughed, seeming to be pretty OK, but still jumping over to the next tile of her choice once she was sure the smoke had cleared and she wasn't immediately leaping into a giant deathtrap.
"Okay..that's three down..two to go.." Could she do it? It seemed like Ofelia was doing alright.Status Step: 3HP: 25/50 Flags: 1 Instinctive moves: 0

Ofelia moved to the next step, ready to continue, when something snapped beneath her foot and she barely had time to duck when she got hit out of nowhere by what looked to be ....an axe? Someone was throwing axes?
"Cass, wh- " She didn't get a chance to ask the tile shifted again and another one came and smashed into her back, the golem staggering but not moving. s**t s**t s**t what was that? "Ah...take it that's one'a the traps?" That sucked.Status Step: 3 HP: 20/40 Flags: 1 Instinctive moves:

"They'll get worse, hun. Definitely worse. But yeah. Some of these tiles will instantly destroy your golem."
For a moment, however, she imagined Caelius chuck-norrising it through the Deathsweeper like he was ******** Jesus. Why...wouldn't that surprise her?
Still, as she moved to step again, Nicodemus cautioned her more quickly this time, Cass making a point to change her step a bit more willingly to a different tile.
Okay...she only needed to survive one more step. One more...Status Step: 4 HP: 25/50 Flags: 0 - USED! Instinctive moves: 0
