With one gender bending fiasco done, a failtastic exam just finished, and an interesting experience at the Lunar Festival behind him, Mort had been feeling just tired. It wasn't often that he hit the sack, but the second he shuffled into his room and finished off the rest of his meat that Yin had offered, well, the zomboil hit his pillow and was out like a light. By the time he woke up, Lanna was licking his head most aggressively - her way of saying she wanted her bed back, plzkthnx. With a groan he checked his phone for the time - he'd gone to sleep on a Tombsday eve, and now it was Websday afternoon.
Yikes. He didn't like knowing just how much time he had wasted, even though to a normal person that would be getting a good amount of sleep.
But what do to? Mortimer knew technically he was supposed to be working on his new project, and the plans were laid out on his desk nearby. But . . . Naaah. He needed to get out of his room for a bit. The hand could wait another few hours. Besides, he'd nee more funds to begin it anyway.
It was then that his sleepy brain woke with a spark, reminding him of a certain ghoul who was certainly waiting for a certain knocking on a certain door after a certain Groanspring message had certainly been sent out. Right. Patting Lanna's head, the zomboil rolled off the bed and redressed, feeling his current clothes were probably a bit too full of a stench to try and wear until after laundry day. It was a step closer to getting him showering on a normal basis at any rate. He sent a quick text as he got ready.Fifteen minutes later, with new clothes, his awful replacement glasses, and a couple of new stitches in his cheek, Mortimer was at Chuppi's familiar small door, knocking.

For once in a very long time, Chuppi's room was spotless. The monster was feeling good about herself, about the others, and even though she'd perished just recently after finding her way into a weird room she was oddly at at peace with everything. Perhaps it was a sign she was growing up, growing calmer, or perhaps it was because she'd gotten a new Thermos and no longer had to hunt down and kill minipets for food. ( She hated the cafeteria, their blood never quite tasted right ).
It was safe to say she'd almost forgotten her promise with Mort until her phone buzzed with a text, startling her from the small chair she'd been sitting on. The book she held in her lap dropped to the ground as she hurried to get cleaned up, not wanting her own personal appearance to look horrible if her living space was presentable. A knock at the door came a few moments later, or so it seemed, and she cleared her throat and shivered nervously as she stepped over and opened it.
"Mort! Buenas tardes!" The Chupacabra's cheeks lit up with a happy blush and smile as she motioned for her friend to step inside. She was wearing some new clothing of her own, a nice dress she bought after her old one was ruined, and her hair hung loosely about her shoulders. "Come in and have a seat, am sorry I am not ready yet. My hair is troublesome."

Seeing Chuppi's dress made him feel, well, underdressed, but it was a welcome sight to see her as a ghoul again. "Heya! Can wait," he said with a nod as he entered, blinking at the pristine room. Sally, both his dress conduct and his room looked bad in comparison today! "Er, l-look nice today. Though agree, would think lotta hair makes it harder." But then, ghouls were probably good at keeping track of their 'dos, their make up and well being . . . It seemed Chuppi was taking strides in doing so herself even!
"If too much trouble, j-just let go?" he suggested. "Is fine how is, methinks."

"Are you sure?" Chuppi's cheeks turned a bit red at the compliment but she shook it off, smiling at her friend. If he figured she looked fine as it was then she'd leave it at that - there was no point in making him wait on something that wouldn't work out. "And...thank you for the compliment." She didn't want to say she got dressed nicely just for him, that seemed a bit much. Mort didn't view her as anything but a small friend and Chuppi...wasn't sure how she felt about him. The thing with Tybalt was making her wonder if she just trusted people too quickly and confused kindness for affection.
She...honestly probably did, which would make things harder for her in the long wrong. At least for now she'd keep her mouth shut about it and just....keep quiet. "Then, um....maybe we should get going? Was there anything you wanted me to treat you for, as you have passed your exams?" Chuppi wasn't so sure the manner of how he passed but considering what she'd seen on groanspring she wasn't sure he had pass-passed. Not like she had anyway but at least he was moving on to second year. "I know you got for me a bloodfreeze, but for you?"

"Nice things said when nice things done," he said with a waving of his compliment, smiling as well. "S'for treat, mrr . . ." He paused to think, stroking his chin experimentally - as if trying to feel something there. Ah, yes! Just barely, but all the same: the beginnings of stubble. The cream was working! "Tried n' fail with treat you, cold blood no good. But is good for n'thing r-really, s'long is not veggies."
Mort highly doubted Chuppi would even keep track of places that served the greens herself, but he had to make sure that much was clear to save the monster at least some time. He even made a comical grossed out face, like vegetables would be the second death of him, the expression made all the worse with that multi-lensed behemoth of glasses on the bridge of his nose. "Don't look out much other n' game stores n' cold sweets really; kinda get tunnel vision n'side, yes?" Or maybe he was just very one-track minded.

The monster ushered the undead from her room and closed the door behind, not even bothering to lock it. Most people avoided doors that they had to bend to get into and hers, being so small, was not an exception. Plus it wasn't as though she had anything of importance in there? She kept very few possessions because, if one were to be lost, she would be inconsolable. Also, few possessions means she could treasure things more and more for what little there was. Mostly, if asked what she treasured, it would be her friends - and that was awkward to admit so she moved along. "What are veggies?"
Chuppi had never even heard of them so her not knowing what they were or where they would be was a good thought. Her knowledge of food outside of blood was crippled to the point she knew next to nothing, not that she even cared or was ashamed to admit. As Mort continued to list options she smiled faintly and patted the side of her dress, where something seemed to jingle. "You can choose, please, whatever will make you happiest. I do not need anything for myself because. . . " Well, because I am fat did not need to come from her mouth. "Because I have promised treat only for you." Good cover, good cover. "Also, what are games? Like...tag?"
The concept of a video game was also strange to her.

"More like racing, fighting, adventuring n' skellyvision. Will show some time!" Not knowing what a veggie was was okay. Not knowing what a video game was? Owo The poor thing. He'd need to enlighten her, just as he had to for Taryn.
But for now, to think of a place to eat. Mort made a face as he pondered. "Mrrr . . . Izin mood for meats. Thinkin' . . ." He began to list them off on his fingers. "Taco Skull, McDungalds, Pumpkin King . . ." Then it occurred to him that Chuppi had taken the effort to look nice; maybe someplace in the maul wasn't the best of ideas? But Mortimer didn't know of any place really beyond the maul, which had been his comfort zone due to the low budget he usually worked with and the closeness of the buildings. He rubbed his chin some more, unsure of how to go about this.
"M'okay with gettin' just burger n' shake. You sure not want nothin'?" he asked as they began to head out.

"I am okay, I do not need to eat in the way you do. I mean, I like to eat for comfort and pleasure sure but not the meals you are liking? Blood is best and only for me." Chuppi's hands moved without thought and rested on her stomach, the budlge she had accumulated over the years still there. It wasn't as large as it had been before she decided that she needed to get up and seriously work out, but it was still noticeable. It was unlikely Chuppi would ever properly be thin, or even at a healthier size, but at least she wouldn't be obese anymore.
She needed to turn the conversation away from her stomach and back out onto something that he had mentioned. Food was always an easy thing to speak of but it. . . well, self-esteem wasn't Chuppi's thing. Not by a longshot. "I would love to play the vidja games." She stressed on the word 'video' like it was hard to say and her brain couldn't wrap around it. "You say there are different types - is this like that dance game we had played in the location? That was a game yes?" She remembered liking that game, the feel of moving around to the beat and getting a nice score. It had been a welcome distraction from everything. "I wonder if I am good at any games, have never tried."
If there was something like a singing game then she certainly would be amazing at it, though she had no idea if such a thing existed. "Anywhere you are wanting to go for eating is fine with me, mi amigo. I am to be treating you this meal so do not worry about my tastes. It is all for you." There, she'd said it! Hopefully now Mort wouldn't look so worried and Chuppi wouldn't feel so nervous.
