In reality, Vaith was probably sleeping face-flat on his pillow. In his dream world, that was vastly different. It was a little different this time-- Vaith sat on a bench, in the midst of a grey and black populace, biting on a pumpkin cinnamon stick.
It crunched loudly against the silence. A strange silence occupied the air. Even though many figures walked across the scenery and there was obviously action, there was little else to be heard. His dream was surprisingly empty. That's how it went-- When bad stuff happened, all you had to do with ignore it right? The silence was deafening at this point, only broken by the occasional grinding of Vaith's teeth.

In Xiu's defense, she hadn't actually known that it was Vaith's dream she was wandering into. Sure, she had felt a strange sense of familiarity when she stepped onto the path, but that was the only indication that she was delving into the dream of someone she knew. That, and the fact that the dreamer was in the reaper dorms...but just how many reapers did she know?
The baku was silent as she wandered into the dream, pressing her lips together in a thin line as she glanced left and right. This place was awfully quiet--eerie, even. She dodged around the walking figures, casting nervous glances towards them as they drifted by without a word. It seemed as if there wasn't a single sound in the dream to break through the heavy silenc--
Crunch.
Xiu stiffened, her tailbristling. What was that noise? Clutching her hands over her chest, the ghoul's pink eyes swept over the scene once, twice, and then--ah. Her attention zoomed onto the figure sitting on the bench, taking in and recognizing the familiar boil. For a moment, Xiu said nothing, and then she suddenly emitted an alarmed squeak.
OH JACK, SHE WAS IN VAITH'S DREAM. Was there going to be porn like he said!? Maybe she should get out of there before anything happens!

When someone entered, it sent a ripple throughout, his world slightly shook. Having never had anybody enter his dreams, it was a startling feeling. Although, the reaper didn't quite show it .. No, he was still sitting there, munching on his pumpkin cinnamon sticks with the same bored look.
Not so bored, within a moment.
A flash of color, it couldn't be missed in the world of grey and blacks, caught-- no, it forced his attention towards the side. Damn. He recognized that white hair and red outfit. And those pink eyes, staring wide .. Somehow, he wasn't sure how his dream door had been open, she had made it inside. His red eyes tipped back, closing briefly, pondering what to do. Well, investigate how she got here-- It had always been a curious thought, as to how Xiu invaded dreams. Time to find out.. It was a better time than any, he guessed. His hands fell to his sides as he stood, the cinnamon stick being bitten inch by inch with his teeth alone. It was finished by the time he sauntered towards Xiu, at an alarmingly fast pace, almost as if the distance between them had disappeared entirely, his hand gripping her wrist lightly.
"I told you not to come into my dreams. But now that you're here Xiu .. Think anything interesting's gonna happen?"
There was a strange emphasis on those words. A grin on his face was not the most reassuring of expressions. His figure facing hers blocked a majority of his world from her view. He hadn't really wanted her to see his lifeless dream (and pornless.)

She had been in the process of turning right around and leaving when she realized that Vaith had risen from the bench and was headed right towards her. A small part of her suddenly began to panic, but she pushed that feeling aside as she reminded herself that this was just Vaith, her friend, and that he...he didn't look like he was all that angry by the unannounced visit.
Hopefully.
Besides, even if she had chosen to bolt the minute she noticed him, she probably wouldn't have made it out anyways. One minute, the reaper was standing a fair distance away, and the next, he already had his fingers wrapped around her wrist. She stiffened, a sheepish and slightly guilty smile spreading over her lips at his words...though it was quickly replaced by a look of alarm. "S-something interesting? W-wait, Vaith, you wouldn't...! Not when you know that I'm here!" Clutching the front of her shirt with her free hand, she cast a nervous, darting look from side to side, as if expecting to see a naked ghoul appear any second.
Then, she promptly lifted both hands--including the one Vaith had a grip on--and shielded her eyes. "Just...point me the way out and I'll leave you to your dreams."

Whatever Xiu had on her panicked expression led Vaith to let go, in an sudden fit of laughter that stole his breath away. One hand covered his mouth, in an attempt to contain it but it filled the dismal dream anyways, cracks forming in the silence. His grin was now filled with mirth, his posture relaxing from the sudden intrusion. His fingers laced around her wrist gently, pompting her to lower her hands.
"Today's dreams aren't porn. I guess you walked in on a lucky day, huh?" Vaith couldn't stem the traces of laughter, leaning in a little too closely to Xiu. "You're already in here. No point in making a retreat now, is there?" He asked, his hand ruffling her hair a little roughly, presumably in a gentle revenge. He led her to the side, simply walking through the grey people, to the bench he had been sitting on before.
"Watch out, things attack sometimes." He warned, the spirited tone dimming a bit.

Ordinarily, Xiu would be shot Vaith her trademark pout at his laughter, but she was far too relieved to do so right now. She was too distracted dwelling on the fact that yes, she had been extremely lucky to walk in on his dream today of all days. Now she didn't have to see any...personal things that were obviously for Vaith's eyes alone.
(Yes, apparently she really did believe him about the porn dreams. There was a reason Xiu generally avoided diving into the dreams of teenage boils too much.)
The puffed-cheek face made a brief cameo when her hair was ruffled, and she reached out to return the favour when she remembered just how much time Vaith spent on his hair. Her memory flickered back to all those hair products scattered throughout his room, and without a word, she promptly lowered her hand again. Even she wasn't that cruel (even if this was just a dream).
Sitting down on the bench, she had been in the process of pulling up her legs and tucking them beneath her when the reaper spoke. Immediately, she froze, paying little mind to the fact she was in an extremely awkward position. Brows knitting together, she glanced about at the scene uncertainly. "Don't worry, I should be fine," Her voice was surprisingly even and confident, but the confidence faded as she continued, "But...but do you mean that things in your dream attack you?"

"What do I mean?" Xiu was probably looking for an answer and that answer wasn't an easy one to answer. Even Vaith wasn't sure of the possibilities.
"Huh .. It could be that I like surprise attacks or I'm an ingenious person with a constant need to fight. Or I'm scared shitless from all these hunter attacks, so I'm just putting on a good show for it. You could psychoanalyze further, probably." Vaith listed off, in a monotonous manner, like listing off a shopping list. He counted the options off his fingers, thumb tapping fingers consecutively in count. "It's not these people. You just gotta watch out for those white hoodies. But we're not in the area with them. I go there when I'm feeling adventurous."
SHe could have messed up his hair. It was only a dream, after all.

There was a long, drawn out pause as Xiu stared up at Vaith, her lips parted slightly as she listened in surprise to his reply. She never knew that--...was this how all his dreams were? Surrounded by a colorless and soundless world while being attacked? She was puzzled, though--shouldn't he be able to control his dream to some extent? It seemed as if Vaith was a lucid dreamer (or at least, he recognized that she wasn't supposed to be there). Then again, if he had the ability to control what happened, then he probably would have already tried to put it to use.
No, judging by his words, it was definitely an unconscious thing.
"White hoodies, hmmm?" Furrowing her brows, Xiu lifted a hand, tapping her lips as she glanced left and right in search of these white-hoodie wearing people...only to learn from Vaith that they were apparently not in this area. "So they only show up in one place?" Her voice was soft and thoughtful, the creases between her brows deepening. It was clear that she was carefully considering something.
Her expression relaxed as she came to a decision. The ghoul reached out, grabbing one of the reaper's hands with both of hers and giving him a little tug. "Can you bring me to them?"

"OH NO." There was no room for argument in his tone. Vaith had yet to sit on the bench, leaning against the arm-rests on the side."You made it inside this dream. Don't press your luck." Vaith's tone held a hint of warning that had never been present with Xiu before, but this situation hadn't been run into before in the course of their friendship.
Needless to say, Vaith didn't entirely trust Xiu not to run off at this point. He crossed to the front of the bench, solidly preventing any escape into the more dangerous areas of his dream. "It's called privacy, remember?"
he looked around, not quite sure what time it was.
"Is it time to wake up soon?" He asked hopefully, a poorly hidden attempt to distract Xiu and get her going.

Xiu was genuinely taken aback by his refusal, eyes widening as she drew back slightly. Her ears and tail drooped slightly as she looked up at him, pink eyes round and hands clasped in front of her. "No?" She gave him a pitiful look that seemed to be trying to sway him into changing his mind, but then she sighed, the corners of her lips tilting upwards in a faint smile.
"Well...I suppose you're right about that." Stubborn as she was, digging too deeply into others' private matters was not acceptable. Xiu knew this--for some reason, it just seemed very difficult to remind herself of this fact sometimes, especially when she was acting out of concern, as she was here.
Well...so long as those white-hooded figures didn't bother Vaith too much, then.
"That depends--are you ready to wake up yet?" The baku grinned. It wasn't really her choice when the dreamer woke up, which also meant that she was stuck in here until the reaper snapped out of it. "Though...I might be able to help if you want to wake up now?" Nightmares, she had noticed, were (unfortunately) quite effective ways to wake dreamers up. Nightmares and emotional trauma...
Moving towards the bench, she pulled herself up and stood on the seat. Draping one arm over the reaper's shoulders, she pulled him close...and used her other hand to ruffle and muss his hair, her tongue sticking out of the corner of her mouth as she did so.
...Okay, maybe that wasn't really traumatic, but she wasn't willing to do anything too drastic considering that she was dealing with a friend here.
