Stripe sang to herself loudly as she thought she was alone, the truth is, in the forest you are never alone. Her hooves mulschled around in the wet mud as she went to collect some fire wood for her father. It was a common task for her because you couldn't ever go wrong collecting wood in a forest. Could you?
And if you could Stripe was pretty sure she'd find out by now because the bad things always seemed to happen to her. She thought that she may have been cursed for something but she hadn't yet figured out what it was and why.

It had stopped raining awhile ago but the ground was still soggy and Douglas was not enjoying the mud getting stuck in his hooves. His irritation was growing and he started kicking the mud up with each step. It splattered his suit making it look even more ragged than normal. He got lost in his thoughts as he went along in this manner, thinking that he was tired of rain and would like to go live in the desert.
For a moment he thought he heard something...singing? "Probably, stupid birds," He grumbled to himself. He looked around for birds. Maybe bringing one down would calm him some. He couldn't stand their cheerfulness anyways. He saw some blue flicker behind a grove of trees nearby. He slowly made his way over to the trees as quietly as he could...but his back feet seemed to be making a sucking sound in the mud, Douglas didn't seem to notice the sound as he crept up.

Stripe's ears perked as she herd the voice, it seemed irritated. She squelched through the mud. She stopped singing, but her squelching remained an obvious sound which strangled the quiet. The predator had seen her before she'd seen him. Now she saw a white colour coming ever closer. She didn't know if the creature approaching was friendly or not, regardless she said,"hello", her voice quivering over the sounds of mud.
She stopped walking and waited for who ever it was to come out, the colour white was associated with purity and goodness...but in some cultures it represented death, she hopped it wasn't the latter.

As Douglas got closer the singing stopped and the forest seemed to ring with an eerie silence. There were no birds in this part of the forest anymore. His own moving seemed to make the only sound, so he stopped for a second to listen if there were any others. Coming from ahead he heard the squelching noises. He continued again towards the sound...more curious than usual. He was in unusual mood and he had a confidence in himself, he felt like the silent forest was on his side, leading him to some sort of triumph.
As he got closer he heard the voice say "hello" to him. He continued towards it. Not replying, letting his steps speak for him. He walked slowly, no need to rush. The voice seemed to have some fear in it...he liked fear. It made him feel powerful.
As he rounded the tree the mare was behind he stopped and stared at her taking her in. She didn't seem like much, only standing a little taller than him, but less bulky. He stood staring in an intimidating manner waiting for the mare to reply to him.

Time began to slow, Stripe could feel it now. The earth weighed down on her a little more in this silence and Stripe did not like silence one bit. She'd stooped walking now, and her ears were perked up the highest they could be. Her voice was absorbed and dampened by the flora around her and she was met with no reply. Just a glare.
Stripe blinked and tried to figure the stranger out. a** she could se is a bloodied bunny suit. 'A bunny?' She thought to herself. 'How cute.' "Are you hurt?" She saw no danger yet, but she didn't know how wrong she could be.

Douglas stared at the mare, but his eyes were blank with no feeling or emotion showing. She was not running yet and the fear he sensed earlier seemed to dissipate. He wondered why she was not afraid, she didn't seem like the type that would fight.
He finally broke his silence, "No trespassing! Not hurt yet!" He hoped his yelling would be enough to scare her so he could sense that fear again.
