It was early afternoon by the time Arian finally reached the hair salon his cousin had suggested he try using. He had meant to leave earlier, but he’d had problems with the frog pendant he’d been making out of fimo and by the time he’d managed to create something that he felt he could live with the morning had mostly slipped away.
Still the dark-haired teen had finally managed to get himself out of the apartment and make the bus ride over to a place that Saffy had told him one of her friends had recommended because of the family nature of the place. It had helped that the ends of his hair had needed trimming, although it didn't stop the dark-haired teen from feeling a slight sense of trepidation given that the last time he had gone to a hair salon, the stylist had been keen to give his hair a drastic cut.
Hopefully this time would be different though – hopefully the stylist on duty would get that Arian was pretty fond of the current length of his raven-black locks, even if it was now past his waist.

There was a flame-haired young lady at the counter when Arian strolled in through the door. She greeted him warmly and looked over her appointment book, trying to figure out who he might have been. "Hello there! Can I help you?" she asked, closing the book after she couldn't figure it out. She didn't look more than sixteen years of age which was probably why she was stuck at the front desk.
She took one look at his hair and clapped her hands with glee. "Caleb! He has sexy hair! He must be one of yours!" she called back over her shoulder at the young man currently sweeping up after the last batch of clients. His was the same color as the young lady's though the style was just like Arian's - long and tied off in a braid. The one called Caleb finished dumping the debris from his station and put the broom away.
"Ah! Keep him company, Lucia, while I go wash my hands. Unless you'd like to come back here to the chair?"
Caleb motioned to his particular station for a moment before disappearing into the back to wash his hands. The last thing he wanted to do was touch a client's head after cleaning the floor. Lucia, who looked to be related to Caleb in some way, batted her eyelashes at Arian and smiled. "You've got great taste in hair! It's so smooth - nice color too!"
A voice drifted from the back room. "Please don't flirt with the clients, Lucia."
"Awww." The girl slumped back into her chair. "I wasn't flirting..."

“Good afternoon” Arian gave the flame-haired teen teen at the counter a polite smile as he rummaged for the appointment details that Saffy had jotted down. “My cousin booked me an appointment for today, although I’m running a little late.” A few moments of rummaging came up with zilch and it took a moment more for the dark-haired teen to recall that they had been sitting on the kitchen counter as he when he’d been prepping to get ready – most likely were still there since they sure as anything weren’t in his pocket.
He was about to apologise and explain that he’d misplaced the appointment details, but ended up flushing instead at the ‘sexy hair’ comment that she directed at an older young man with the same coloured hair. A relative mayhaps? Arian was fine with waiting by the desk with Lucia while the hair stylist she’d named as Caleb finished up what he was doing and gave her a quiet ‘Thank you’ as she complemented his hair – the notion that she might have been flirting hadn’t crossed his mind, the dark-haired teen assuming that she probably saw a lot of different sorts of hair styles from people using the salon.

Caleb came back freshly laundered and ready to go. He shook his head at Lucia, who stuck her tongue back out at him. "I'd like to formally introduce you to my youngest sister, Lucia. The older of the two is in the back. Her name is Luanne. I'm Caleb, and it's a pleasure to meet you!" The young man clapped her hands together in a show of friendliness and waved for Arian to follow him back to his station. "My family owns and works in this salon. We've been here for many years, though Lucia is a recent addition. I think work laws prohibited her before, but that's the excuse mother always made. Personally, I think maturity level had something to do with it."
With a laugh, Caleb turned the leather-clad seat towards his guest. "So, are you here for a trim? A new style? Looking to donate?" He motioned to the long braid Arian wore, much like his own. "Sometimes people decide to give what they can when they sit down. It's liberating, but I feel like my own hair is too much a part of me, you know?" A flick of his head sent the braid trailing out behind him. It was near the small of his back.

“It’s nice to meet you both,” Arian said quietly giving first Lucia and then Caleb a polite smile before following after Caleb as he moved towards his station. “I’m Arian – Arian Laith, but my cousin’s the one who set up the appointment. A friend recommended this place to her.” The dark-haired teen was unable to stop the slightly horrified look that briefly crossed his face at the mention of donating his hair and shook his head “Um no, I like it this length. I just wanted to trim the ends a bit, just to neaten them a little.” Before admitting “I’m not terribly creative when it comes to things to do with my hair – I either braid it or have it a low ponytail. I mostly just braid it though.”

"Alright then, a trim it is!"
The redhead pulled a slick cloak from the side of his station and wrapped it around Arian's neck as was customary. He produced a comb and began to detangle whatever could have been in Arian's luxurious mane, all while tittering away about nothing in particular. Lucia sighed behind them and flipped through a magazine since it didn't appear that anyone else would come in at this hour. Luanne was busy in the back, washing and reorganizing soaps and shampoos for the next day.
"Are you in school, Arian? If you don't mind me asking. I'm in college myself, but I'm not studying anything in particular. Still getting a feel for what I like and don't like. Haven't decided on a major... Good thing we have all the time in the world, right?" With a smile, Caleb's fingers were busy measuring the length needed for a trim without losing too much. "I'm thinking maybe psychology or history, but I'm not sure what I'd do with it, you know?"

“Yes, I’m in Meadowview” Arian said quietly, in other circumstances he probably would have nodded along with the words, but here wasn’t really the place – not while in the process of having the ends of his hair trimmed. “I joined in the Autumn term,” he remembered belatedly that it wasn’t really called terms and added “Um I mean semester, Autumn semester.” He listened as Caleb talked about being in college, “Well I guess psychology is useful if you want to listen to people talk about their problems – like a therapist or something I guess” he added curiously “Is a major like a degree or something?” It would be back in England, although that didn’t mean it necessarily was in the States – over six months in Destiny City had taught him that.

Caleb chuckled, but made sure to let go of Arian's hair before he did so. A slip of the scissors would be a bad thing indeed! "I guess, when you put it that way, I already major in psychology with this job. Sometimes people come in here to get more than hair off their shoulders. You won't believe some of the stories we get when wedding parties come in here, my goodness..."
The redhead picked up his comb again and started measuring. "So maybe I'll put it off for a while and see what ends up working out, you know? And when do you graduate, Arian? Can't tell by your hair how old you are~" His singsong voice returned with a smile on his face. Caleb was an easygoing soul who loved nothing more than to stroll along the path of life and stop every once in a while to sniff the roses. He may be older than Arian, but he had the carefree attitude of childhood. Spinning the chair around, the redhead lightly touched Arian's cheek and moved his head to measure the boy's hair with his eyes.
"There, now what do you think of that?"

Coming from a place where graduation tended to mean from university, had meant questions about graduating had initially led to confused glances on the dark-haired teen’s part, but Arian had been in Destiny City long enough to have learnt that in the States that graduation could mean from High School and so Caleb’s question was answered with a quiet “I’ve got a couple more years to go at Meadowview before I graduate,” he smiled slightly ruefully before admitting. “Although I haven’t really thought on what I want to do afterwards. I guess I have a bit of time though.” The smile turned appreciative as the older teen finished up with his hair and asked his opinion on it. “It’s great, just what I was looking for” just a simple trim to keep the ends in good condition.
