Hey all. I just felt like writing this out just to feel a wee bit better.

I've been spending a lot of time looking for an old picture of my late doberman and I that was taken when I was finishing high school. It was featured in my advanced art yearbook for my picture (we could use any picture we wanted).

Kane (the doberman) and I were best buddies. It was hard to tear us apart. I got him when I was in seventh grade, he was about four years old when his last owner, who didn't care for him and had him in his doghouse 24/7 didn't want him anymore. I took care of him that summer when my sisters were at Upward Bound. We became buddies.

Anytime we were apart, he'd be miserable. But as soon as I walked in the door, I get jumped and licked. He'd sleep at the end of my bed, especially when I was sick. Boys hurt my feelings, he was there to cheer me up. We went on walks together, explored fields together, played fetch, and go to McDonalds and get some nuggets for him and a shake for me.

Well, last year on Feb. 10th... just a normal day for Kane and I. I was curled up in the chair playing a Facebook game, he was napping on the floor. He took a moment and turned his head towards me. I smiled, petted him, and said "I love you Kane."

Those were my last words to him.

He died right there after putting his head down to nap. I was pulled out of the living room screaming in tears as my sister was checking on him by my little brother.

My Facebook was flooded to a point I didn't check it for two weeks when I announced his death, for he touched many people's hearts. I felt like a widow who lost her spouse.

I was in severe depression for months, and almost to a point my parents wanted me to see a therapist. Then again, it took Dad pleading me to cook dinner because my brother was just making pizza and my sister was just ordering out.

I now only have days where once in a while where I might think about him and cry, but I'm still healing. Though last month I snapped at the puppy (Gee... Thanks Dad...) and instead of saying "Booker!" I went "Kane!"

It'll be a year very soon. I just can't believe it's a year.

Here's that picture I just mentioned.

I'm so sorry. I know what it feels like to loose a pet who was close to you. It was heartbreaking but I got over it after a year or so. I still think about her though. It was my pet Wrinkles. A black unknown dog who enjoyed rabbits. She died when I was little. No one knows how.
Anyway, I'm very sorry. Maybe one day, you'll be ready to move on, and accept what happened. Also, don't mind me asking, do you know how he died?

Mom looked him over when she got home (had me sobbing on the phone telling her to come home when she was having dinner with Dad) and said his tongue was blue, meaning cut off circulation. It was possible that he had a heart attack.
