It was true, Hercules had told Camelot she wasn't about to patrol alone any more, and it was equally true that she'd gotten herself into a group of Senshi which meant that she never had to patrol alone... but sometimes, Sailor Hercules was the kind of chick who just needed to be alone for a while. Alone and kick youma a**, of course.
That was how she had found herself patrolling the streets, rather unenthusiastically. She was sitting on top of a brick wall, tossing pebbles at the ground idly. The sun was setting, which meant that Hercules would be a beacon of light, so she was staying out of sight. Her fuku was smoothed over her thighs, the chains reflecting in the fading light. She blew a strand of hair out of her face and flicked another pebble off the wall. She started to hum, and then mumbled the words to a song she had heard once in some weird Japanese movie.
"Little kitty, little kitty, little lost cat... I know where you're hiding, I know where you're at..." Sailor Hercules closed her eyes and leaned back, laying down on the top of the wall. She sat with one leg dangling off the side, the other knee bent with her foot flat on the top of the wall. She tossed one more pebble, idly-- it sounded different, as if it hadn't quite connected with the ground. Had she hit someone..? Hercules tilted her head and looked over the side of the wall.

Super Sailor Remarque had been relatively discrete upon approaching Sailor Hercules; today was a sort of off day in that he had decided to start his energy gathering a little earlier than usual. Recent run-ins with senshi had not left him in any way fearful of encountering another, though he warranted that he needed a change of pace before he got himself into some severe trouble.
Stepping out of the mirror, he hadn’t at first been aware of the senshi atop the wall but—then again—when he’d first sensed her aura he had never expected to find her by looking up. Remarque considering avoiding her all the same, but her mannerisms were a bit odd, and not at all what he would have expected of a senshi out on patrol. Vaguely he could make out words, though it wasn’t until he was closer that he could tell she was singing—and about a cat, no less.
His nose wrinkled, though he continued to approach her. The pebbles she was tossing didn’t concern him—until he was close enough that one could have struck him. He glanced up as it was falling and for no other reason than to see if he could, snatched it out of the air. There was nothing particularly special about the little rock, other than a senshi had just swept it away. His gaze drifted up and he locked eyes with the culprit. He rolled the pebble between the thumb and fingers of his left hand as he addressed the senshi, “Sort of odd place to be sun tanning, don’t you think? Or is there something more interesting going on here?”

Normally, Hercules wouldn't come out this early. Too bright out. Too risky. However, boredom and relatively nice weather had drawn her out of her dark apartment like poison from a wound. Upon further inspection down the wall, it appeared to be a male senshi with a nice face. Hercules hadn't actually met any male senshi since she'd met Castor, all that time ago. Essentially Hercules was a rather lousy senshi, having had very little guidance and support; it made her rather... quirky. Some might call it "unique," others "inept." Hercules didn't really care one way or another, so long as she got to continue kicking a** in the name of good.
Sometimes she liked to imagine she was in a survival horror game, and the enemy were zombies. It was a lot of fun. Her Hera's Affection attack had really improved since she started yelling HEAD SHOT in her head before throwing her energy-gem. She couldn't help but feel, looking at the senshi who had caught the pebble in his hand, like yelling BOOm, HEAD SHOT then, too. Obviously she did not do this. Instead, Hercules admired, "Nice catch."
Lazily, she adjusted her pose so that she was sitting dangling her legs off the wall again. She braced herself and hopped down, landing gingerly on her white boots, her chains jingling. "Biding my time," she said, "Why, do you usually tan while the sun is setting? It probably doesn't work."
Hercules brushed her gloved hands off, straightening them, smoothing her skirt down. How disheveled she was willing to appear corresponded directly with how well she knew someone. Meeting someone for the first time, she cleaned herself up and stood before the stranger, wondering exactly who he was.
"You? What brought you here?"

Remarque was still rolling the pebble between his fingers when Hercules descended from the wall. He observed her with curiosity and interest far more than caution; it might have been her appearance—or the fact that she was a girl—that kept him from being intimidated. He could have been honest and let her know that the reason he was out was to collect energy, but that didn’t really seem like the sort of thing you wanted to bring up with any order aligned senshi. For some reason they seemed to equate it with murder, which wasn’t true. All the time.
One might argue that depositing someone in mirror space meant the end of them—and it kind of did—but who really cared? Remarque had been very careful to select his targets when it came to that sort of thing, and had effortless reasoned that it was the best choice. The homeless men that were starving and freezing? What hope was there for them to live a good, happy life again? And the criminals? He was doing the world a favor, they just didn’t seem to realize it.
Instead, he just shrugged a little. “Oh, you know. Just taking some time to myself. Wasn’t planning on coming over here, per se, but—then again. Wasn’t planning on running into a senshi.”
He looked at her and seemed to express no hostility, just a sort of curiosity. There were two large factions of senshi—the ones who hated the DMC, and the ones who were either curious or just tolerated them. He was still trying to sum up which one the girl in front of him was, though was willing to bet that because she hadn’t attacked yet meant she wasn’t going to be a threat—yet, at least. He was willing to risk it and introduced, “Super Sailor Remarque. Dark Mirror Senshi of Puppetry.”

Sailor Hercules, having had very little to do with the order senshi or any kind of senshi for that matter would not know for better or worse what energy collecting equated. In fact, she'd probably ask for him to explain it, had he brought it up; despite displaying her ignorance, there wasn't really any other way she could learn. As it was, she had sort of cut herself off from the other senshi, unintentionally. It was something about her sleep habits and her prickly personality, likely.
She was probably all too succeptible to vigilante thought, even if she thought being a good guy was wicked-awesome. Sailor Hercules looked back up at the wall for a moment, and thought about how comfortable it had been given it was just a wall, before thinking about what he actually said. "Dark Mirror Senshi?" Hercules paused, thinking, one finger poised over her lips before she reached out her hand to shake his in return. "That seems like something you'd be hesitant to admit. But I guess mostly everyone can figure that out for themselves?" And, unspoken: Except me, because I'm ignorant.
Then, further risking it: "What exactly do you do, Super Sailor Remarque, Dark Mirror Senshi of Puppetry? Other than possessing a really long job title." For now, Hercules was curious. Curious, and more or less content not to have her a** handed to her by someone of a higher rank.

Remarque’s lips remained curled in a smile. “I do a lot of things besides just that. I do my own rounds, collect energy from those so inclined to volunteer…And then, there’s always enlightening White Moon Senshi such as yourself. Which is a pretty easy job, when you think about it. And it’s certainly one I enjoy. What about you?” he inquired, crossing his arms over his chest and leaning back slightly so he wasn’t craning his neck to look at the girl. “…Do you enjoy your role in the White Moon or do you often spend your patrols just sitting up there, watching the world go by?”
That she hadn’t introduced herself wasn’t too much of a nuisance to Remarque; he had yet to make a solid decision about the senshi in front of him, and unless she suddenly became worth remembering he figured he could forgo knowing her name—as long as she remembered his.

Having jumped down from the wall early on in their conversation, Hercules still occasionally straightened her fuku or adjusted the chains that decorated it, or brushed at an unruly strand of hair. Habit. It was habit for her to make her outward appearance as perfect as she could manage. The interior certainly wasn't so immaculate. "Enlightening indeed, Remarque," she replied at first, thinking. Yeah, she was still happy to be on the good side of things, but it was interesting to meet a Dark Mirror senshi. "I just don't usually patrol before sundown, so I was enjoying the sunset before I got a move on. Yeah, I like being-- Oh, manners." Hercules sighed. Mostly at herself and that she, yet again, forgot to introduce herself in senshi form. She wasn't sure why that happened; in her civilian state, she was all too happy to do so. "Sailor Hercules, Senshi of shards," she told him, stretching one hand out. Those slivers that could range from a mild nuisance to incredibly painful: Hercules dealt in those.
Knowing her name usually just made it extra strange that she looked so sweet; being named after Hercules, one would expect brawn or an outward display of strength. That wasn't really Sailor Hercules' forte; sure, she had a seemingly boundless strength of mind and assurance in herself, and she was relatively brave even when the odds were stacked against her, but it wasn't like she could use her sphere to move mountains or anything. Usually anyone who heard her sphere and name were more than a little surprised. Sometimes disappointed, if they'd talked to her on the phone before actually meeting her.
Hercules could not help but feel as if she was being civil with someone that she probably shouldn't be. So far, however, it's not like he'd done anything or been rude to her. Even though she wasn't sure that "evil" was supposed to have to be rude to you before you disliked it, but Hercules hadn't yet gotten into the habit of broadstroking all of anyone as evil.

For a brief second, Remarque glanced over the girl’s outfit; shards seemed just about fitting. He extended his hand to take hers, shaking with a firm hand. “Well then, it’s a pleasure, Hercules.”
The name didn’t quite roll off of his tongue; he would be one of the ones a bit confused by her title in comparison with appearance. Not that his mythology was top notch or anything, but his mother had admired Kevin Sorbo enough for him to have a vague idea who Hercules was. This pale, pretty, petite girl in front of him was perhaps the furthest thing he could imagine from anyone calling themselves by such a name. Still, Remarque didn’t intend to be rude and kept the thoughts to himself.
“Shards sound interesting,” he said, wondering how many ironies you could fit into one person. She looked delicate and fragile, not anything like how he would imagine shards to be. Sharp, biting, painful—Hercules just wasn’t what he imagined all around. He kept his smile in place and seemed quite comfortable shaking hands with a senshi; she didn’t seem the most ferocious he’d met, and she didn’t look like much of a threat so he wasn’t going to treat her like one. “With a sphere like that, you’d fit right in with the Dark Mirror Senshi.”

It was kind of a constant source of disappointment, her general appearance in contrast with her name. What she specialized in was the suffering of myth; her first attack, Hera's Affection, reflected that. But it was true that Hercules was far from a heavy-hitter. At best, she was learning basic fighting, training as a civilian to make up for her terrible lack of combat skills. Hercules was not a senshi who'd been brought in particularly ready for the call, so to speak. In fact, even her awakening had been kind of hectic. Exciting, but hectic.
It helped to think of everything like a really weird fantasy-horror film in which she was supposedly the protagonist. At the moment, Hercules was certainly not a threat. If anything, she was gathering information. And she did not want to fight someone who almost definitely outclassed her many times over; how reckless would she have to be to pick a fight with that?
"You know, puppets always kind of freaked me out," she said, before she could stop herself. One slender, gloved hand slipped up to her mouth, which had formed in a kind of Woops motion, before she paused awkwardly. "... Did I mention I have relatively poor people skills? I was raised in the wild by wolves. Or something."
Hercules laughed as he suggested she would make a good addition to the DMC. "Believe me, you don't want me. I'm a champion for justice! And I am kind of pathetic right now, so... I'd come back in a few months or something if I was you, you know?" A few months was being fairly optimistic. But what was a girl without her enthusiasm?
Hercules' name was reflected more in her constant need to overcome any challenge she faced. That kind of quality was not readily apparent, especially not at this stage and with so little experience.

Remarque could have been insulted at Hercules’ comment about puppets. He might have been, if he’d taken her words to heart. But it was just an observation. He hadn’t chosen to be the senshi of puppetry, it was bestowed upon him. He donned the title proudly, however understood entirely where Hercules was coming from. Puppets were damn freaky; he knew that first hand. Working in an antique shop, he saw the oddest of the odd, and what people considered ‘artistic’ or ‘fashionable’ fifty years ago was not what he had in mind. On more than one occasion had he met a marionette that seemed like something spawned from nightmares. He would bear no grudge against Hercules for speaking honestly. It did, in fact, make him feel a bit more comfortable around her.
She had admitted to having poor people skills, and if her tongue was that loose, maybe he could get some information out of her. Or, at the very least, maybe she would be a bit more receptive towards his people skills.
“Oh, I think you misunderstand,” Remarque said rather coolly, still casually observing the girl. “The Dark Mirror Senshi want nothing more than justice. More so, in fact, than the White Moon Senshi. Fairness and unity is a prime goal of ours. Right alongside righting the wrongs done in the name of the White Moon and helping your lot before you’re too far gone. The Dark Mirror Court would be more than willing to help you reach your true potential. Why wait months when we could help you now? We would embrace you in our court. Not leave you to your own devices as yours would. No offense meant to you,” he said, tone still suave, “Perhaps it’s just that I’ve noticed there’s not a lot of direction with the White Moon. But I guess that’s to be expected when you’ve got no purpose and no leader.”

Being freaky wasn't necessarily a bad thing, right? After all, she was called sailor Hercules, but her sphere was... well, shards. Bits of things that slice, that worm, that cut, that sting. In and of itself, closer to the sinister side of spheres, but not exactly strong or impressive. At least Remarque didn't take it personally, because she'd said it accidentally, and she was pretty certain he could kick her a**.
Hercules couldn't help but snort. "You're charming, aren't you? If I was less sure of myself, I think I'd've fallen for that in a heartbeat. Why do you do what you do?" She asked; straight, and to the point. Hercules was a brawler at heart, and if she determined that one side was stronger than another and would serve her purposes, she'd likely join them. Besides, she had almost no ties to either world since all those who'd been training her had become more difficult to find, or she merely felt like they were doing more important things than helping her in her lousy patrols.
"I've got all the direction I need, but if someone is heading where I'm going faster than I am I won't complain about it," she added.

A small, bemused smile crept onto Remarque's face, then. "Oh, well, now. When you phrase it like that, you sound more and more like you'd be perfect for the Court. We're going places. Fast. And with the Court as it is now, we have a lot of flexibility when it comes to what we're working for, or how we're working for it. Our prime goal is unwavering, however. We seek to liberate the White Moon and help them embrace a richer, freer lifestyle. And in the months we've been active, we've already made strides in our endeavor that the White Moon could never hope to replicate. So if you're looking for change—and strength," he said, practically purring the words, "Then the Dark Mirror Court is at least worth looking into. You're more likely to get somewhere in life with them than with the White Moon senshi. More likely not to get hurt, too."

Presley was pretty content to be on the side of the 'good guys,' but considering Remarque was the only individual with notable power she'd really gotten along with, short of a Knight she met once who seemed nice if a bit fatherly, it was hard not to listen to what he had to say. Even if she was listening with a grain of salt.
"Too much of a good thing can be a terrible, terrible thing: do you think so?" Presley asked, tapping her cheek with one finger. "Change, and strength; you've pretty much got my goals summarized there. Impressive! Wish we were meeting in different circumstances. You know, on the same side."
Sailor Hercules smoothed her fuku out, its many ornaments and chains chiming faintly. "I don't make any decisions in haste, but... if I wanted to ask you about this again, could I find you somewhere?"

To much of a good thing could never be a terrible thing. Only fools would waste and misuse something precious. Still, he watched her with an open mind as she smoothed out her garb. "Of course. If you're out and about and happen across any other Dark Mirror Senshi, pass along the word and I can be around in no time. Or, if you ever want a run in, I'm at the park, Thursday night. Eight to midnight at least, just about every week."
While he partially felt like it was risky to give away his location, it was a risk worth taking. Within the park, he was rarely far from a mirror, and the likelihood of an ambush or trap was slim to none when he could sense auras.
"And given that regiment isn't likely to change any time soon, take all the time you need to make a decision. I'll be around."
Face your demons Sorry about the delay! I'm going to try and have the other tag I owe you up soon!
