Ever since Thanatos installed that little snake door on the door of his room, Biskoto had made full use of it, promising him that she wouldn't wander too far, and that she would stay within the Reaper dorms and the area around it, where it was safe.
Thus, as the reaper took a nap in the afternoon, she found herself in the great outdoors, in the garden near the Reaper dorms; the weather was perfect - it wasn't too cold, and she actually found herself enjoying a bit of sunbathing on the top of a rock before slithering about, taking in the new sights and smells as she looked for a snack in the tall grass.
After all, wild pokemon minipets usually lurk in the tall grass!

It had been a long, long time since Xiu last wandered on the school grounds in her natural form. She wasn't sure what it was, but something told her that it would be a good idea to take off her skull pin and go exploring today. Maybe she would notice something that she wouldn't have in her human form, or maybe she was going to meet someone interesting--whatever the case, the baku decided to go with this gut feeling, First, though, she grabbed a small coin purse that she had edited to have a long strap, tucking her room key into it. Her skull pin followed the key.
Shifting into her natural form, the little baku gave a stretch, her tail waving happily behind her as she awkwardly picked up the coin purse and tossed the strap over her head, letting it dangle around her neck. With that, the small creature head outside.
It was a perfect day for a walk. Figuring that a little exercise would be good for her, the baku trotted down the path from the Demon dorms, deciding to do a round around all the campus. She had just reached the gardens by the Reaper dorms when she decided to take it break--it was tiring to get around when your legs were so short! Fortunately, she found that the garden was a good place to take a break in--all the grass made it a nice, comfy place to lay in. Tail swishing behind her, Xiu flopped down in a patch of grass and rolled onto her back.

Spotting something rather big trotting in her direction, Biskoto froze, laying down low in the grass as she kept her eyes on the target, tongue flicking in and out; it was fairly big for a minipet - at least, bigger than she was used to, feeding on Kushis - but a snack's a snack! The bigger the better!
Taking advantage of the fact that the minipet was not paying any attention to its surroundings, she slowly slithered up to it. The last thing Xiu would see was Biskoto's head blocking her view of the sky as, within seconds, the snake was coiled tightly around her much smaller body... And the coils were tightening with every passing second.

Never would Xiu have imagined that she would be attacked out here. Needless to say, she didn't have any time to react, even when she spotted Biskoto's head obscuring her view. It took her a good few seconds until she processed what was happening, and by then, it was already too late--she was caught.
"...?!" The little baku struggled, ears laid back as she tried to get free. However, the more she struggled, the more aware she became of the fact that the creature--a snake?--was coiling tighter and tighter around her. Who was this?! Clearly not a Hunter--not unless they had snakes working for them now--so...a student?
She was starting to feel a little dizzy, struggling to keep air going in and out of her lungs. Finally, she managed to squeak a weak, "L-let go!"

Biskoto could feel the minipet struggling, but her grip was strong; with every exhale, she coiled tighter, determined to squeeze the air right out of its lungs.
That was, until she heard it talk.
"Ah?!" She hissed, immediately letting go, looking flustered and concerned as she prodded the not-a-minipet with her nose, trying to get a reaction, "A-Are you alright, darling?!" In her panic, she might had grabbed the poor thing with the end of her body, making sure she was holding on tightly while giving her space to breathe before slithering up the steps to the reaper dorms.
From there, she basically raced down the corridor and up more stairs, heading straight for her reaper's room, all the while yelling, "THANNNNNNNNN DARLINGGGGGGGGGG, HELP!"

The minute the snake let go, Xiu immediately began to cough, struggling to suck in breaths of air to refill her lungs. She flinched involuntarily at the gentle nudge, her eyes widening slightly as the serpent suddenly spoke. So...so it was a student?! Or maybe...
The baku didn't have much time to dwell on it when she felt a part of the snake coil around her again, though much more gently this time. Though she was alarmed, she wasn't sure how else she was supposed to feel right now. Frightened? A little bit, but not as much now--not now that she knew the creature could speak, was pulling her along gently (though ack, being pulled up the steps was a bumpy right), and was...calling for someone?
Hopefully someone who didn't intend on trying to eat her.
Ears flat against her head, she gave a half-hearted wriggle. "Who...who are you?"

"Bisssskoto!" She replied, obviously still anxious and panicking, judging from her voice; however, once it sunk in that the creature was actually talking to her and thus, must be feeling better, she paused, slowing down before letting her down, carefully and gently removing herself from around the creature's body. It also helped that they were pretty close to her destination.
"Oh, I'm ssso, ssso ssssorry, darling," If snakes could turn red from embarrassment, Biskoto would be a dark shade of red by now, "I thought... I thought that you were a wild minipet!" She hung her head in shame. So much shame.
Thanatos, hearing all the commotion outside, had decided to open his door to see if anything interesting was happening; realizing that it was his own familiar, he was about to close the door when he spotted the... Odd pink creature with his familiar.
"Who's your friend there, Biskoto?" He asked, raising and eyebrow.
His familiar was too depressed to answer.

The baku's tensed muscles visibly relaxed as the snake slithered out from around her, letting her go. At worst, Xiu was just a little shaken up--what would have happened had she not spoken at that moment? If she hadn't managed to squeeze out her words, then she would have passed out, and--
--annnnnd she didn't want to think about it. A tiny shiver ran down her spine, and her eyes held a hint of uncertainly in them as she looked over towards the snake. Biskoto, was it? Despite the scare she had given her, it was clear that it had all been a misunderstanding. Giving a weak tail flick, Xiu shook her head. "No, ah, don't worry about it! No real harm done, right?" If she could smile in this form, then she would have tried to muster up the most reassuring one that she could for Biskoto.
Xiu jumped slightly at the door beside them suddenly opened, ears perking up at the unfamiliar voice. Craning her neck back, her eyes trailed from the reaper's boots, to his legs, to his chest, neck, and then finally his face.
...O-ow, it...really hurt looking up at someone when she was this short.
When the snake didn't reply to the question (she gave the serpent another "it's okay, don't dwell on it!" look), Xiu gave a nervous little flick of her ears before lifting one of her forefeet from the ground, using it to wave up at the boil. "I'm Xiu, a student here." There was a pause, and then she added with a tilt of her head, "Are you new here?"

"I-If you sssay ssssso..." Biskoto was still visibly depressed, but she at least looked up and managed a sort of weak smile - the best she could do - at the baku, just glad that she stopped just in time to not accidentally eat a student... That would be terrible! She would never forgive herself!
Thanatos just stood there, at the door, one eyebrow raised before stepping outside and heading straight towards the pair. He stood by Biskoto to pat her on the head, reassuring her that everything was going to be fine, before going over to pick Xiu up, gripping her under her forelegs and hoisting her up to his eye level, letting her legs dangle.
"Yes I am," He grinned, a soft chuckle escaping his lips, "I'm Thanatos, and Biskoto is my familiar. A pleasure to meet you, Xiu... Aren't you the most adorable thing?" He couldn't resist chuckling again as Biskoto curled around his ankle, looking up at the both of them.
"And I almossst ate her!" She hissed unhappily.

Xiu didn't seem particularly bothered by the fact that she had suddenly been picked up--she hung there in a docile manner as the boil introduced himself, her tail swishing behind her. Ah ha, so he was new! And Biskoto, she was his familiar! Suddenly this all made a lot more sense. She gave a little flick of her ear as she stared up at the reaper. "Nice to meet you both! I hope you guys will like it here--ah!"
In her excited tail wagging, she ended up knocking the small bag that she had been carrying her skull pin in. The baku let out an alarmed noise as she noticed the small--but very important--object suddenly go flying out of her bag. With her forelegs occupied (and too short to have done any good anyways), Xiu lashed out with the only thing that she could: her tail.
Somehow--perhaps all that practice had helped--she and managed to successfully catch the skull pin before it fell, her tail weakly curling around it. However, as a result...
Well, now instead of a small creature being held up by Thanatos, it was a small ghoul (and, to her dismay, she realized that her legs were still dangling off the ground). There was a beat of silence, and then she offered the the boil and the snake a weak smile. "...Hi," She introduced again, "I'm Xiu-Ying."

The sudden increase of weight in his hands surprised him, but not enough for him to let go, seeing how he was used to heavy lifting thanks to Biskoto anyway. However, when he realized that he was now looking at a humanoid face, it didn't take very long for him to figure out what exactly happened.
The fact that Xiu was still off the ground seemed to amuse him greatly, judging from the widening grin on his face.
"Just so you know, my opinion did not change - you are still adorable," He chuckled lightly before gently settling her back on the ground, removing his hands and putting them behind his back. Then, leaning back and stroking his chin with a thoughtful look, he added, "Although... I'll say that you became prettier as well."
Biskoto might had whacked the reaper's leg with the end of her tail - not that he noticed, or maybe he was just used to it by now - before slithering over to the now-not-so-little Xiu, curling around the back of her legs before nuzzling her calve with an apologetic look, still not quite over the whole 'I almost ate a student' thing, "Are you... Hurting anywhere...?"

If there was one thing that Xiu genuinely didn't know how to react to, it was when people called her cute...or pretty, and Thanatos had just done both of these things. "I...um...no, I'm not...really..."Color flushed in her cheeks as she lowered her eyes, busying herself with pinning her skull pin back onto the front of her obi. "...T-thank you?" Her voice came out as a little mumble, but she hoped that that would serve as an acceptable reply.
Fortunately, a welcome distraction came in the form of the snake, who Xiu immediately smiled at. Crouching down so she didn't tower over her, Xiu reached out to gently rest her hand on Biskoto's back.
"No, no, I'm fine! Please, forget about it!" With the knowledge that it had just been an accident and that Biskoto was really very likable...who could stay mad? Certainly not Xiu!
Pushing herself back up to her feet, she looked between reaper and familiar, and then cocked her head to the side. "Have you two been here long? If you need someone to show you around the school..." For all she knew, it was possible that Thanatos and Biskoto had already been here for a while, and she simply had not seen them around. Considering how many students there were in Amityville, that wasn't too far-fetched of a theory.

"I believe that you asked me that already, and my answer is still a yes," He grinned at her reaction to his compliments, amused at the fact that the ghouls he had met so far had been the bashful sort, "Biskoto and I had done some exploration of our own, but... I don't suppose that there are any places on campus that are special? Perhaps difficult to find when you're new?"
Always a possibility in a school as old and established as this one.
The familiar eagerly nudged against Xiu's hand, eyes rolling up to look at the ghoul with a hopeful expression, encouraging her to give her all the physical affection, "There wasssss thissss really nice ghoul - Amphi - sssshe wassss sssssuppossssed to sssshow usss the garden but got usss losssst inssstead!" She let out a series of soft hisses, the snake version of a giggle.

...Had she? Whoops--she must have been more distracted than she had thought. Looking sheepish, the ghoul lifted a hand to rub at the back of her neck. "Oh, I, ah. I'm sorry." Since it seemed like he wasn't going to pay any more sudden compliments to her, the baku visibly relaxed, lips spreading into a small grin. Crossing her arms over her chest, she hummed thoughtfully as she considered his question. "Special places? Well, it's not exactly on campus, but there's the wishing well and--...say, have you joined a club yet?"
She looked the boil up and down. He didn't look like much of a Baking Club person...but hey, it wouldn't hurt to ask, right? Xiu, who was shamelessly trying to recruit someone she had just met into the Baking Club, beamed up at him hopefully.
Her attention was then turned towards Biskoto, and just as the snake wished, the ghoul gave it an affectionate stroke on the head. She paused at the familiar name, her face lighting up. "Oh! So you've met Amphi!" Xiu was pleased to hear that the mermaid was out and socializing, though her smile became slightly wry as she learned that the tour had ended up getting them all lost. "Weren't lost for long, I hope?"

"A club? Can't say I have," He stroked his chin thoughtfully, pausing for a bit, "In fact, I don't even know what type of clubs are available in this school... Perhaps you would like to shed some light on this topic?" He wasn't sure if he was the type of person to join a club though, unless it could be a source of entertainment for him.
Then he was all up for it.
"I have," He confirmed it with a nod and a grin, resisting the urge to chuckle; the mermaid was a fun one to tease... So much entertainment in that one ghoul, "Not for too long... I managed to get us back on track after realizing that she had been leading us in circles, all in search of a garden...." He laughed, shaking his head, "Quite the adventure for someone new!"
