~::Tanabata Festival (First Night)::~ [Miss Orihime Tanabata Pageant]
The traditional Miss Orihime Tanabata Parade is a celebration of the beauties of the Festival, carrying them through the streets for everyone to enjoy the loveliest of attractions of the evening! However, nothing is quite the same in the town of Inaba! In this unique twist on the traditional Tanabata Event, the princesses who choose to (or are entered) enter into the contest will be carried upon a small float through the center of the Festival grounds to a makeshift stage constructed just before the entrance to the Temple Shrine. Here, they will be asked to say a few words before the voting begins...and the very crowds themselves will bestow upon the winner the crown of the Tanabata Festival's Princess, Miss Orihime Tanabata!
Entrants may stop by this forum to sign their names on the entry sheet; they should also be dressed for the occasion, in some sort of a kimono or other formal Japanese wear. What is a traditional festival without tradition? Quote: Miss Orihime Tanabata Pageant [Entrants]

ℋitomi ӄouki I will be brave, I will not let anything, Take away, ╔══════════════╗ Hitomi was lost in a city she had never been to before, but she was not afraid; no it was safe to say she was enjoying the whole event even if she didn't know where she was going. Moving in a sort of dreamer's daze she bumped into the Miss Orihime stand and snapped out of the haze. Confusion flashed across her face as she glanced at the slips of paper and barely read them. 'Oh! It's some kind of prize drawing!' the girl thought then beamed. With A grin, she quickly filled out a little slip of paper and moved on. "Tadao! Hey where did you go?"

He always enjoyed celebrations like this one, it always put him in a good mood. The Inari was having fun simply walking around and seeing what the booths had to offer but something caught his eye. It was a booth where women could sign up to join the Miss Orihime Tanabata Pageant. There was one name on there so far.. A mischievous grin came to Honto's face as an idea hit him. Sure he told Koko that they shouldn't prank innocent people while at the festival but he never said anything about not pranking each other. Lord Seo Tachibana-Hakushaku, Head of the Taihaku Demon Clan "...Memento Mori - Laugh and be merry, but remember that you must die..."Onward and upward! The Lord of the Taihaku moved with a smooth, slow gait, never in much of a rush to go anywhere even when he was in a hurry. His body didn't exactly hold up well to the rush and bustle of large groups and rushing around as it were, so as he made his way through the small crowd gathering around the stage for the Miss Orihime Tanabata Pageant he didn't shove, didn't dash, simply kept moving forward with the dark-haired neko close beside him until he stood near to the stage and saw the table set up nearby for those who wished to know the rules and place their names upon the paper for 'sign-up's. He had been relatively quiet as they made their way over from the Red String of Fate booth; his curiosity had him looking and wondering more than it had him jabbering about this or that, which was a bit of a rarity seeing as he loved to speak about whatever it was that had his attention with those around him. That merely spoke to the interest that this glitzy-looking stage and all the possible uses that it might have awakened in him. His crimson eye spied the writing on the paper at once, and like a kid discovering something good his fingers snatched up the rule sheet in an instant, a wide smile creasing his lips as he read the details of the competition. "Ah, Mai-chan! This is...the famous 'Miss Orihime Tanabata' pageant I've heard so much about!" the Lord beamed as he ran his fingers over the bottom, setting the rule sheet slowly back down to the table near the stage with a thoughtful expression, "They say it's a tradition at every Tanabata Festival that the loveliest women in attendance appear in a parade and then from amongst them, a single person is chosen as the festival's Princess! Or something like that, at least. ...Mai-chan..."
Suddenly a cat-like grin creased his lips as he saw one of the names on the list, a familiar one, and in an instant his fingers were scribbling down another underneath of it, having a mischievous thought as he added to the pageant's numbers and spectacular fancy by using his influence as the Lord. "And...one more," Seo smirked even more widely, a strange life coming to the cheeks of the ill demon as he scribbled down one more name just for good measure, not about to let the pageant pass without taking advantage of such a good opportunity...then, when he finished, he turned back to his companion with a triumphant grin, folding his arms calmly at his waist within his sleeves, "Mai-chan...I can't imagine anyone in this Festival is more lovely than you are." This might have sounded romantic if he hadn't continued speaking thereafter. "Or more sexy than Jin-chan...or more fit than Koko-chan...that's why!" the Lord smiled at the neko and placed his hand on her shoulder gently, a warm glow on his drawn cheeks and a sparkle in his crimson eye, "For the honor of the Taihaku Clan, I wish for you to win this pageant for me...for us! Shine more brightly than any star in the sky, Mai-chan!"
He wasn't sure if he was persuasive enough or not...mostly because he didn't even stop to think about that. Anyway, the sign-ups were finalized now. Nothing could take back a signature once it was on the page. Best to make the most of it, right? And if it would keep that smile on the Lord's face, well...maybe she could endure it?Quote: Seo has entered Maigo and Jin into the Miss Orihime Tanabata Pageant!

Soji Seta, Investigation Team Leader "Show me a hero, and I will write you a tragedy"He wasn't a ninja. He would be the first to tell you that amongst the members of the Investigation Team, the one who was more suited to such acrobatic and stealthy attempts at doing anything wasn't him, but instead his best friend, the dual-knife wielding Yosuke Hanamura, who had taken up such a style with a surprising skill and panache. In Sengoku terms, Soji was much more of a straightforward general...a Masamune Date, a samurai...whereas Yosuke was much more of a Sasuke Sarutobi, a ninja. Of course, none of this really made much of a difference right now. Though it should have, and the silver-haired Senior was surprised when he discovered that it really didn't matter. Perhaps he was just better at sneaking than he thought, or the Bunny Mask that he had purchased had supernatural qualities, but when he made his way towards the front of the Festival's Pageant area he had basically avoided being called out by anybody (how rare was it for him not to be approached or spoken to by one of his many friends/acquaintances/enemies every 10 feet?) and found the sign-up sheet unguarded and mostly unwatched. Only an ill-looking man with long black hair stood between he and his target, but a simple, casual walk around them set him at the side of the table where he leaned back against the sign-up table and casually slid his fingers around the pen used to write the names on the sheet, eyes peering from beneath the ridiculous mask at the unaware crowd. Sure, last year it had been Yosuke to do something like this back at the school, but seeing only four names on that ballot right now was something of a travesty and well...why couldn't he have a little bit of fun for once?
His lips curled into a smirk as his fingers began to scribble, letters sharply jotted down in hasty handwriting that he tried to modify slightly for each one. He didn't want to make it too obvious that the same person had signed up each of the names he was putting on that list. Of course they might want revenge on him later if he were to do that; he was still recovering from the other night's battle a bit too much to be ready to endure that. Nonetheless, that ninja thing was working out well for him as the names got down onto the paper smoothly, his bunny mask twitching only slightly as a couple of girls passed by that were obviously not the ones he was looking for. Swiftly the names were down, and in a few moments the deed was done, his casual stance against the table bracing and pushing him back to his full, fairly impressive height, arms stretching languidly before he moved away and left the announcers to pick up the sheet and see what he had done...without knowing who it was who did it.
It was the perfect crime...signing up his teammates in such a way that nobody had seen exactly who it was. They might get angry, but they would no doubt suspect Yosuke and Teddie and probably even Kanji and Faust and Rednal and maybe even Genji before even thinking that he would do such a thing! Their stoic leader doing something so...silly and mischievous? No way! Only...he had. And as his lips curled slightly, feet moving casually towards the back of the crowd where he could watch things from safe distance, he found himself with a new anticipation for the Miss Orihime Tanabata Pageant. It was going to be a good one...Quote: Soji (in a Bunny Mask) has entered Amelia, Minori, Naoto, Yukiko, Kusuri, and Nix into the pageant!

"I see, I see!" Though when he said her name, she brought her attention back to him and instantly noticed his hand scribbling down something on the paper. "Huh? ...Wait, wait, wait, are you--?" she didnt' finish, her eyes already looking over his shoulder just to see that, yes, he is signing her up on the contest and the nekomata backed away with her heart sinking in her chest. And soon Seo turned around with a proud grin and folded his arms, looking down at her with a gleam. It really didn't help her heart's nervousness when he gave her a genuine compliment that was enough to heat up those tan cheeks of hers... course it also didn't help when she felt some thorns on her shoulders after he mentioned the... qualities of Jin and Koko. The feline turned away from him with a pout on her features, crossing her arms for a moment when those thorns of jealousy pricked at her shoulders.

Maigo tried her best to give him a confident smile. "I'll try to shine." She can't hide it, Maigo wasn't really sure nor comfortable about the idea. But the names were already written, what's done is done. If anything, Jin would probably be able to win this one, so at least there's that. She just hoped that her dear sister will feel alright about it. Her eyes shifted to the side "Anyways, where else haven't we visited yet? Are there still the wish boats that we need to try? Suzume Kirihara “Of course! I am great at choosing stuff!” Most of the time. Almost always. Some times. Maybe if she was lucky. Anyway, that wasn’t important now! What was important was that Sai had liked the mask she had chosen, and he looked happy! The girl looked at the mask over violet hair and she nodded to herself once again, turning only as she noticed people speaking and walking towards the stage at the other side of the Shrine. Oh! Was it time for the main event? She wondered what would that be…something fun, that was for sure! Especially if it was taking so much attention! “Let’s! I am sure we can come here later! It will surely be open still, right? There are still so many things for us to see!” the brunette chirped, giving a small jump as she followed the crowd. “Though, if there’s no time before the fireworks, then I am sure tomorrow will be as great as tonight! Right, Sai?” she smiled, knowing completely that he meant every word, and that he’d be here with her once again tomorrow night for sure. And for that, she was grateful. She really enjoyed the time she spent with him, the way he would always be beside her whatever the case…if she were to choose a silly mask, or if she were to trip with some tiny rock, or if she were to just walk and talk about the simplest things…Sai would always be there. If she were to think about it…she was really lucky. Not everybody supported her continuous rambling, or her rushing all over the place, or her accident-prone self… But Sai…he did all that, and more. And that…really made her happy. The girl couldn’t help but to hope he was too.
Catching up with the rest of the Festival-goers hadn’t been difficult (thanks to her companion constant reminders and instructions to get there) and the brunette was awed with the decorated stage and sign that read what the commotion was about. “Miss...Orihime Tanabata...” Suzu read, blinking slightly as words and dots connected inside her mind, gasping out when she finally realized what the event was about. “Oh oh! Is this a pageant? Isn’t it great, Sai? I wonder if someone we know is participating!” The girl moved through the crowd, reaching the booth and the sign-up sheets, big eyes staring curiously. “Min Jee is really pretty! I believe she should be in there! Do you think she’d get mad if I…” she trailed off, her fingers already taking the pen in her hands, twirling it slightly as she tried making up her mind. Oooh…the Korean girl wouldn’t mind, right? She truly believed she had a chance in this! And and…they would totally vote for her! Also Kosuke! “Yep! And and Niiya chan as well!” Her lips curled upwards, not any malicious intent on eyes as she read over the names, turning the page and pressing the pen against the sheet. “Is this where I write down the participant’s name?” she turned to the person behind the booth, listening to the answer given. “Yes? Ah? My name? … … …Well, okay!” Why would they need the name of the one signing people up, she wasn’t sure…Perhaps they get a prize as well? How fun! “And now…I write the other names?” All three names were written down in neat round handwriting, and the girl nodded with a smile as she set down the pen. “There! Though…it’s strange they asked for my name as well, don’t you think?” Tiny little misunderstanding…but… Quote: Suzu has entered Min Jee, Niiya and herself into the pageant!

Sai Sakurazaka, the Urban Legend of Oshu City "...You can trip as many times as you want; I will never let you fall..."It was...not quite miraculous that Suzume had managed to select such an adequate and fitting mask for him, but it was certainly out of the norm for her to choose something that he was not only able to suffer, but actually somewhat satisfied with. For him, it was more about her enjoyment when things like this were done together than it was anything that he personally desired, but when fate was on their side and her good sense won out against her enthusiasm, she had a way of surprising him with something that was really...nice. And that was a word with which he wasn't so familiar before these recent days, 'nice' not being the operative word in the world that he had grown up in, that he had matured in, that had hardened him into the urban legend that so many of the people of Oshu knew and feared/hated/respected. He was never really sure how he would feel if he were ever in a situation like this one, together with a person he cared for at a Festival, walking beneath the lights and enjoying life as though he were just like everyone else; in fact, he could never have imagined something 'nice', something so pure and lighthearted in his life to begin with. Every last bit of happiness inside of him, every good thing that has come to him and the very fact that he can relax in a situation such as this was all because of his companion, all because of that smile, her silly but adorable yukata. And as he gripped her hand a little more tightly, he listened to her questions and nodded calmly to each. Would they be open later? Maybe, but it didn't matter...there was always tomorrow, because the two of them...he couldn't imagine ever leaving her side now. She was...he wasn't sure what she was to him, but he knew that she was important. And as the two of them made their way towards the pageant, he couldn't help but take one look at that beaming smile, feeling a hint of something...different inside of him as he thought that maybe, unlike the old Sai Sakurazaka who couldn't make anyone smile, this one was...at least in some measure...because of him.
"Suzume, I wouldn't put someone else's..." his protests at the booth were cut short by her enthusiasm, already scribbling down her friend's name onto the paper before she could ever hear what it was that he had to tell her. He paused a moment and sighed, his hands occupied (by hers and by the fish respectively) so that he couldn't catch her before she made her move. ...Well, what was done was done, and even Min Jee wouldn't bee able to hold it against Suzume with those puppy eyes of hers...though he felt sorry for Kosuke if he were to make any sort of untoward comment as a result of the pageant. He would not be spared the wrath, and while Min Jee was hardly well-known throughout Oshu, there was no doubt she wasn't somebody that just anyone wanted to make angry. ...But that was all window dressing, a distraction that kept the crimson-eyed young man's attention away from the sign-up sheet just long enough for his companion to misunderstand the attendant's insistence that she put her own name down as well. Turning back to see just as the last stroke of her pen sealed her fate, the Sakurazukamori couldn't help the deadpan expression that landed upon his face. Oh, classic Suzume misunderstandings...why couldn't she just be a little more careful? "...You do realize you just signed up for the pageant, don't you?" the patch-wearing young man asked rhetorically, squeezing her hand a little more tightly in comfort before glancing towards the attending man with a wilting glare that sent him scurrying for a five-minute break before something bad happened, "...Suzume, I shouldn't have to say this...but you should be more careful before you sign your name on anything."
Advice, sound, but too late. His hand in hers kept her close to him for now, but he just hoped that she wasn't the sort to get stage fright. As it were, he was fairly certain this was the type of Festival that was pretty strict about dropping out of pageants at the last second...and while he could easily make them change their minds about that, he was also certain that Suzume would be very disappointed if he were to let that side of him slip in such a beautiful Festival.
He would just have to wish her luck, after all.

Yuno hummed happily as she scrawled a few names onto the sign-up sheet. That was what they got for distracting Rednal and pulling him away from her. She wasn't particularly expecting any of them to win, and she didn't really feel like 'convincing' the judges to vote for her. This was mostly for fun, and to watch the other two girls squirm in the spotlight. Heh heh heh.Quote: Yuno has entered herself, Aselia, and Kanade into the contest! Suzume Kirihara Nod. Nod. It was done now! Niiya chan and Min Jee had a chance to win this pageant, and she was going to be upstage along with them! ...Wait. She what? "Huuuh? I did? But..." Confusion was written all over the brunette's face as she looked at her companion, not sure she had heard him correctly. She signed up for the pageant? He surely was joking... ... No, no; Sai didn't joke about things like that. And his face was quite serious. "But I...and he said...and I thought...Aah-" Brown eyes turned over to the booth's attendant, wide eyes trying to read his expression, almost as if hoping he'd go all 'Nah! Just kidding!', and scratch her name from that paper. Though...nothing of the sort happened. She'd have to do so herself, then! "Ah! Excuse me, there was a misunderstanding and I-" her hand reached out for the paper, but in that same instant, the man took it in his hands and scurried away in a hurry. Oh, such bad luck! He hadn't heard her? "H-hey wait! Wait, I need to...!" Her head hung for a moment, short, chocolate locks shadowing her eyes; a sigh escaping her. What was she going to do now? This kind of contests...she never participated on this kind of contests! In fact...she only was part of running competitions, and those had nothing to do with looks and looking pretty and all that! "I am sorry, Sai. I was too rash, wasn't I?" a sheepish grin curled her lips upward, her hand rubbing the back of her neck a bit uncomfortably, before shaking her head, making up her mind. There was no use in thinking it over too much, right? Besiiides...this was purely for fun...T-there would be no problem, right? "It doesn't matter! What's done is done, huh?" she chuckled, though she tightened her grip of his hand a bit more, perhaps in slight nervousness. "And, it'd be a new experience! You'll be there rooting for me, right?"
Her head turned, listening to a voice calling all the contestants over, and the brunette couldn't help the slight frown pulling the corner of her lips down. She had wanted to watch the event with Sai, but instead she was going to be part of it. But well! They would surely have more time together after that. And and...there would be Niiya chan and Min Jee there with her...so she wouldn't be alone! Ah! Well! It all wasn't so bad after all. And turning back to her violet haired companion, and letting go of his hand a bit reluctantly, the brunette nodded confidently, her usual smile returning to her face. "I think I have to go over theere. Wish me luck, alright?"

Zelkova of Moon Tree, Innocent and Excitable Announcer "Hey everyone! I'm Zelkova, First Squad Leader of Moon Tree! Let's all smile and have fun together, here, in 'The World'!""Hey everyone! Welcome! Welcome!"
From the stage, suddenly, there was a voice that erupted through the speaker system and throughout the Festival grounds, a lighthearted and childish voice that beamed with excitement, and the smile in his words was infectious, drawing the eyes of those in the vicinity to the stage at the front of the Festival and just before the shrine. Atop the stage now was a smaller person, not quite a child but certainly not an adult. He looked adolescent, with light blue hair and white, formal clothes to go with high, wooden sandals and golden eyes that sparkled with youthful mirth. His smile was thousand-watt, but what most stood out about this exuberant young person on the microphone were the completely unnatural horns that looked (or perhaps they really were?!) growing from his head! Laughter escaped him as all the confused and excited faces throughout the Festival found their focus on him, and despite everything he seemed entirely unperturbed, engrossed in his job and even enthused by the remarkable turnout for the show! He held in his hands a microphone and several cards, presumably filled with information about his contestants (curious, since they had only signed up their names), and while another host might have glanced at them for cues, he merely held them and looked out at the crowd, waving his microphone hand at everyone as he stood to his highest tip toes so that everyone could see him more clearly (silly, since he was already raised on stage) and continued to do so until they had all (or enough) focused on him enough that he could continue on.
"Hey everyone! Welcome! Welcome to the Festival's First Night Main Event! My name is Zelkova! Zelkova of Moon Tree! It's nice to meet you all!" the small young man waved and smiled, spreading cheer and a general good feeling to all of those who saw him...a sickly looking Lord and a silverette with a bunny mask far off into the distance included. He beamed and flailed his hand about as if really wanting to be seen, making sure that his first introduction would be a memorable one, until finally the clapping and applause died down and a path began to clear down the center of the Festival's grounds, a large decorative float beginning to light up, streamers being launched into the air as it made its way, "Tonight we've got eighteen really great contestants for our traditional Miss Orihime Tanabata Pageant! It's going to be really awesome! I'm so excited! ...And look! Here they come now!" Pointing down the aisle, the float began its journey forward, music playing, all the pomp and circumstance of the pageant now underway as each of the 18 contestants that made their way to the float were now being brought down to the stage, their host's laughter bright and cheery as it came to rest against the stage and one-by-one they were invited to step forward onto the stage and into the area behind their diminutive host. He smiled and offered a short wave to each of them, eyes crinkled and lips curled widely as he saw them, not unlike a certain one of the contestants with his ridiculously bright optimistic grin. And when they had all settled he stood on one end of the stage and folded his arm behind his back, the other bringing the microphone to his lips to continue the celebration.
"Isn't this great, everyone!? Everyone's so pretty! This is going to be the best pageant ever!" the host continued, smiling, motioning with his cards towards the girls one more time before going on, "Hahaha! Wow, I can't wait! Everyone, take one last look and get ready! Our princesses are about to start the real challenge of our pageant in order to win your hearts...the Question Round!"Quote: [All Miss Orihime Tanabata Pageant Contestants] are now on stage after the float ride in! Jo(shu) Michieru & Kanade Tachibana, Shy Junior "I....can't.." "You can..." "I....I can't... "Yes you can!!" "But I..." "It'll be fine....It'll be fine." a reassuring voice called to the nervous girl, who had been unwillingly drafted into the event. Jo(shu) was sure as hell the girl didn't want to be in an event like this, but something, or someone penned down her name, and as such, she had to enter.... But ugh, like talking to a brick wall. She'd calmed down with the fish, but now she was all wound up again. It was all he could do to morally support her. Kanade seemed to shake a bit, flustered by the voice of the announcer. She'd...she'd be in front of so many people..and there was just so many things to worry about..... "Deep breaths Tachibana." Jo(shu) called, watching the girl take several quick breaths, worriedly. "I said deep.....Slow down....calm down....Relax....it'll all be fine.." A hand seemed to hesitate, wanting to grab her shoulder or some other gesture, but he wasn't going to scare her like that. No...she had to calm down...and focus. Kanade paused for a bit, before taking deeper breaths, her chest rising, then falling. She had to calm down...had to focus... "But....what if.....They make fun of me?" she called, a childish, if legitimate worry. She'd rarely dressed up for fear of attracting attention...and she didn't feel comfortable in formal wear. Kind of akward, to be honest. And with the thoughts, came back bad memories. As she felt her pulse rising, she felt a hand meet hers, squeezing it lightly for assurance. "It'll be fine." Jo(shu) called, lightly as a bit of Metal seemed to be pressed into her hands, a tube of his. "Take my lucky charm with you. If you start to panic, just tap it a few times, and think of the night-sky. It'll be fine, I promise." Kanade flushed a bit at this, recognizing the item as a Summoner tube. She worried a bit what would happen if she'd somehow activated it, but she couldn't worry about it long....because she was about to head out on the float. "A...A...Alright, Michieru." She called, tucking the tube into her breast pocket, before starting out on the float ride in, flushing and holding her hand over her chest as she rode along, being presented to the crowd of people. So many...many people.... Her hands went over her chest, feeling the small tube under her outfit as she flushed deeply, taking deep breaths. Gotta stay calm....Gotta stay calm...Gotta Stay calm.

Zelkova of Moon Tree, Innocent and Excitable Announcer "Hey everyone! I'm Zelkova, First Squad Leader of Moon Tree! Let's all smile and have fun together, here, in 'The World'!""Wow! Can you believe how great this is? There are so many beautiful princesses! It's really great!" the Host continued to gush, smiling and beaming as he motioned with his hand after each of the contestants had their chance to step onto the stage and be seen by all who were in attendance. Now that they were being delivered, the float began to roll away from the stage and the crowd gathered again near the front below them, all the cheers and eyes from below pouring out their support for all of the brave (and accidental) competitors in this year's pageant, "I can't remember the last time the contest was this heated! It makes me really happy! I just want to lay back and look at the moon and stars together all night! But even that wouldn't hold a candle to this stage right now. Don't you all think so, too?" More cheers went up, all the fluff, the pomp growing to a fever pitch as some of the more excitable members of the crowd let out cheerful whistles and immediately began to zoom in on the contestants that best suited their fancy. And all the while the horned young man on stage simply glowed and laughed with each new set of cheers, amused by each of the calls, and every so often he would look at the nervous face of one of the contestants and offer a comforting and bright grin, easing their worries just a little bit with his carefree and easygoing attitude. Until finally, the crowd's initial cheers began to die down...and stepping out to the front of the stage, the host stood and chuckled, bringing the microphone to his lips to speak out once more.
"Thank you everyone! Thank you very much! It's really great you've all come out to support the contestants! I'm sure they really appreciate it, too! I'm very grateful!" he bowed once deeply, almost childishly, before standing back to his full (short) height and getting the pageant rolling, "Now then, to begin our first round of competition, I'm going to get the distinct pleasure of introducing some of our candidates for this year's Miss Orihime Tanabata Pageant, then asking each of them in-turn some questions that they will get to answer for you! So this way, you get to know a little bit more about who you're going to be voting for! Starting with...her!" Moving back to one edge of the stage, he motioned with his unused cards to the first of the contestants...entirely randomly drawn. And when the stage's well-placed spotlight and the attention of its energetic host finally fell, it was this time focused upon...!?Quote: Continuing next post based on the number generated! RNG will choose girls in-turn to respond to Zelkova's Questions![Zelkova Voice Clip]
