Bashira sat in the small cramped space packed up against a dozen other cubs. She desparately wanted to escape, but the large lioness glaring at them from the only entrance and exit stopped those thoughts from fully forming. Some of the cubs were crying, and some were sitting stock still in their fear, much as she was. The small silver girl didn't know why she was there or what was to happen to her, but it didn't look good for any of them. They'd been told that they were there so that they could be "tested" for potential slaves. Every now and then, a different lioness would come and snatch up another cub, never to be brought back. For the next few hours, all that could be heard were the cries of the current unfortunate cub and those of the frightened ones around to her.
Her body was thrashing now, trapped in her memories. The fear that had once gripped her young heart was trying to recoil itself around her older unstable one. Every day that she ran free on her own, she tried her hardest to obliterate every memory that she had of that place.
One by one, the cubs around her disappeared into the depths of the underground caverns. They were dragged out of the tiny cave and taken into darkness until there was only her and another girl smaller than herself. The younger girl looked on in horror and the lioness returned some time later for Bashira. She saw nothing but the lioness coming for her, but there was nothing she could do, she was so smal. Then, the lioness swooped down on her and --.
She woke up with a violent start. Heaving in a deep breathe she looked at the rising morning sun. When had she fallen asleep? Glancing around herself she saw no dark caverns or frightened cubs and thoguht, 'Well, this is a going to be a great day now isn't it?'
