What is the best class and Easiest Gameplay. Mage or Warrior ?
PostPosted: Sun Jan 29, 2012 8:34 am

Warriors are generally good for tanking, taking control of the battlefield if you have the right talents, and basically dealing massive damage. In dragon age 2, there is the added effect of destroying multiple enemies at once and being able to separate group or pin them down.

Mages, on the other hand, depend entirely on knowing what kind of character you want and developing a strategy. You can't grab a few random spells and you're awesome, you need to know what you doing. But when you do, your character is devastating. Area of effect attacks, debilitating spells, heck, if you're a blood mage you can CONTROL enemies once you're at a high enough level. But the weakness is that, unless you're an arcane warrior (in dragon age origins) you have to either stay back or have a line of defense so you can cast those spells.

In other words, it entirely depends on what kind of person you are and what you are skilled at. If all you want to do it to hit hard and knock people around and be basically the centre of the battle, go for warrior. If you have patience and prefer to plan or hang back and create strategies, individually choosing a specific spell for certain times or just being there to blast away enemies when things get too much for your warrior/rogues, a mage is good for you.

^^Seconded.
Mages definitely have the potential to deal a lot of damage, but there's a lot of strategy involved, and you have to rely on your companions to draw attention away from you.
If you're looking for the easiest class, go with warrior with two-handed weapons. You can walk right into battle and deal massive damage.

I pick Mage. My character is Mage right Now. Ive beaten half of the stories without dying. And My Mage Has Big damage when I fight the enemy.

I created an immortal unstoppable mage.

make mage, specialize in non-offensive spells like the wild armor. take a few ranks in force mage (non offense/damaging ones. so like.. the first and second spell.) take full ranks in spirit healer, and I mean max that SOB out. Nothing will kill you, you can take on the arishok solo and waste him.

It really comes down to if you play that class well.

I love mages & I tend to make a better ranged class rather than a warrior.

Did you forget about rogue? Haha

Tough question though, each class has it's own unique set of skillis which are all good in their own way. It all depends on what the user prefers.

As in for myself, I am terrible with rogue characters while someone else can be amazing with them and deal a whole lot more damage than I can. I, however, am wonderful with a mage character and fairly decent with a warrior character.

In my own personal experience, I would say mages are the strongest. The mix of all the spells and special effects just work brilliantly together. I'm all for the magic! 3nodding

in DA2 weapon choice matters too.

if you want DPS: rogue two weapon, warrior large weapon, mage offensive spells
team player: warrior shield(tank) , rogue archer, mage spirit healer

there are other combinations but I chose my class depending on who I want to have as my team. I always have an archer (either me or varric) and try to jave a mage that heals (hate having anders though)
I usually go mage/spirit healer.

Ditto. Now if only they had kickass crossbows for Hawke like Bianca or the one Duke Prosper uses in MotA.

Hey yeah, the crossbows looked so flimsy in DA: O. Maybe it's because of Varric's size, but Bianca is so badass and lethal-looking. Definitely want.

Also, I want Tallis' throwing knives. I mean, they didn't do her much good when she kept dying in my party, but it's a really cool fighting style.

Hey hey hey no dissin mah lovely lady. Tallis never died when I played, and she's a redhead elf with throwing knives voiced by Felicia Day. Teammate after my heart. Better than the backstabbing pirate "wench". I wish I could keep her instead.

Lol back to crossbows, Prosper gets a bad a** hand crossbow that looks like something out of Vesperia, plus it shoots wyvern bait? Genius.

i always have more fun as a rouge myself, but i also love being a warrior ((depending on the game either 1 or 2 handed or even dual wield)). But i really love to blend the two of the them together, both Rouge and Warrior, if i can in any games, like Mass Effect, the Infiltrator, or in the new kingdom of amiler, reckoning, they have a whole bunch of rouge warrior combos.

XD Too late I think, I already did diss your lovely lady in the Mark of the Assassin thread.
She uses Hawke with absolutely no regard for his/her safety and then gets mad when you don't blindly trust her and obediently follow her convoluted plans, no matter how many times they got you into trouble.
She's like Anders without the adorable scruffy stubble.
But if it helps, I don't like Isabela either.
The only reason I kept either of them alive was for more money/weapons/etc.

Yeah, I hope we get crossbows back now that they're completely awesome. DA 3 is supposed to be a mix of DA: O and DA 2, so maybe we'll get really cool crossbows. Especially is they function as a melee weapon as well like Varric's, it could make me totally rethink the archer class.
